Oddly enough, Gainesville does not have a Regal IMAX screen, so if you want this, you need to make the drive down to Ocala. Regal Hollywood gives that classic theater feel. The parking is easy with plenty of spaces. Inside the workers were friendly and helpful. The building itself is a little older (compared to Regal Celebration Pointe in Gainesville) but the seats are comfortable and the theater rooms were clean. Whether you want the IMAX experience for your next film or just a regular 2D screening, Regal Hollywood in Ocala is worth the trip. read more

My wife and I went to Regal to see a showing of "Asteroid City" as at the time it was the only theater in town playing it. Obviously, it is not a mainstream movie so we were in one of the smaller theaters. The ushers were nice and there was a good selection of snacks. My only issue is that the seats don't recline and by the end of the movie, I was very uncomfortable. Other than that, it was an enjoyable movie experience. read more

I would come again but only for a date night or with friends m as far as small kids I would refrain as the seats are narrow and they also don't have trays for the seats for your food which I'm used to . Obviously it's an older theater and they have it very well maintained . We just moved here and one thing I wasn't a fan of was the staff did not make you seat if the meal deals before ordering which would have helped . I was told by the female manager with black hair that a child has to be 8 years old to see a rated R movie per policy. My son is in 1st grade, 6 years old. I got into town the other day and i had free time before I was going to call it a night so I decided to catch a movie. "Vice". I popped into Regal early to grab my ticket early. The gal working the counter was as friendly and helpful as anyone could be. She let me know the movie was fairly unsold so no reason to go in early. At the concession stand I got a glass of wine. Unlike many concession movie place people, the girl I got was pleasant as well. She explained the wines correctly, which was unexpected. Usually teenagers can't pronounce most except "Malbec" Once I was ready I walked into the theater and noted it smelled clean and was, clean. What I didn't expect was, I was the only person there. With action and comedy's in the other theaters I shouldn't have been surprised. That just meant more room for me. I picked the best spot and stretched out. It was a great experience. And the seats suck I've been in a couple of theaters were most of the seats were either broken or In bad shape. the prices are extremely high 8 dollars for a large soda and almost 10 dollars for a popcorn. the lines are ridiculous took me 30 min to get through not including ordering. The continued insistence to search women's purses upon entry "for weapons" is outdated, invasive and sexist; as women carry personal items in their purses, and men are not asked to turn out their cargo pant/short pockets, their waist bands, or expose their ankles for holsters/weapons. The search is truly about power and continued erosion of your civili liberties. My date carried a clutch purse and declined the illegal search and the manager STILL ran us down to search her bag, though policy clearly states intent is large handbags (for what machine guns?). If they were truly concerned about ouside weapons there would be a metal detector and pat down at the door and all sexes would be subject to this search. Warning: Bring earplugs and don't waste your money on the imax screen. The screen is much too small to qualify as imax, and it's damaged. The sound in that theater is absurdly loud - I wish I had brought earplugs like I do at a concert or when I work on manufacturing floors. I saw a couple leave the (extremely good movie, Dune) with their hands over their ears because it was so loud. Parents should not bring children to that theater, it was so loud. I cannot stress enough how uncomfortably loud the theater was. It was enough to make my ears ring afterward. We only get the once set of ears and Regal doesn't want you to keep yours. Bathrooms were clean. Attendants were helpful. Two matinee imax tickets, a popcorn, and a drink ran $51.52. Between the price and the hearing loss, pretty sure I won't be returning to this theater. read more

Picking the seats before hand is annoying and time consuming. The line is too long because some people have a hard time doing it. There are a lot of elderly here in Florida! I realize that having employees selling the tickets are going the way of the dodo bird. Every thing is with your phone/ computer, which I think is BS because where the heck is everyone going to work? To have popcorn, it's another $20.00 with a small beverage! We didn't need snacks, though... LOL Anyway, great environment. I love going to the movies. Won't go back. We've been a few times. I don't like the fact that they want you to open your bags before you go in. What are they? The NSA? And what exactly are they looking for? Husband and I both have guns as well as conceal carry permits. They don't care about that. Oh wait- I think I know! They are looking for someone trying to bring in water - because a bottle of water is $5.50 - what a joke. They flash their combos on the screen, but have no price listed. Their medium combo - a medium drink and popcorn is $15. Sorry, but for two people to see a movie is going to cost you $40 if you share a drink. Totally not worth it. I'll go to the Marion Theatre any day or wait for Red Box before I go to this place again. Words of advice- tell your corporate guys to get a grip on the prices they are having customers pay for concessions. 5 cents it take to make that Dr. Pepper and 2 cents for popcorn and you charge $15. I just saw Godzilla IMAX2D in auditorium 2, Row-I. So, I go to this theater often and generally would rate this theater maybe four stars. But the sound volume in the movie today was quite loud and unbearable so I'm dropping the rating to three stars. I would have left the show to tell management of the sound loudness issue, but I didn't want to climb over the other movie goers in my row. I believe the sound level in this auditorium today exceeded a threshold that was safe to human ears. An hour after the movie completed my ears and head are still throbbing. I've attended several movies in this very same IMAX auditorium, so I know today's sound was excessively loud by normal standards. It was so loud that it detracted from the overall experience. Next time I go there and the sound is too loud, I'm going to exit and ask for my money back. By the way, to get five stars from me the theater will have to install luxury recliners--and of course fix the loudness issues. read more

Concession lines are always long and slow. Workers move like turtles. The last three times I just gave up. I'm not waiting a half hour to buy $20 popcorn. Hire some employees. I thought they made most of their money on concessions. It's a pretty sad place to see a movie. read more

Taking off a star for bathroom nastiness. As in, always. But they have a good selection of movies, comfy seats, and air temp is good. The clientele, at least in the daytime, is nice. For a nice day date, I recommend you start off across the street at Maddio's pizza, throw in a nice walk at Scott Springs, and end with something cold from Sonic. All within half a mile of each other approximately. Just don't stay in the friend zone (from one of our favorite movies). read more
