Starting my review with a public service announcement, because your dining destiny truly depends on…read morethis: Mongol Hann has 2 entrances, & they lead to 2 entirely different universes! One side (the one near the bathrooms) has a... let's call it "lively" atmosphere. By lively, I mean: louder, busier, and possibly perfect for people who enjoy dining with the acoustics of a cheerful train station. The other side; the side near the main entrance is where I ate the second time. And thank goodness, because that side felt like its own cozy, culinary oasis. Same restaurant. Same food. Entirely different vibe. You've been warned. Choose your portal wisely. Now... the food. The variety and selection here is nothing short of astonishing. It's like the United Nations of flavor had a meeting and decided to all show up on one buffet line. You can choose from beautifully prepared recipes or create your own adventure with raw vegetables, seafood, and meats (depending on your diet preferences), all of which can be grilled for you by someone far more skilled (and far less likely to burn your dinner) than I would be (especially given how busy this restaurant is). Honestly, the quality surprised me in the best way. Everything I tried was delicious, fresh, and generously seasoned (which I love)! If you like options - - and I mean OPTIONS(!) - - this place is basically Disneyland for your plate. The Warning Label 5 stars... but only if you enter through the correct portal. The other side is a solid three stars and a mild identity crisis. In conclusion: gorgeous food, endless choices, and a restaurant with the personality of a Gemini's are often accused of - two sides, totally different moods. I'll be returning... to the nice side.

There is lots of food here. We stumbled upon this on our way back from a weekend trip. There are so…read moremany things in in this little space that parking can be difficult. We did find a spot and went in. I did the Mongolian grill thing which was alright... a bit overcooked. Everyone else just did the buffet which had plenty of selection. Lots of fresh fruit. 2 different chocolate fountains. Lots of normal eats to choose from. some chicken nuggets and fries for the kids. Overall a decent deal. They do have a small room with kids play things. I wouldn't let my kids in there, it looked gross. The bathrooms were pretty clean. Staff was busy, but got the job done.

(See English below)…read more Schreckliches Essen und noch schlimmer Bedienung. -------------------------------------- Awful food and even worse service. Came here for the lunch buffet, but left completely disappointed. The food was way too salty (it was pretty much the only flavor in all the dishes), most of the fried foods were mushy, others were nowhere near fresh and tasted like they had been sitting under the heat lamps all day. The soup had no flavor and tasted like hot water and vegetables. The service was also terrible. We asked for tap water (Leitungswasser) and were brought two glasses of water along with the beer we ordered, but then when we paid we noticed that he charged us for the two glasses of water even though they weren't from a bottle. I told him that we had ordered tap water and that we wanted our money back, but he just gave us a nonsense answer about how the water in Cologne has too much bacteria so he can't serve it and that this is a restaurant and not a takeaway and that taxes here are higher. He just talked around the problem instead of resolving it.
