There were no issues with setting the thermostat; the rooms were immaculately clean and the service by Megan at the front desk and Bailey at the bar was top notch. As my husband and I were sitting at the bar during happy hour (and yes they have a nice happy hour!), we noticed Bailey going and bringing out the most beautiful and large salads from the kitchen. I think next time, we should order from the restaurant on premises. The lobby has a more elite look that we enjoy.

Bed is comfy and bathroom is very spacious. Furniture and appliances are very modern. Staff is very friendly and check in process was a breeze. They have free hot breakfast in the mornings and usually some kind of mixer in the evenings which is a great touch after a long day at work. Hotel is within walking distance of several restaurants and stores.

The rooms already look beat up and there's a lot of little things that, to me, signal management is not trying to keep up standards. I think you can do better for the same or slightly higher price in the area. The desk lamp doesn't even have a shade on it - just a bulb hanging off the socket. The chair in the room has some stains on it. I'd be putting a towel down before sitting in that one. The coffee at breakfast is so weak it's more like flavored water. The coffee maker in the room is missing the tray to hold the coffee packet. The microwave is not plugged in and you'd have to move the massive dresser to get back to the plugs. In sum it's price is competitive with other similar level hotels in the area- but it's not up to Wyndham Garden standards; I'd expect this in a truly budget motel. Recommend you look elsewhere. We sure will next time we are traveling this way.

After we got our keys to the room, we took the elevator that doesn't look like it's been cleaned quite a few years. After entering our room we were slammed with the smell of mold, dust covering everything, stains on the bedding, and dirt all over the floor. We went back to the lobby to request a freshly cleaned room, and found the next room to be in the same condition. We also looked at the pool before deciding what we wanted to do. It smelt strongly of pure chemicals, and had a filthy cloud look to it. It was indoor, but without any proper ventilation. The hotel is not properly maintained and is suffering as a result.

I don't know why anyone would ever stay at a regular holiday inn over a holiday inn express, especially the one at Texarkana East. Getting a room at 11PM took maybe 5 minutes maximum, and we were given a large, clean, modern room with a relatively large bathroom. They offer dry cleaning services here, along with continental breakfast which they don't even offer at regular holiday inns that have rooms about 80 dollars more expensive... (ahem Austin, Townlake). They have free wifi too. Check out took 10 seconds! Back to the continental breakfast. Pancake machine. Yes. Cereal? Yes. Cold Milk/Juice? Yes. Bagel? yes. Good fresh eggs? No (this is blasphemy in the breakfast lovers' book). However, they made up for it with the melt-in-your-mouth southern style biscuits (I'm from NYC where this is apparently rare) and spicy turkey sausage. They even have gravy (which I didn't try, but much southern. very comfort. wow.) It's also very conveniently located--it's right off the highway, but not too close where you hear traffic. Had a great night's sleep here, even with the boyfriend snoring. heh. tl;dr stay here if you can. You won't regret it. Super cheap. MORNING BISCUITS! :)

The elevator to the rooms was very slow. Our room had a refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishwasher and coffee maker. The hotel has a gym and a self serve laundry area. The freezer area of the refrigerated makes small cubed ice. You will not find a big ice maker out in the hall. They have an area near the lobby where you can buy drinks and snacks (be vending machines) Our room was clean but our trash had not been emptied and still had trash in it from the last person who stayed in it. Overall it was fine for a one night stay but I feel like it's more set up for extended stays. We had our small 18 lb dog with us and the fee for our dog was $25 for the night.
