Santuario Della Madonna di Tirano from the outside does not look like very much other than a…read morechurch, but on the inside you are blown away with its beauty and detail. What I learned was back in the 1500s Tirano was suffering from the plague and the Madonna appeared right where the church is standing and she told this man that she knows his brother and many others are suffering and if he builds a church right here they would be cured, so the man told others that a church needed to be built and some laughed, but some join and soon they started seeing the sick getting better, and then more joined in creating this church. It took 200 years to complete this church, and when you walk in you can see why, every part, every corner, every inch of this church is covered in art or some sort of detail. It's just amazing. In the center of the church is this huge organ, it's supported by 8 pink marbled columns, it's so impressive and I heard that it's still played. This church was built to honor God and you can tell God touched his hand upon this place.

It's a small town, very walkable, usually visiting duration would be around one hour if you're with any day tour. I would suggest you to come on your own if you don't wish being rushed.

We choose Villa Cipressi because it was closer. It was very gorgeous, we took plenty of photos, enjoyed beautiful lake view seating in a nice shade. Walk from ferry its very simple but its uphill so bring water with you. We went in September and still it was very hot and sunny. There is not so much shade there either. Also you can hike to Castello di Vezio to get beautiful view of the village but be aware it's very steep. It takes around 40 minutes. Also while walking you will see beautiful narrow streets, water views , little church and small stores & restaurants. After that we hoped on other ferry to go to Menaggio. You can visit all of these places within a 1 day like we did.

Almost too hard to miss when beginning your street hiking in Brunate…read more 14th century build ~ unbelievable how this was constructed so long ago atop of the mountain. The sanctuary design still has you feel awe & peace when taking a moment of pause. An amazing presence for the neighborhood.
