This isn't a destination by any means but if your in the area its worth going ten minutes out of the way to see. Things looked to be in OK condition. It wasn't manicured like a Japanese tea garden but it didn't have trash everywhere either. It's perfect for taking your dog for a walk - and functionally I think that is one of the most important things to be happy in a neighborhood. I like something green and something that isn't concrete. I also am a sucker for something that is obviously man made - and realize that some are high nosed to that sort of thing.

Being at Ellis Lake now in 2023 will just give the feeling of sadness and beyond belief of what is happening. Ellis Lake definitely has potential, but not anymore with how it is being left unmaintained. First off. Pollution: Runoff from fertilizers, contaminated soil and other products has polluted the lake from human and bird feces, poop, pee, drugs, needles, etc... just floating around on the lake. YUCK!!!! Lots off overgrown vegetation beyond the eyes can see. Too many algae blooms. The lake is just beyond nasty and stinky! I highly advise just doing a drive by, but not going for a stroll around Ellis lake if you do want to visit. Either wise, this place isn't worth it to bring your out of state family/friends to visit Marysville. Rather divert going to Folsom Lake. It's that embarrassing for what the city of Marysville has gone to in a not so positive direction. Shame. Shame. Shame. SMH! Okayyyy... bye.

The Grimes boat landing and RV park is exactly what it's name implies, and those adventurous types who drive up onto the levee of the Sacramento river to take a look might not see too many signs that people still frequent this collection of boats and trailers. . . Grimes is a small town, don't expect a packed house. Next to the main office is a fry kitchen with about a half dozen tables and a TV. Go on in, sit down, take a look at the mercifully short menu. Marvel at the old beer signs nailed to the wall. Let me make one thing clear: I'm a burger snob. I like mine rare to medium rare, with fresh Angus. There are only 3 places on earth where I'll order a burger that ISN'T cooked to my exact specifications (rare to medium rare): In'n'Out, White Castle, and (now) the Grimes Boat Landing. (Yes I've tried those "restaurant $6" burgers at Carl's Jr.. . . they're absolutely disgusting - - there's a reason you pay $6 for a good hamburger at a "restaurant") My Grandfather just took my mom and I to the Grimes Boat Landing last week. It was the first time I'd been inside in at least 15 years. My Grandfather said the cheeseburger was his "no question" choice, and given how long he's been eating there, I decided to give it a shot. Man what a tasty burger! It tasted like an In'n'Out burger, but with a much larger/thicker hand-formed patty. Everything was fresh, and it all worked together beautifully. This beef-snob was impressed. From what I've heard, the breakfast there is also good, but I haven't sampled their french toast in this century yet. . . I have a feeling it's still pretty good. So if you find yourself among the handful of "outsiders" who stumble across this place every once in awhile, go for it. I doubt you'll be sorry you did.

We stayed near the office in the 60s (don't suggest if you dont like noise, weekend live music, or crowds), we've stayed in the 100s, we've stayed all over this camp ground, but mostly we've stayed in the 200s. My least favorite place to camp was the sites near the office because of all the noise, loud music, close vicinity to the showers and swarms of people everywhere, especially in the summertime. For the past 5 years or so we enjoy staying in the 200s due to the low noise since in that area, it's only 1 row of campers, the ease of accessibility to the water for boat owners & quick access to swimming & lounging in the lake. The 200s are a quick bike ride or drive to the showers (we usually bring an extra car). And it's full electricity & water hook ups too. In the hot summer months, the water is perfect here to just lounge and do nothing but relax, chat for hours & soak in nature's Vitamin D from the sun. I personally love this place for the lovely tallow products by walkerstallowproducts.com that they sell in their adorable store. They also sell food, drinks, jewelry, mugs, tea, snacks, candy, some veggies, fishing stuff, ice & espresso drinks. My kids love their daily ice creams in many different flavors (they give free samples!). Hubby loves fishing here for the bass & trout. The BEST tasting fish tacos, or fish with rice, or fish sandwiches is when you catch, clean, and fish fry the same day with Zatarans & cassava flour. It's the best fish I've ever tasted. I highly suggest. This place is our annual RV camping tradition for the past 12 years & holds many memories for me & my family & I highly suggest it. If you know dates you want to stay here, I highly suggest booking a reservation a year in advance especially for major holidays. They fill up super fast.
