Staff can be iffy depending on how you're perceived as a local traveler or foreigner. My wife and I had a quality lunch at Reflections during a recent visit to Lake Tekapo. I ordered the Lamb Burger and my wife ordered the Braised Pork and Wild Mushroom Pappardelle. The burger was delicious. The ground lamb patty was topped with melty Brie, creamy aioli, crisp lettuce, fried onion rings, and pickled jalapenos. The burger was paired with soft thick fries. I stole a decent portion of my wife's dish since she wasn't too hungry. Great spot for a meal! We arrived at 11:30 am and were given the opportunity to order from both the breakfast and lunch menus. The waffle/French toast was amazing as were the chicken stroganoff and quesadilla. The staff was super friendly and accommodating and the cafe was comfortable with a section with tables and a section with a couch. Great oat latte to finish the meal. Amazing views. Very good food. Gave it 5 relative to all other places in Tekapo but it's probably a 4.5 overall. Came here 2x in the 2 days we were at the Lake. Dinner: steak leans on being over cooked. We asked for medium rare and it came medium. Kumara fries were better than regular potato. Shrimp tempura was excellent. Juicy yet crispy. The burger was great though but still on the over cooked side Lunch: this put me over the edge. Got the steak sandwich which was so large and stuffed full of goodness (thick bacon, a whole lot of vegetables, Swiss cheese). The sauce drizzled over it was unbelievable too - not just jus de steak but also blended with sweet and salty spices. Bread was toasted to perfection. You won't have room for dinner because you'll try so hard to eat it all. You also may want a fork and knife to dissect carefully. Service: very attentive. Our waitress gave us tips about where to go to stargaze and shared her stargazing app recommendations. She even helped us skip the line to swipe our credit card by bringing a mobile terminal to us. read more

I had the bbq pulled pork sandwich which came with fries, and it was delicious! Great bbq sauce, a soft but sturdy bun; I couldn't find fault with it. The fries were pretty good too. Warm, friendly, beautiful location and some of the best food I had on my South Island trip. It was so good I went twice in two days! The first day we went I had the chicken wrap (delicious) with a side of kumara wedges, my friend got the fish & chips and another had a burger. No complaints from any of us. In fact, our plates were pretty much licked clean. The next day I went for the garlic flatbread again with a side of the wedges. Still dreaming about those kumara wedges. So yum. Everything was perfect. Less expensive than other restaurants in town and still fabulous food. I overheard multiple people commenting on how great their meals were. Lots of options, cafe sandwiches, specials, drinks, desserts and free wifi. read more

It's a very comfortable place to sit. The hot chocolate was good, nicely made, with fresh marshmallows on the side. The muffin was a bit dry but okay. It was the only place in town the wifi worked, which was nice. The view out the back is beautiful, and other places in town don't have a big window to the back. There's a fireplace. Very pleased tonight with staff and tasty food. Green curry dish hit the spot and wifey enjoyed her beef and red wine casserole. If sitting outside, don't feed the birds. They poop. We sat outside but close to the windows and enjoyed the bird entertainment. read more

Amazing dinner!! Stopped in on a rainy Thursday night and we were seated right away and the staff were excellent, very friendly and accommodating. I had the special, a green curry chicken with rice, and it was probably the best curry I've ever had. It was slightly spicy and sweet and creamy and just the right size portion that left me perfectly satiated. My brother is gluten free and he had tons of options and his salmon was cooked perfectly with delicious vegetable and polenta sides that really tied his plate together. My grandparents are also traveling with us and my grandfather cannot have any spices or pepper due to throat cancer. The waitress was so kind and helpful and would return to the kitchen multiple times to check with the chef to make sure he could eat what he wanted. We ended up putting together a few different sides that he could have with his salmon and he ate every single bite and loved it. The dessert was amazing as well! My grandparents split the banana creme brulee and said it was one of their favorites ever. I had the gluten free chocolate brownie which was light and fluffy and rich at the same time and was purely delightful to eat. The atmosphere is casual family dining and it's right on the lake with a beautiful view of the mountains. I highly recommend this restaurant for an amazingly delicious meal! read more

We walked up and down a few times looking at what little there is that Tekapo has to offer by way of eateries ( remembering though you cannot expect much for a place this size ) and finally with a little hesitation we chose this one.But once sitting down and into the meal that thought was gone and we were more than satisfied. The place has a warm comfortable feel and the hosts are friendly and very welcoming . We managed to get the table near the fire , and just to make it more appealing and brighter the Christmas decorations had been left up around this area!!! And Christmas had long past!! Orders were taken in good time and the meals did not take too long to come out after. The food that whatever we each ordered we found delicious and some commenting it was one of the better meals they had had. To name a few of the meals there was fish and chips and good old bangers and mash . I must say now the mash was done cooked to perfection for me, that being it was nice and creamy to the right consistency ,not too creamy and not chunky. They had well and truly nailed that for me. Beautiful !!!! They even have a small area with toys where children can play....and it works by looking at the children that were around playing there. Just what you need to keep them quiet when you are trying to have a peaceful meal in a beautiful location. Overall you can't go wrong if you decide to eat here even if it is a little bit pricey. But worth every cent I might add.. And well and truly deserves 5 stars even though there is not much competition nearby to compare it to. P.S the photos are not so great as using my older mobile.
