First, they always have a ton of wheelchair accessible taxis in their fleet, which makes it accessible for the wheelchair people. Second, it is extremely easy to book a taxi through their dispatch team, I do not have to wait for a very long time. Next, they have a ton of cars, in their fleet, I do not require an SUV, or an Minivan, since a car is enough, it saves, on time, money, and gas, Futhermore, they partnership with Metro Access, this is extremely important, because not all taxi companies serving Montgomery County does that, but regency does, whenever , Metro Access, have less vehicles, they contact Regency Taxi for a backup. Finally, they are fast and convenient, I am not playing a joke with any taxi companies, however, Regency taxis are everywhere, just look for the white taxi cabs, that start with 1100, and cal their dispatch team in orer to book a taxi, since I must get the confirmation number, fare, tip, and receipt, at the same time, so I know how much I have on my call n ride card, but the thing is , is that I never wanted, an digital receipt, since they are extremely difficult to keep track of, the paper ones are much better, that way, I do not have to contact the county all the time. read more

This driver is the best! After waiting for an hour and a half for another taxi, he came to my rescue! I was so happy to see a stranger and I thanked him as I got in. Story: I went to another WF to work for a day. I took the yellow cab from Silver Spring to Colombia. Morning was good. But to return home if I waited for the same taxi service I would have never been on my way home. This awesome taxi driver was close by and I was told he would be arriving in about 10-20 minutes. That time frame was better than another hour of waiting for the yellow cab. Taxi was 15 min late from the pickup time even know I scheduled it several days in advance. I understand things happen with traffic and lights but 15 min late at 5ish AM? I ended up canceling the taxi after calling the cab company and finding he was 8 min away. Got a lyft instead. First impressions are everything and this does not give me any reason to use them over lyft or ubers. Always on-time and they look after my dad. My 86 year old father users their wheelchair taxis. So far I have used them 5 times to take my father to doctor/dentist appointments and they have been on-time picking him up and often have had to wait for him to finish his appointment when they picked him up for the return trip. Today was a great example. picked my dad up at 9:30 as requested to drive him to an appointment. Came back at 10 as scheduled but my dad was not downstairs waiting for the taxi. The driver went up to the doctor's office and was told my father was still in the dentist's chair. The driver went back down and waited for my dad to finish. Since it is for a wheelchair taxi I have to reserve at least 24 hours in advance. Most of the dispatchers have been great, I had difficulty communicating with one dispatcher. The advance reservation and being a repeat customer may explain why we have not experienced the same problems others have raised in these posts. BTW, the correct name is "Regency Taxi" not "Regency Cab". The website is not "Regencycab.net" it is "http://regencytaxi.com/". You can make reservations online but I feel more comfortable talking to the dispatcher to ensure they know I am requesting a wheelchair cab. read more

I had just seen a doctor about a problem in my leg, and to save me the 4-block walk from the nearest bus stop from my home, I was given money for cab fare and Regency's number. I called them at about 4:40 and was told it would be "15 to 20 minutes." A little after 5 I called again, and was told I should have given them a more precise address than I did. Also, I should have given them a name. At this time I was told to wait "8 to 10 minutes" more. By 5:30, I still had seen no sign of a cab, so I called yet a third time, and was told they still had not found a cab for me! Subsequent calls at 6 and 6:30 (nearly TWO HOURS after my original call!) got answers that were essentially the same -- that they were still trying to find a cab for me, although the 6:30 call elicited an estimate of "about 20 minutes" more. Finally at about 6:45 the cab came. If I'd have taken the bus, I'd have been home more than an hour before I even got into the cab! My leg could have taken the pain. The $14 cab fare (and $2 for the driver, whose fault it was not that I had to wait more than 2 hours) was a lot of money where the bus would have cost me an 85-cent senior fare, but I had been given money for the cab, so I felt taking the bus would have been cheating. I've taken cabs way before Uber and Lyft started for the simple fact that I am requesting a cab to go 20 minutes away from where I'm being picked up even though it's in a different County. I was told I would have a cab in 15-20 minutes call Back 40 minutes later still no cab. An hour and a half has gone by and they still can't find me a cab. I've waited more than 2 years before writing this because I thought the company might eventually try to do the right thing. But that's too much to ask for this company. We reserved a cab to take us to Reagan National Airport (DCA) for a very early flight from DCA to Toronto. In Toronto, we would be making a connection to a direct flight to Hong Kong, so we had to make the first flight. About 10 minutes after the scheduled pickup time, I called Regency and was told they hadn't found a driver for us yet but were still looking. At this point, it was too late to hope that Regency could honor my reservation. I called other companies, but due to the early hour, they could not tell me someone could come right away. To ensure we made the flight, we had to take our car and park at the airport for 21 days at $17 a day. Initially, Regency (Sam Bland, Business Development and Marketing Director) initially acted as if they cared about the extra costs incurred due to me bringing my car to the airport versus getting a cab ride each way. Emails from Mr. Bland were copied to Regency's General Manager Cosmin Casein and Call Center Manager Cindy Crown. But Regency stopped communicating without ever offering anything. So I recently filed a claim in small claims court with certified mail to Matthew Mohebbi, their registered agent for receiving service of process. Unsurprisingly, the company did not accept the certified mail, despite it being sent to their legal representative for this purpose. So now I will have him served personally. AVOID @ all costs! A healthcare facility used them to provide roundtrip transportation for a patient. The arrival on campus was uneventful, the patient left with the driver without issue. The return trip back was a nightmare. All of these details were worked though and approved prior, so I don't understand how the taxi company dropped the ball. There was an agreed upon time and location to meet for the return trip. The patient/customer was @ the location on time and waited. And waited. And waited. Dispatch was called , provided with the confirmation number. I was then hung up on. I called back, asked for dispatch again. Provided the confirmation number and verified the pick up location. Dispatch told me they would " send a driver." WHAT?! I just provided you with a confirmation number that verified the reservation. At this point, the patient/customer had been waiting for over 30 minutes. Why does a company give out confirmation numbers if they aren't going to actually follow through? The staff I spoke to in Dispatch were not helpful or apologetic. This scenario happened a second time. A different patient/customer was left high and dry for their return trip back to the healthcare facility. Dispatch was called, provided with the confirmation number for pick up. I was told that there "weren't a lot of drivers right now" but they would send someone soon. This company provides false hope by offering confirmation numbers. They do not mean anything. I would give them ZERO stars if possible. Unfortunately the healthcare facility was contracted with them @ the time, that is why I had to use them twice. Please learn from this costly mistake and don't use them or trust them for any transportation needs. read more

ZERO stars!!!! They have lost me as a customer and I used your cabs since 1998. BEFORE I only used Regency due to one customer service rep. What happened to Lanore? She was there for a long time and was the only CSR in their entire office to ever get my complicated itineraries correct...Everytime! She always confirmed all information, and extra details were always listed for the drivers to see. That woman's customer service went above any I have ever gotten. NOW there is not 1 qualified customer service rep in the entire company!!!!!! The current employee's are rude, don't get the information right- IF they even manage to put the information in and constantly hang up when I call about the status of my ride. After being let down for the 18th time by Regency I decided that I'd use Barwood instead. WRONG! Apparently Regency is playing Monopoly and now owns Barwood too. I reserved a wheelchair taxi and it was an hour late. A taxi can be late, this is normal, but this trip was made with a reservation ahead of time and one hour is not acceptable. In my opinion, this company does not care because there is no penalty from Montgomery county for this. Understand there is no incentive for this company to have good customer service for handicapped customers when you book because they are a basically a monopoly in my opinion. They often send a regular taxi when a wheelchair taxi is ordered. How is that even possible with today's electronic systems? And this delays things even more because there are rarely available wheelchair vans. On one trip I waited two hours for a reserved wheelchair van which never arrived and had to call a medical transport van to get home at great expense (ten times the cost of a wheelchair taxi). The people I speak to who take the calls are very nice and very helpful as far as I can tell. There is no rudeness and they are sincere in their attempts to obtain a wheelchair taxi. Consequently, I believe it is the management system that causes such hardship. This means nothing will change. Also, it appears that all the taxi companies may use one centralized system because Regency and Barwood have the same central call takers. Have no expectations in Montgomery County that a reserved wheelchair taxi will show up and no expectation that the government will do anything about that except hire a consultant to write a report. It is my opinion that Regency and Barwood are the same company so this review applies to Barwood Taxi as well.. read more

Terrible service! My wife called in the morning for a 3:30pm cab. At 3:50 still no cab so she calls again and they say someone is on the way. At 4:20 she calls again, gets put on hold. When he comes back he says there was a miscommunication and that they are rushing a cab over right away and that it will be there in 20 minutes. At 4:40 the cab arrives. An hour and ten minutes late. If a person is forced to rely on a cab for whatever reason they need to have confidence that a prearranged reservation will be there within a reasonable window. The worst taxi company that I have ever seen. I lost my train, although I had reserved a cab a day before. Right now that I am writing this review, I am in Amtrak station and I have lost my train, I have paid another $154 for the next train, I have lost already my meeting in destination. Wish I had read customers' review before reserving a cab with this company. When i didn't see a cab at the arranged time, I had to call them four times and every time they told me the cab is on the way while I was losing my train. They had put my trip to bid only 10 minutes before the hour that a cab was supposed to pick me up. The company did not calculate that it takes time a driver would bid the deal and pick the customer up at 5:30 am that drivers mostly are off. I checked with the driver who picked me up and he showed me the recorded story. That was not the driver's fault. The company also had calculated my trip for $28-32 (on the phone call for reservation) but I paid $46 (plus tip). I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS company especially if you have a flight or train trip ahead. You will feel and experience so much pressure on yourself dealing with them and calling them back-and-forth. This is the worst company from top to bottom. Yesterday I had to get to work at 5pm. I called this regency cab company at 415 for a cab, I was told the cab is on the way 15-30 mins, no problem. 35 mins later no cab so I call back, I was told that the driver said that I was a no show. He had nothing good to tell me as to why I still have no cab to take me to work. The manager told me he would send a cab and the cab was 8 mins away. I go outside to wait for the cab in the cold. 10 mins later no cab, so i call back and now I'm mad. I asked to speak to a supervisor and transferred to one. After a brief argument I tell him that I'm not paying for the cab ride because now I'm late for work and that's their fault. He tells me that I have to pay which i said no because now I'm late for work. This supervisor hangs up on me. I call back and no answer. Then I get a call from them and its another supervisor who tells me that he's sending a driver for me and I should please be take it easy on the driver and to sign a paper the driver is bringing. Well, needless to say, no cab, so i called Barwood cab company and they were there within 10 mins to get me. REGENCY CAB SUCKS FROM THE TOP TO THE BOTTOM. My son has used Regency a few times for the Abilities Ride program for the disabled. Shame on them. They show up rarely on time. They have left my son waiting 1 hour or more to be picked up even when we have made a prior reservation. It has been very disappointing. This is a service for disabled people which my husband is, cab number #1150 even told him this service is not for him although he showed his ID badge and State ID. He told him it's not for young people. HE witnessed other patrons showing their ID card and served them. I called dispatch and she is now dispatching him another cab. THis is discriminatory behaviors from Regency. You are not to judge simple because his handicap isn't visible to you. I will contact my state authority to further report this behavior. read more
