You cannot go wrong hiring Jason, the literal Dependable Handyman. He is fair, honest, timely,…read moreefficient & easygoing. He & his sons certainly know what they are doing. He provided an estimate in a couple of days, which included a breakout of labor & materials. Jason provided us with Trex entry steps, repaired (2) vinyl siding corners, installed a granite mailbox post, closed off our wood basement steps & provided an access door to the shutoff valves for our shower. Everything came out absolutely as expected & then some. The front steps came out better than we thought! We were comfortable with trusting that Jason knew what to order & do it properly. I was given the opportunity to pick out the color for the steps (though it added a little to the cost), but I appreciate that I had a say in what was installed. Upon accepting the quote, Jason provided a start date, which he adhered to. He was here on the very day he said he would & at the approximate window of time. To get started he requested an Invoice for the materials, which can easily be paid via Quickbooks. It was so easy to accept the quote & make the payment. The Invoice for the balance can be paid the same way. If you have any questions, Jason replies right away. We primarily communicated via email. I thought at times I was pestering him with questions, but it didn't bother him at all from what I could tell. When we pointed out a couple of small errors, he immediately corrected them. No arguing, just made it right. That's rare these days! We have more projects in the pipeline & Jason is definitely hired for that work, such as a small deck, fencing, drop-down ceiling in the basement, a bar & a platform for my washer & dryer. No doubt that the process for the future work will go as seamlessly as these projects did.

It was not too small for the Dependable Handyman. He showed up on time to price out the job and when it came to building the steps, he was there on time. I primarily communicated with him through Yelp and the quote he gave me was reasonable, but he really won the job when I met him in person before making my final decision on who to have do the work. Not only did he do everything he promised, but he even did some things we hadn't asked for. His honesty and integrity are very obvious in his work and in his way of managing his business relationships. I highly recommend him and he'll be the first one I call if we need help with maintaining our "Up North" property in the future.

Technicians do excellent work, BUT ... Billing practices are incompetent and unresponsive…read more I never received, directly, an invoice for work done in May. Instead, they apparently sent the invoice to my condo association, although they seem to have gotten the name of the association wrong and the invoice was not received. A couple of months later, the Association did receive an invoice, with lots of late charges. The Association Manager called them, explained the situation and asked that they remove the late charges and bill me directly. Instead, they later sent another invoice to the association, with more late charges. The labor charge also was highly inflated. I wrote, they never got back to me, did remove late charges and sent, AGAIN INCORRECTLY, another invoice to my association, NOT TO ME. Marked, in Red, OVERDUE. Inflated labor charge remains, no response to my inquiry about how it was computed.

Maple Woods Heating is by far the best HVAC company that I have worked with. They were extremely…read morefriendly, professional, and great to work with. I went a couple of months without heat during the coldest part of last winter ('23/'24) due to my boiler breaking down several times with different issues. I called several different companies to try to come out and get it fixed, but most were 2+ week lead times. My house had to be kept warm by the few space heaters I had. Then, I found Maple Wood Heating. They were extremely kind and bumped me up to the top of the priority list. They came out and looked at my boiler to diagnose the problem within 24 hours and was back with parts within 72 hours to fix the issue. Unfortunately, my boiler was just old and obsolete. They ended up having to come out a couple more times before recommending that I quit sinking money into my current system, as parts were expensive and difficult to find. I have had a couple of HVAC companies in the past tell me that my boiler could give out sooner than later due to the state of it, so I knew that they weren't trying to scam me by trying to get me to upgrade my system. I did know it was a major expense I was going to have to deal with at some point soon. Within a couple weeks of making the decision to upgrade, they had a new system installed. It's far quieter and gives me an entirely new room for space, as my other boiler was a big metal box in the middle of the floor in the utility room of the basement. Now, I have a sleek wall-mounted unit that doesn't take up floor space at all. I also had the 'hot water on demand' feature included, which means mostly unlimited hot water (as a household with only one bathroom, this is amazing). With that feature, along with the new boiler and installation, I thought that the pricing was very fair based on my research. They took away my old boiler and all associated parts/pieces and even swept the floor afterward. I was so grateful to have found this company and plan to use only them in the future. I'm a single mom who works 50+ hour weeks, so I really appreciated that they would just go take care of things while I was at work and communicated with me plenty along the way. I would highly recommend this company to anyone in need of HVAC services. You won't regret it.
