I know it's sad getting excited over a recycling centre, but this site is so good to use, and I love to think that so much of my rubbish can be recycled. In the past, I've had to put redundant computers into landfill, but now there's a special container where they can be left for refurbishing or stripping for parts. It's good to have somewhere to take small electrical goods which will be reused if they can be, rather than landfill. Each section of the site is now well-labelled, and there are always staff around who can advise on where things should be disposed of. I hadn't realised quite how much can be recycled there till I drove round the site - long-life light bulbs, for example. Tools can be refurbished and used by charities, bicycles ditto. Redbridge isn't the easiest site to access by car, since you can only exit one way onto the ring road, but having something constructive to do with all that unwanted clutter feels very good! read more
