My home was newer so I was able to find the exact tile as in the dining/living room. Step Up Home Improvements had great reviews, were very prompt in responding, and gave me a reasonable price so I chose them to install my tiles. Pierre Grand was the representative from the company that was my contact for the job. I assumed he would be installing the tile or at least supervising but he was nowhere to be found when the workers came to install the tile. The workers did not speak English so there were multiple issues with not being on the same page. My mistake was assuming the workers would know I wanted the grout lines lined up straight. My wife and I had to continually ask the worker to line up the grout lines evenly and the worker would get noticeably upset. At one point, I was not home and my wife asked him to correct it but he said in broken english "Don't worry, no one will notice it". Since I am conversational in spanish, I rushed home early from work and had him correct it. The above is the main issue I had with the workers/company. They pay very little attention to detail and just try to get the job done and get out. I expressed my concerns to Pierre and he offered me $200 but never received the money. I would NOT recommend this company.

Not only was he able to source replacement carpet, he was able to bind / whip the edges for a professional, finished look. The project wasn't straightforward as I had to change installers in mid-project (that's a 'hole 'nother story!) but Joe was with me all the way, and I couldn't be happier. On the phone and in person he was friendly my husband and I agreed to hire him after he promised the house especially the driveway will look awesome. I did stressed multiple times the concerned about the crack on the driveway he replied he uses a special seal that will fill in the cracks and would not be noticeable. First day He power washed the landings of the house. then a rep from Sherwin Williams arrived, we picked colors and stressed my concerns. I was so concerned about the driveways new paint peeling. So,the day he returned to prep the house with caulking I asked him why was the crack cover up were so messy and the driveway seal so uneven he started to get sarcastic and started to say if I wanted it perfect to get a new drive way. I was blown away by his behavior which kept getting worse every time I would point out his mistakes or lack of. When I returned He had painted my new gutters and new porch soffits I was not happy. The paint equipment was washed on my lawn looked horrible. Very messy. When he called and said he was done I met him at the house. So,when I arrived to the house and pointed out many many and all the areas that need touch ups. The driveway was awful he painted the top of the driveway way but not the sides he left undone I had asked him to do it right. He left many smudges and got annoyed every time I pointed it out. I will be taking him to court. For the money he offered and refuses to pay. He also refused to provide an updated receipt from $2400 to $3600. For more work given. I had to find most of the items for the room, Mr. Hines assistant doesn't know how to order supplies! This was in Oct of 2017. Recently we are having problems with the flooring they installed (it is separating). Shower knob has a problem with keeping the water hot. Defective knob. Called everyday for a week and they finally returned my Dad's call and told us the company is too busy to do any warranty work. Mr. Hines assistant said he would put this on their calendar to one to two months, then they might be able to repair these items. Mr. Hines builds rooms for a reasonable price but follow-up is NOT customer friendly.

Additionally they stop by the project routinely during the progress to ensure it is being done correctly and with a high attention to detail. We never felt dismissed if we had a specific question or concern, and we felt that they chose great trade teams to complete specific work; dry wall, plumbing, tiling etc. The biggest compliment I can give is how accommodating they were to my schedule with working from home and having an 11-month-old. They made living in a construction zone tolerable. We also greatly appreciated that everyone they hired to complete work in our home also seemed super trustworthy and friendly. I never felt uncomfortable in my own home, alone with a baby, and with different construction crews around.
