If I could give zero stars--or better yet, negative stars--I absolutely would. This place is an absolute disgrace to the word "barbershop." I've now had the misfortune of trying both of their locations--one for each of my sons--and both visits were a complete nightmare. My sons walked out with butchered haircuts that looked like someone was either guessing their way through it or actively trying to ruin their appearance. And I paid $65 each for this garbage. Let's be clear: these people have no talent, no eye for style, and no clue what they're doing. It's not just that they don't listen--they can't even execute the basics. The haircuts took forever--painfully long for something that should've been simple--and yet the results looked rushed and careless. That's some kind of twisted magic: taking forever and still delivering an absolute mess. And it's not just a lack of skill--it's the complete absence of professionalism. No friendliness, no attention to detail, no pride in their work. At one location, the barber couldn't even speak English well enough to understand what we were asking for, which made the experience even more frustrating. How is someone supposed to cut hair to your preferences if they literally can't comprehend what you're saying? Both of my sons had to go straight to a real hair professional afterward to have their hair fixed--and even she was stunned by how bad the original cuts were. I've seen a lot of bad service in my life, but this was next-level incompetence. I will be leaving this review on every platform and for both locations so that no one else has to waste their money, time, and sanity here. Avoid this place like the plague. read more

Granted, I don't have what someone would call extensive hair care needs, but REESHA has never given me a reason to look somewhere else. They provide a solid haircut at a reasonable price. There was an instance where I guess I had a miscommunication with the barber and it wasn't what I wanted, and it was way too short, so there was nothing to be done. They heard my concerns and did not charge me for the haircut. I could not have asked for a better outcome, given the situation. Here's what happened I scheduled a haircut with DAVID, which is about the third time in a row I've gone to him. I paid online before going into the shop, and I remembered saying online that I would tip after the haircut. A half hour or so before my haircut, my card ran for $31 and I got the notification saying it was paid for. I'm perfectly fine with that. I get my haircut completed, and David and I go up to the counter. He says "Oh, you already paid online. But you didn't tip" I said "Okay, I can tip with my card" He said "Do you have cash?" I said "No sir" He said "You don't have cash?" Again I said "No sir" He said "there's an atm on both sides of the building" and pointed in each direction. "You can go and get cash and come back" I said "okayyy.... I'll be back" I didn't want to pay the atm fee, and my bank was right around the corner. So I got in my car (which David saw me do because I was parked right in front), and I drove to the atm to get a tip for this man, and I stopped and got a coffee as well before I headed back to the store to tip him. I got back about 20-25 minutes later and David was with a client, so I raised his tip money in the air so he could see it, and placed it on the front counter for him. He left his client and came up to me and said "what? No, you already tipped online" I said "no, I specifically remember saying not to tip online, and we just had a conversation about this" He said "no, you already tipped online" I said "No I did not. That's why I just did all this" And then I said "let me see what you're looking at." And there was a $6 tip entered onto my card. I said "did you type in a tip without me telling you to do so?" David said "No no no. You did" I said "no I didn't not. You entered a tip after I left without my approval" He said "no no no. I not lie to you" His coworker came over to me and said "sir, there's a way we can tell to see if that happened. Did you get a notification after you left that said your card was ran?" So I pulled up my emails and sure enough I had 2 notifications: The first that was ran for $31 like I agreed to... And then 10 minutes after I left another one for the $6 tip. His coworker said "Oh god. Yeah. I'm so sorry about that.." That's bad business. 10/10/23 Update: I originally had this as a 1 star review based off what happened above; I can't remember if it was the owner or regional manager, however he did reach out, apologize, refund my money and did the best he could with the tools he had. read more

Had better experiences at Great Clips. Had a haircut and a shave, and for the shave portion, I get this as a relaxation/treat yourself add on. I can shave my face at home, but getting it done when I get my haircut is usually a nice, relaxing experience. Barber was Holla, and I must've caught him on a busy day in his life. Total haircut and shave took ~45 minutes, and I was left alone in the chair for probably 20-25 of those minutes. Twice, after placing a warm towel on my head/face, he left long enough to allow the towel to get completely cold. And when he was cutting my hair/shaving my face, he was constantly stepping away for several minutes at a time to give directions to someone. Probably the most disappointing part was the shave. Because he kept walking away, I think he kept forgetting what part of the shave he was on, causing him to spend 75+% of the time on my neck. My skin as I type this is raw and throbbing, I tried to not openly wince when he was shaving the same spot of neck for the 6th time with no shaving cream. And once he was finished, he rubbed something greasy and not great smelling on my face, forcing me to shower when I got home. Tried this place based on the otherwise great reviews, but for $50+tip, there are far better options in the North Atlanta area like Gino's and others. I definitely won't be returning. read more

One of my barbers (at another business) had to make a last minute cancelation so I scheduled day-of with Julio without knowing anything about him. Truly, one of the best haircuts I've ever had. He was meticulous and thorough and immediately put me at ease. I came home from the barber and my partner clapped and cheered when he saw me, he was so pleased by how good it looked. After years of going to strip mall haircut places with their ever-changing staff, it was time for me to find a good, stable barber. He is the one. I am a loyal customer for a couple of years now and I was very impressed the last time I was at American barber. They took every precaution for covid. Now the shop is more lax and not even the manager is wearing a mask. Only one who was fully protected was my barber Hardi. Even one of the workers came in and said that she was not feeling well. Manager did not care. Other workers were walking around with their face masks under their chins. If it was not for Hardi, I would not go back. Myself or my son. Hardi is great. Great barber and cares about his customers. He wears a face mask, shield, sanitizes everywhere and wears gloves. Most of all he is a super barber. He gets 5 stars. But I gotta say the owner contacted me immediately and told me if I could come back that same day. I had other plan that clashed with the appointment. But I gotta say they made sure o was taken care of I called the owner Harti and he agreed to schedule me for a Saturday appointment. I came in today being Saturday thinking it was going to be awkward seeing as how I placed a complaint, but as soon as I walked into the establishment harti greeted me with a pleasant smile and a welcome. I've been here a few times and this place is amazing! They do such an excellent job. Jessa is who I go to and she does such a good job on my beard. I love the straight razor shave and her haircuts are so good. I have a good hair day everyday after I see her! The beard has been trimmed by many others before but nobody makes it look as good as Jessa! I'm very disappointed. Got my haircut late yesterday. They took me as a walk-in which I appreciated. Drake was my barber. I told him I wanted a scissor cut, leaving about ¾" I relaxed in the chair until I felt the clippers taking a cut right up the back of my head. I stopped him saying "I said a scissor cut!" He replied "yes, I'm going to do that". Ok. The damage was already done l. Instead of leaving 3/4" he took ¾", leaving ". Effectively a buzz cut. Not at all what I wanted. I told him to cut the top even with the sides (I'm almost bald). Instead he left the top 1". He applied something without asking or telling me what it was. I asked if he used something that would dry. He said "yes, it's pomade" I have never known pomade to dry. Anyway, I got home and washed the grease out of my hair. That's when I saw he not only left 1" on top, but it's completely uneven! During the pandemic my wife and I cut my own hair with the clippers and scissors. It looked far better than this. And I'm out $30 (which used to include shampoo). Never again. read more

Wow! I'm new to the area. Jessa took care of me today. I had grown out my hair, beard and mustache for over a year. I've only had a shave once before at a shop. I wasn't happy with that shave so I never did it again. The hot shave experience today with Jessa was outstanding, my face has never felt so rejuvenated. I've had seven haircuts here from six different barbers, and each cut has been excellent. American Barber Shop really does get everything right. A clean shop, friendly barbers, very fair prices, and product for sale that you won't find in other shops (they sold me on some Turkish after shave, and I love it). One of my favorite things about them is how grateful they are. By the time I'm out the door, I've been told "Thank you" more than a few times. They seem to really appreciate that I choose to spend my money in their shop and not go elsewhere. I've tried other shops in the area, and they've all been pretty good. Went today for the first time. Sat with Hardi. Not only a super nice guy but gave me probably one of the best haircuts that I've had in a very long time!! Everyone in the shop was extremely nice and the shop very clean. Booking online was easy and convenient. I never even considered getting a Yelp account before this because I don't leave reviews, but honestly felt the need to after the haircut I received this weekend. I asked for 1.5 inches cut off the top and ended up getting probably 4.5-5 inches taken off. I asked him to stop and he said he needed to even it out and continued to cut it all off. Aside from that he butchered my neck with the clippers to the point where people are asking me what happened and if I got attacked by an animal. I will be looking like an idiot for the next month+ and will obviously not be going back. Truly the worst haircut experience I have ever had read more

I had weight loss surgery, one side effect is my hair is thinning a LOT. I have always been proud of my thick, curly hair and this...Ugh. I hate(d) looking in the mirror (-168 lbs in 9 months, whew- I have NO idea who is in the mirror!). Anyhow I explained to David I wanted my hair very short (I even debated shaving it all off but I have one BIG noggin!). David cut it once, and I asked for shorter. A-Maz-Zing! Then he did the whole straight razor, hot towel, tilting the chair back, head/face massage. I normally HATE 'product' in my hair but...wow. I feel like a whole new person. As I was leaving (David followed me out, his service is impeccable!). He had to 'show me off' (I wear my old belt still- I have lost 14-16 inches in the waist). The whole atmosphere is just terrific. I am VERY picky about my beard (I have had the 'supergenericut' joints simply sheer it like a sheep- if you don't know how to trim a MANS beard, just say so...) Watching David work- was like watching a true artist. He took TIME and care. Kept stopping, checking, looking... You can tell this man takes real joy in his work. Utter professional, no stupid chatter, The head massage was sooooo good, with all the crap with the surgery (been rough), I really feel like I had my 'day at the spa'- I felt PAMPERED. Wish I could tell more folks about this... I expected a 'hair cut' what I got was one terrific experience.
