What a fun park!
Mary H.

It's large and hilly. Our large dogs wore themselves out and made some friends. Per usual with dog parkery there was quite a bit of poop that owners failed to clean up. There are lights for night time and it looks like they require 4 quarters for an hour; we were only there in the day time so I can't comment on how well lit the place is after hours. Small dog park right next door. Bring your own bags!

Lots of dogs today!

Large area to roam and get some steam out. There's two sides, large and small and they are fully fenced. Bring your own toys to throw. They have a water area.

Such a fun park for us and our pup! Even though it was 107 degrees out, this park was nice and shady with beautiful grass and hills. They have a hose and big water tubs and pools for pups to get cool in, and benches and tables for their humans. All the dogs were really nice too! A great stop for a road trip. UPDATE: On our way back south from our trip, we stopped again. Today it's 110 degrees and super smoky, and it was still a worthwhile stop! Pup had fun laying in a tub of cool water.

My husband and I were on our way back from San Francisco to Seattle; we needed a place for our dogs to run around and go potty. We loved this dog park. It was nice having 2 huge areas for dogs. Depending on the size of your dog you can decide which side is best suited for your furry friend. There were benches and tables to sit. They had plenty of water bowls and 2 plastic like kiddy pools/ bowls. When we got there everyone was very attentive to their dogs. Coming from a long road trip stoping by here was a great.

Benton Dog Park - small dog section: 1700 Airpark Drive Redding, CA

A nice dog park! We stopped on the way up north and found it to be helpful to tire the little guy out (a Schipperke puppy). The Redding airport borders this dog park and the airport cyclone fence does not reach the ground so chihuahuas and other toy breeds might have a problem with this, but others that are, maybe, 10 lbs and up should be okay. Fortunately? There is asphalt on the other side of the dog park so digging underneath is one less thing to think about. Trust me -- I have seen it all since we go to dog parks every day, with an average of 3-4 hours each day. Water, hose, double gated - although one of the gated sections is shared with the big dogs which can be problematic. But, if you can just see it coming? Just wait til other people/other dogs clear on through and then enter or exit the park. (it is not about intention -- it is, sometimes, about being small and concerned about getting hurt, and then the big dogs reacting -- and sometimes other things) This dog park is on the far side of Redding (or is at least through waaay too many lights that waited to turn red just as I got to each light), but is worth the drive. It has a large "all dog section" and a very nice sized "small dog section" (this was a pleasant surprise since often times little dogs get the short end of the stick when it comes to dog parks, or not represented at all).

At least Redding has ONE dog park. There are several places in town where you can walk your dog, on leash. Here, at the Dog Park, you can let you dog off leash and RUN FREEEEEE. It's rare to find an unfriendly dog and usually if someone's not behaving, the owner's usually remove them right away. There's water, doggy bags and a few trees. There's a couple picnic tables to sit at and people have brought plastic chairs and a couple broken down benches. UPDATE: Now there's a fenced area in the park for little dogs.

We were visiting from out of town and my pup was very anxious about getting some exercise! I was so happy to find a dog park but felt a little nervous after reading the reviews! We got there and he loved it! Lots of room to run, lots of trees for shade and a beautiful view of the mountains! We visited twice and both times it was after the rain so it was a little muddy. Just a heads up. It was cool to watch the planes take off while the doggie enjoyed play time. Every dog he played with seemed to be pretty friendly, however the owners all seemed to be....not friendly. It seemed like people brought their dogs here to run around alone and if another dog tried to play with them, they quickly called their dog over. I've never experienced that before. All in all, my dog loved it and the dogs that he did meet ( and was allowed to play with) were the sweetest! We will be back if ever in Redding again!
