The table was ready when we arrived, our drinks were served shortly after we placed our order. When the food began arriving the children's meals came first which really helped settle them down. I ordered Schweinebraten (Bavarian style pork roast). The meat was succulent and tender. It was topped with a crispy piece of fried pork-belly. A gigantic potato dumpling and a dollop of sauerkraut completed the plate. A nice dark bock beer from the Weltenburger brewery was a perfect pairing with the entree. The others in our group were well satisfied with their choices as well. Conveniently located near the cathedral and a short walk from the train station on Bahnhofstraße or the cruise ship docks on the Danube, if you are looking for a good German dining experience, the Weltenburger am Dom would be an excellent choice,

We found this with a quick little Google search and it was very close to our hotel. We got right in and had a great waiter named Martin. The service was great. The food was very good. The first day I got the chicken Cordon Bleu and it was delicious. The second night I got a pork roast dish with a mushroom gravy and cheese spaetzle. My mom, the first night had pumpkin soup and the second night also had the goulash. We enjoyed our meals very much and would recommend. The atmosphere in the restaurant was great as well. Fortunately SU covered for me as she went happily a'wandering while I sipped hot tea back on the ship. Her comments on the restaurant's traditional Regensberger wurst: fabulous, especially with sauerkraut and sweet mustard on a brodchen roll. She did not bring me a wurst back (her excuse: "it would have been cold", damnit) but she did bring a jar of their mustard: wunderbar! (One of the couples we met on the cruise had been to the Wusrtkuchl before, and they actually brought a spare suitcase to load up for the trip home!). I guess a vicarious thrill is better than none.
