Came here in November,my mum had just died and I needed to get my hair done for her funeral. Had my…read morehair done by a very rude girl the whole time I sat there around 3hrs she never said a word to me other than keep your head up and made me keep my head in the most awkward position it was hurting my neck. I couldn't wait to leave there as i was already upset i didn't say anything at the time but will never go back. Hair was only average I have had better for less money and never been treated like that in a salon my whole life.

Fast forward a few years and I'd had enough of split ends and how quickly I was going through shampoo. I was going to get it all cut off. Well, maybe a few inches. I went along to Toni and Guy with the thought that, sure it may be expensive, but for a haircut this dramatic I'd need a professional. I explained exactly what I wanted: shoulder length, side fringe, bit scruffy but ultimately nothing too edgy. The hairdresser nodded with such vigour I assumed we were on the same page. Wrong. Two hours later and tears welled in my eyes as the stylist ignored exactly what I said, went about four inches shorter than we agreed and layered it beyond recognition. It took me a few months to outgrow the haircut and I had spent a bomb to live with something I hated. Do. Not. Go. Here!

Phwoar! Their website sure does give me a headache. The actual shop here on Colston Street though,…read morethankfully, doesn't. I really like hairdressers' that have some personal style, and don't just blend in to all the others out there with the same type of interior salon-y decoration. I personally would never come in here, just because I usually snip my own hair, and paying £38 for a haircut seems bonkers to me. However I met someone who told me that she got her hair cut here on a model night, where they get a junior to cut your hair, for £5! I pretty much immediately went to make an appointment, and promptly got one booked in. I have to say, the staff are so incredibly friendly - you almost expect them to be 'too cool for school' to bother with politeness (especially since I was asking for the £5 haircut), but they're very nice. Came here for the appointment, got my hair cut by someone who has in fact been cutting hair for years and years on men, and now is training to cut for women. He was great; really listened to what I wanted and didn't at all show any annoyance when I decided to make changes to what I wanted when he was almost done. The great surprise however, was when the haircut was done, and I was going to pay, and he came over and whispered to me 'Model haircuts are free, no charge!', to which I beamed a happy 'Thanks!!' and skipped out the door. So if you're thinking of a haircut, you're certainly in great hands with the peeps that work here! I guess £38 is quite worth it, if you know you're going to get a good cut.

The exterior is very cool and funky and really appeals to the younger generation! In addition, the interior is also cool, clean and young, is as the service from the employees. They are friendly and professional, but don't bombard you with holiday plans and current weather comments which I appreciate! Price wise I would say that Mack Daddy's is a little expensive. The majority of local hairdressers has a restyle and wash for roughly £30 but Mack Daddy's is £45. In all, a very professional service but maybe tad on the expensive side.

I'd like to think of myself as quite an outgoing and friendly kind of girl, but when it comes to…read morethe hairdressers I really hate making idle chit chat. It's so banal and dull that I sometimes make things up to keep the conversation alive. "I'm moving to New York next week.... I'm in training for the marathon at the moment... I'm getting married next month". This is why I cannot go back to the same hairdressers more than once. So why I needed my locks tamed, Reflections on Queen's Road was next on my hit list. Friendly hairdresser? Tick. Head massage? Tick. Boring conversation? Tick. The hairdresser seemed like she understood exactly what I wanted and started snipping away. It looked fantastic until she insisted on making in poker straight and flat against my head. Two washes later and a whole lot of hairspray and I was very happy with my new do.

A teensy bit on the chavvy side and you may well come out of there with the same hairstyle as all…read morethe stylists that work there - super, super straight, choppy layers, side swept fringe and a streak of blonde. If that's not what you're after, it may take some explaining that you want to keep your curls/length/natural colour. They use GHDs and GHD products which is a bonus, plus they're open until 8pm on a Thursday - perfect if you work late or at the weekends. Inside, this one looks just like all there other salons in the city. Inoffensive, but not the place to go if you want a complete restyle.
