The building is huge, with lots of different rooms and even a small theatre. The work they do here with young people aged 12 to 25 is amazing and well needed in the area. They offer the young people group work, 1 to 1 sessions and just a place to hang out. They also offer reasonably priced food to insure they are getting a decent meal. Most of the clothing in here would suit older generations, with high quality V neck knits and a copious amount of lilac skirts and shirts! All were well priced and kept in really good condition - an easy outfit option for fancy parties! There was also an amiable selection of clothes for gents, including a large supply of jackets. The volunteers were hard at work keeping this place clean and orderly when I entered, and were notably in high spirits which is always nice on a rainy day! They were hard at work on an Easter display - gotta love a charity shop with seasonal themes. They had broken out the Easter bunnies from the back for this special occasion, and I must admit I did giggle when I heard one of the ladies comment on how one of the toys was "nice, but glaikit lookin'". What a greatly underappreciated Scots word, and to great comic effect - for those of you not from these parts it means you look a bit morose and downtrodden. Seeing people happy in their job is a rarity these days and it was pleasant to see these ladies getting into the Spring spirit of things.

My favourite event is the booksale when they flog off old books from the library at bargain prices. This happens around twice a year and I'm always first in the queue as I'm a total bookworm and like nothing better than getting my mitts on a good read. There's also a tree planted outside which is permanently lit up commemorate the 22 people who were killed in the Clarkston gas explotion of 1971.

I routinely clear out my clothes year to year and have handed in a few bundles of clothes here and happily at that. There are also clothes to buy in here, but they are hit and miss. They do however stock a reasonable selection of books and I have picked up a few for my Dad over the years who assumes cost me £10-£15. Oh how wrong he is. Warm friendly place that is rarely empty.

Plenty of info around about the Heart foundation and it always has wee hearts in the window that people have written messages on to their loved ones. Nice touch. Hi to everyone…read more Just to let you know that Macmillan Cancer Support have recently started an initiative, whereby they are taking Cancer Support to another level in the Glasgow area, which means that any person in the Glasgow area will not be more than one and a half miles from a Cancer Support Team who are / will be located at various libraries , and eventually every library in the city. The core issue is to support anyone affected with cancer, their families, and carers. Its as easy as ABC you just pop in to the library where you will be met a trained volunteer, who in the first instance will offer s listening ear, assist you find the information you may need on living with all aspects of cancer. Moreover they will arrange counselling appointments for you at the library, also on offer is the chance to take up some of thew following ( reflexology aromatherapy. In addition there is a service which in my view is superb, the volunteer will liaise with thew Macmillan Benefits Adviser to ensure that if you have cancer you receive all the benefits that are entitled. In essence this is a first in Glasgow and a real step forward in making sure that no one faces cancer alone We all know someone who has or is affected with cancer, so please pass on the word, help is out there.

Full of curiosities, oddities and rarities, the Panopticon shop is a must see for lovers of vintage fashion, and a great pit stop if you're looking for a retro bargain. Expect to see anything from gramaphones, WW2 gas masks, old dusty books and vintage postcards in here. The staff have made a fantastic effort to turn the back of the shop into a vintage treasure trove, with scores of second hand clothes being displayed from endless rails. There are some real finds to be grabbed in here and at times it feels more like a museum than a shop - the items have weathered the sands of time well! Most importantly of all, it has seemed to raise the profile of the Panopticon music hall, and has undeniably been part of the intricate and successful plan to bring it back to life. After visiting the grand old building, turn the corner and turn back time by visiting here - a vintage store at half the price!

My stop was a quick one; we popped in for a speedy browse before heading to kick off our southside charity shop crawl at The Corner Shop on Dukes Road. I so wish I could have stayed longer, but the agenda was second-hand shopping in Dennistoun and a busy day loomed ahead. It's a little bit hectic, a little bit tight on space and a little bit thrown-together but it's really the kind of shop which merits a half hour browse, as there's lots to see. So, I only had time for a quick look-see, but that was just enough to have me excited for my next visit, and a proper browse.

Shelter me be a good charity but their charity shops are the most disorganised and old fashioned…read morethat I've never seen. Clothing rails are so large and take up so much space that any more than six customers you would find it a struggle to manoeuvre around the shop. Notes Shelter is a charity for housing and the homeless in their charity shops they mostly sell clothing and a small selection of bric a brac, beware of any board games as the ones that I've bought in the past have been incomplete, games are sealed in store and there is no way of checking if they are complete. Shelter charity do other fundraising by cold calling, visiting your home uninvited and hound you in the streets constantly to sign up to a direct debit for £12 or more per month. I used to give quite regular to charity's and even had a few direct debit donations but due to several charity's cold calling by phone and harassing me in the street l find that l donate less due to this.
