This one is tough. Ligne is not Chablis, and the whole town in the off season seems like it has seen better days. We were accommodated in a former stable outbuilding that had exposed beams and sort of felt like...a former stable. We badly needed lunch but we were in a hurry, a very bad combination in France. The food was delicious - a pike fish roll in cheesy sauce and the local tripe sausage, which was wonderful but not for the faint of heart. The somewhat reticent staff person who checked us in and was also our waiter cheered up a little when he realized that we knew what we were eating and appreciated a local butcher's chitterlings! But the truth is that we felt a little bit out of place here, as if we had interrupted the flow of life rather than being guests. This would be a four star review if it were only about the food, and travelers with good knowledge of French customs would probably do better and enjoy this place more. read more
