And you want a water feature too?? Seems someone is practising a bit of wishful thinking.... or.... they have been to Steel Park. If you are looking for a place to have a picnic with the kids, then this is it. You should know however that it is not perfect. The playground is not fenced off. The kids can access the river. The water feature has a lot of stone (which is not soft if kids fall on it). Finally.. if you did not know about the water feature and come here with children, no matter what you tell them, they will be a sopping wet mess by the time it is time to go home. All is all... so long as you actually pay attention to your child and supervise what they are doing (I know know I am likely asking far too much here), then they will have a blast, and the person "minding" all of the stuff at the picnic mat (as they read their book and sun bake a little) will also be able to relax a little. Need I say more. Check this place out. Still to find an awesome cafe in spitting distance, but you'll survive. I did... :-)

For the kids, there are an aimless number of activities; from playing on the equipment, kicking a ball around on the huge open field or bike riding on the paved footpath. For adults, the footpath is open for bicycles or runners, but the sheer enjoyment of peace and quiet while the kids play should make any parent sigh with relief. Besides the huge open grounds, winding bicycle trails and two separate playgrounds, the park also offers cricket pitches and Bexley Oval for everyone to enjoy. So whether you're just there for a quiet picnic or for entertainment for the kids, Bexley Park will always be a big winner in everyone's books...especially mine.

It's a park right by the cooks river with heaps of history attached !! ..... Tempe House stands amidst the towering Modern Megaliths and preserves its charm with lovely landscaped gardens and native trees & plants to the region. I love Wolli Creek for many reasons ..... It is the biggest open space in the area and you'll find lots of people exercising and playing with their kids and dogs. It almost deserves five stars, but the people using the park don't take especially good care of it. After a weekend of heavy use, there is rubbish everywhere. I take my kid to the playground here almost daily and spend a good portion of my time picking up broken glass -- I've come to the conclusion that if somebody breaks a bottle anywhere in Petersham, they pick up the pieces to distribute across the playground. I remember walking with my grandfather through this beautiful sanctuary on my way to school every morning; running amuck in the play area; family BBQ's; kicking the ball around on the expansive sporting field; naps under the palm trees; annual multi-cultural fates (which continue to this day) where you can travel around the world in 20 dishes; even my first date, if you can call it that (we were 10 years old and spent time competing with each other on the monkey bars in the playground). A perfect spot to get lost, daydream, have a picnic with mates or that special someone, or start a soccer game. Check out the neighbouring bowling club.
