I'm honestly shocked this place is still in business. It has slowly gone down hill over the years. I remember when this place was one of the Crown Jewels of the cville movie going experience. Long have those days passed. Food is overpriced (which is fine) and very very subpar. Ordered a beer to hopefully calm the nerves of how poorly the experience started. Man behind the register had to call someone over due to confusion on how to pour the beer without it overflowing. Then attempted to give the beer to me that was half empty. After waiting an absurd amount of time to get a singular beer before the show started he hands me a borderline hot beer. Tells me the coolers are broken and there's no other substitutes. A heads up before I paid would have been appreciated. Nonetheless I was a good sport and accepted my $8 warm beer and tried to enjoy the movie. As for the movie going experience it is very average. It's just so far outclassed by the newer Alamo I see no reason to ever waste money at this place again. read more

Crazy idea, but a movie should start at the advertised time, not 12 extra of ads, plus the trailers. It's just scummy.

Two BIG problems 1. Too loud: The last two movies I watched, it registered 100 decibels, which is very high and harmful to ears, Management must do something to take care of it before it damages someone's hearing. I felt nauseated for hours after watching a 3-hour long movie at that level of sound. 2. Ticket lines: As mentioned by others, please have a separate line for concession. No one wants to spend 20 minutes in line when it is not even crowded. read more

One of the only theaters in town, but still a solid vibe! Overall: B+ Concessions: C+ Ultimately, if you are looking for last minute snacks or drinks, you can definitely get them here (including beers). But don't expect to pay any prices cheaper or at the cost you would get at another convenience store. Like other movie theaters, this Regal is still over priced for drinks and snacks. But you're of course going to the theaters knowing that. Parking: A- There is a local parking garage that's free of charge for the theater and nearby restaurant and shopping center. Haven't ever had any issues finding parking on the first floor starting around 630/7pm. Movie Selection: B+ Like other Regals, this theater shows the up-to-date movies and most movies stay for several weeks in case you miss them on opening weekends. Cleanliness: A- Had no issues with smells or cleanliness of any of the theaters I have been in or restrooms. Staff/Service: A No issues and everyone has been professional and courteous. read more

Went to The Regal this morning to buy tickets for the new Deadpool movie. For a later showing in the afternoon. I was approached by someone telling me to come to their church. They went on to say it was in one of the theater rooms. I got into a confrontation with them to leave me alone. I couldn't even get into the theater for my tickets, so I left. This theater is desperate on surviving. If they have to bring a religion into the theater. I ended up signing up for a streaming service to watch the movie. With my group of friends/family. The Regal is not worth spending money at if they are going to mix religion in with their business. I advise staying away from The Regal. read more

Standard theater going experience movie wise. Cleanliness is touch and go. The box office management seems questionable though. Ticket purchases have moved from outside to now inside at the concession stand. So, if you want to get a ticket, you have to wait in the same line as someone who is getting popcorn. It leads to very long lines, and people arriving inside their theater late. I see from another post that this was a corporate directive-if this is true I would encourage corporate to send a representative to this location to see this procedure in action-it's a zoo. PLEASE consider going back to the normal box office stand. read more

A large Regal theater in the middle of small Charlottesville.Undoubtedly it is perhaps one of the biggest Regals, in terms of saw size, I've ever seen and that is due to the extensive land available and the fact it is a standalone theater (although connected to a very pleasant plaza of small stores and restaurants). The box office is outdoors, which makes for a pleasant environment in good weather but some difficulty (and use of movie ticket apps instead) in rainy or snowy conditions. The inside of the regal is spacious and nice. Showings were frequent and staff friendly. Overall definitely a Regal on the better end of them. read more

I'm surprised that such a new theater does not have power recliner seats. The parking garage makes no sense. It's only one level and does not provide enough spaces. I'm not a big fan of reserving your seats. For the price of the ticket, I was expecting a better experience. read more

I just saw a terrific movie...possibly the last of the Indy Jones series... BUT... something happened that almost ruined my movie experience. As I was exiting at the end of the movie, just a few feet past the ticket person who usually "helps" direct you to your one of 14 theatre...he demanded to see my ticket because he thought I was trying to enter without one. If he actually did his job instead of socializing with one of his pals, he would have noticed I was exiting not entering the theatre. Instead he chose to challenge me in a disrespectful tone which I reprimanded him for. He, of course said I was the one being disrespectful to which I demanded to speak with the manager. While I was speaking with the manager about his employee's rude and disrespectful manner, this employee was smirking at me... being further disrespectful to me. I hope management corrects such behavior by explaining the difference between entering and leaving the theatre. Of course that can only be done if the employee is diligent enough to work and keep their eyes open instead of socializing AND NOT PAYING ATTENTION TO ANYTHING ELSE. The customer is not always "right", but in this case, disrespect, IS NEVER RIGHT. read more

I'm baffled by the ticket price here ($13/person!). It costs more than what I'm used to paying for amc which provides you with new reclining seats and the ability to actually butter your own popcorn. The customer service was average, nothing to complain about there. Overall, I'd probably try out some local movie theaters before ever going back here. read more

I came in at 11:02 to only buy popcorn and was rejected. There was a full machine of popcorn and with two workers. They had to stay until the movie that started at 10:30 ended to provide "refills" but would rather throw out popcorn then make a sale or give it away. Lazy staff from my experiences. read more

Who is running this place? The lines are always long. There are never enough people working there. After a 20-minute long wait in line, they pointed to a tiny sign at the register saying "Credit Cards Only." Am I supposed to be able to see that from the back of a huge long line? I would have had to get back in the other huge line, so opted to go without food and drink. If you do order food, they don't have a pager system. You just have to stand there and wait another 10 minutes for the food to come out to the counter. Plan on a long wait if you're going to a movie here. I try to avoid this theater if at all possible. Violet Crown and The Paramount are much better options. read more

Probably my last trip here. Buying tickets in the concession line with everyone buying popcorn is nuts. Kiosk didn't accept gift cards. Several patrons didn't get their tickets but it took their money. Seating chart showed a full house but there were only a handful in the theater. Those few were seated right next to us!! Felt squished in an empty theatre. No wonder people watch on the big screen of their own living room. read more

Went to the Regal last night about 710 showing of How To Train Your Dragon 3: The Hidden World and wow, this was just a struggle. One person in the box office in a line about 15 to 20 people standing in the cold rain. It took 20 minutes to get get our tickets and when we got upstairs to the concessions, even more ridiculous lines. Everything was so slow moving and we showed up 40 minutes early and thankfully we made the movie on time. I barely saw a manager but let's hope that they were assisting behind the counter because it was madness. read more

The website shares they open at 11:00 am, however they open just before their first matinee shows. For instance, they didn't unlock the doors to the doors until 12:00 today for a 12:30 show. Also, there was a birthday party group in front of us trying to set up for a kids party to start, we could hear the manager be very rude around allowing them to come in at 11:50 am. We asked to jump in to buy tickets, and then we were treated rudely and asked to come back at 12:00. We understand this is the only theater in a small town, but doesn't excuse poor customer service and lack of communication around hours. .. it's the small things! read more

Drove here so my 16 yr old daughter could see a parent-chaperoned R rated movie with some friends. I went with her to purchase the ticket and was brusquely asked if I was purchasing one with her. Upon this loss of potential revenue, the agent asked my daughter how old she was. The truth got her a denial of a ticket. Yes, I know policy states that children under 17 can't see an R rated movie, but I've never heard of it being enforced. The message was loud and clear: we need revenue from parental ticket sales as well. No thank you. We have choices where to see movies in Cville, and I'll be going elsewhere from now on. read more

This is a brand new theater, and I've only been once, but everything was cool. Parking wasn't too hard to be gotten on a Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. I Fandango'd my tickets, so that wasn't a hassle at all. Charlottesville REALLY needed this. All of the other theaters are old and dingy. This is a commercial Hollywood venue, so arthouse lovers, you'll still have to go to the Downtown Mall or Vinegar Hill. read more

Finally Charlottesville has an IMAX theater. Also, it's brand new and doesn't smell like piss. The only drawback is the crazy high prices at the concession stand--nothing out of the ordinary over the Carmike. Parking seems hard to come by. I imagine it'll get worse as more shops open in the development. Overall, it's a great place to watch movies and light years ahead of everything else in the area. read more

Today is Black Friday and while home during Thanksgiving vacation I decided to see "Life of Pi" with my mother at this new Regal Stonefield Stadium 14 in Charlottesville. So arriving to the theater, it looked relatively nice from the outside, but acquiring parking was quite a hassle. The layout of the parking lot is very poorly done. After finding a parking spot we walked to the box office, which was in a state of chaos with the disorganization and overflowing of the line, luckily I was able to find a ticket kiosk inside and use that to forego the line, but was unable to get my military discount. The concession stand moved VERY slow, and the employees were very lackadaisical. The theaters themselves are nice, but very small. 30 minutes into the movie, the fire alarm in the theater went off and everyone was evacuated out of the theater for approximately 25 minutes. Once allowed back inside with the stampede of movie-goers, the movie resumed and went on for another 45 minutes until the fire alarm went off a second time. No employees came in for about 10 minutes to enforce evacuation and we continued to watch the movie at which time a Regal employee then came in to ensure everyone was evacuating. At this point my mother and I decided to leave, as this theater was ridiculous with their fire alarm, organization, and customer service. "Life of Pi" was an excellent movie up to the point we got to, and I am SO disappointed I was unable to finish it due to Regal Stonefield Stadium 14's horrible movie going experience. I would not recommend this theater to ANYONE and would gladly travel the hour dive next time to Short Pump to actually enjoy a movie in a real decent theater. Management of Regal Stonefield Stadium 14, you should be ashamed of your theater and the movie-going experience you provide to patrons!!! read more

I was leery of going to this theater when I saw the tall staircases out front. No need to worry if you have a bum knee as I do; this place is a welcome relief for those who have special needs, either difficulty walking up stairs (there is an elevator), or the fact that every single seat in every single cinema (not just the IMAX) has stadium seating. TIP: Even if the chair arms are down, you can lift them up & enjoy stadium seating between you & your darlin'! There are even a few designated seats that are marked, "Reserved for Companion" and space next to it for a wheelchair. Nice for people that need it, and I thank Regal for doing this. They also offer the closed captioning device for those who prefer to have subtitles available. Since I needed the elevator, we appreciated a tip from an earlier reviewer & parked underneath the theater in the parking garage, then took the elevator right up into the top floor lobby, where we entered & walked up to the electronic kiosk and swiped our credit card, bought our tickets & walked right in. Fast, easy, no long ticket line crowds as I've heard some people get stuck in down below @ street level; and no crowds @ the kiosk when we went for a 6:30 pm showing. I know that theaters make their money from the price gouging they have on food & drink, but $5.00 for a water? Really? That hurt to hand over, but I was stuck since I was thirsty from an over-salty meal. They got me. Grr. The ads went on forever, but we finally got to see the movie. However, this is par for the course anywhere you go to watch a movie these days, at least @ all the theaters we have been to; so I am not personally blaming this theater. At least the ads weren't the low-cost cheesy ones we have seen at other local theaters. This theater is new, they seem to have solved any fire alarm problems they had last year, the bathrooms were clean, and we had a very pleasant & enjoyable outing in a clean, beautiful & spacious theater with nice, large screens. We felt like we had a really nice outing & got our money's worth, except for that bottle of water. We look forward to returning. read more

I'm writing this review during Batman v Superman which is terrible and I'm so bored right now. I give regal theaters 3 stars. The place is relatively clean (considering how packed it is tonight), spacey, and the staff was friendly. There's kids running in and out of theaters I feel somebody should maybe stop that it's distracting. read more

Went to see 'Home' in 3D this past Saturday afternoon. Relatively busy, but enjoyed this theater overall. Theater is new, had a very cool layout, and was nice inside. Parking was a mess, and had to park pretty far away from the theater, over in the shopping center. They serve all kinds of food which was really cool, but the service at the concession stand was horrible.... Maybe it was an off day for them. Our snacks were almost as much as our 3D movie tickets too, ouch! Once inside the movie, we noticed that the floor had not been swept before our showing, as popcorn was everywhere in the isles. Despite the minor upsets, we enjoyed our movie. Im sure we will be back to enjoy another one soon! read more

Don't do it. I know they have a good rewards program, which has kept me loyal longer then was deserved. I've gone to this theater three times over the past two months. Each time, the downstairs box office was closed, resulting in an insane line at the concession stand. I have waited between 25 and 30 minutes to buy tickets. And although they have a few self-service ticket machines, they operate inconsistently, and they do not accept pre-purchased passes, meaning you must wait in the long line. There is no separate line for those that don't want concessions, so even if you are only trying to purchase tickets, you must wait in the insanely long line. The line takes so long because the cashiers must also make all the drinks and prepare all the food that customers order. Each time, when I mentioned the line issue to the cashier, the cashier has stated that they are not allowed to make any changes and that these are "corporate" directives. I don't know how they expect to retain customers, when this theater costs just as much as the other two more nicely renovated theaters in the area. I am finished with this theater. Getting a free movie ticket via the rewards program once a year just isn't worth this hassle. By the way, my email to their customer service center went unanswered. read more

Had the pleasure of going to see Girls Trip with my ladies at this theater. I didn't enjoy refreshments this time but on previous visits the refreshments were great. The popcorn was the appropriate temperature, the soda had the right amount of fizz, and the candy wasn't stale! WINNING. Our theater was clean, it didn't have a smell, and the floor wasn't sticky either. I love the stadium seats at this theater. The seats are big and comfy and they rock a bit which is PERFECT for a fidgeter like myself. The bathroom was clean too! read more

My family and I go to the movies about twice a month. We mainly visit this theater but for the "major" releases (think star wars, marvel, dc, transformers ect.) we go to the one at Short Pump just west of Richmond. Out of the 24 or so yearly theater visits I'd say about 18 of them are at this location. When I visit this theater it's about 50/50 if it's going to be clean or not on any given visit. This location also has the smallest screen allowed to be called an IMAX theater. Just to give you an idea of how small their "IMAX" screen is the first time I walked in (Jurassic World was the movie) I had to walk back out to make sure I was actually in the IMAX theater. FYI, the IMAX screen at Short Pump is worthy of its name. I have also stopped buying popcorn at the Stonefield location because it always has a stale taste to it for some reason. Even my son does not want to eat it. It's odd because the Short Pump location has never had that issue. At far as quality of seating goes in this theater, it's by far the lowest compared to other options in the area. If it were not for the regal crown club program, which is great BTW, I would not be visiting this location. I love the regal movie theater the staff are great but me and my girl friend had the worst experience last Monday night we were watching the movie and we had a group of teenagers talking thru out the film throwing pop corn at each other someone made a complaint and when they were confronted about leaving they attacked the movie staff punching him in his face I think they need more security it's not fair to the staff to get attacked with no back up or safety. read more

I've been here multiple times in the past to watch movies (Toy Story 3, Hobbit, Divergent x2, Wonder Woman, Baby Driver) and always had good experiences here. The staff was friendly and I haven't had any problems with my movies. read more

No stars because once again I am waiting on a crazy long concession line while my movie is starting. I get here early, but still takes too long. They need to have "bank" lines. It's frustrating to get in a line behind a few people to find out they're ordering for a dozen people. And the longer line moves right past you. I hadn't been in a while but was totally disappointed to find out you had to wait in lines at the concessions to get tickets, lines went halfway across lobby. had to wait 20 minutes just to get tickets. lots of things were not working and that took longer,some guy, I thought was maybe manager(because of the difference in his shirt) was just slowly walking around putting up cups instead of helping with such long lines, then got in to see I had to sit in an assigned seat in a half empty theater, this is rediculas. guess I will find another theater that considers the patrons instead of some hair brain idea of a change needed from officials above. read more
