I had high expectations as I took the tour at Regency deciding if it might be the place for my son as he recovered from his hospital stay. He has Multiple Sclerosis, legally blind, an indwelling catheter, wheelchair bound and his left side is compromised...oh, and he also has a disease called TRIGEMINAL NEURALGIA, no cure, no working meds and constant nerve pain. One of the comments from Corwell Hospital on his condition is functioning quadriplegia, keep this in-mind. His stay was a nightmare. They seem to be short staffed. He couldn't get an aid to help him eat, he had to buzz for water, the food was mostly canned or frozen and meds, if you're lucky, you're at the end of the hall where they start, otherwise, you're last every night. And, there's a two hour window so if you're in horrible pain like my son was, you could have to wait hours for relief. My son took an opioid for pain that messed with his bowels. I complained as they would let him go 7-days without using the toilet (bed pan) and they got mad when he called too many times so he was told to go in his brief. They took away his dignity at 57 years old. A nurse fed him too fast and he threw it all up. At the same time, he was in terrible pain. I filed a complaint against her for her attitude and she told me they all laughed at my complaint. One evening, there were only 2 nurses on the night shift, one was the one I complained about. I told her my son was in pain and she refused to help my son saying she had given him Tylenol. We traded words back and forth until she told me she was going to call the police...fine I said and she did! They came, listened to both sides and asked my son, who was in pain, if he wanted to go to the hospital, yes was his answer. He had impacted bowels and was there for 2 days but not one person at this place took his issue seriously. I had hoped this new clean smelling facility was the perfect place...so don't let cleanliness fool you. Most of the staff hate their jobs and do the minimum required like they're doing you a favor. I even spoke to Brad who runs the place and he's aware of their issues. He said they're trying to make changes but it's not happening fast enough. The people stuck there are the one's that suffer. I had conversations with a few who were in the rehab section and they said this was the worse place they had had a loved one in. I had hoped, because they're new, they'd be different...better, BUT THEY'RE NOT! It's sad! read more
