They had a wonderful collection of pottery that was made in Red Wing for many years. The person running the museum has some personal insight into the collection of memorabilia and it is pretty interesting. I usually am slightly adverse to Nazi stuff, but perhaps because of the way it got to be here, I found it more acceptable. They do have a fair collection of German items. They also have some very interesting maps, newspaper articles and letters, etc. that have been collected and are displayed down the hallway. The maps particularly provide some insight. It is small, but has a very local character and is better than I expected. Stop in and look around.

The parking situation is somewhat precarious, as the lot is small and requires backing onto what can be a fairly busy highway. You enter into the gift shop, which has all kinds of pioneer apparel, decorative and household items, and books. I was happy to find a penny smasher machine. After paying for entrance, guests can explore two sides of the building. One is focused on Laura Ingalls Wilder and includes family artifacts or related items along with quotes from the books. On the other side are rooms with exhibits that focus on the history of Lake Pepin, including several tragedies that've hit the area.

The staff is always super friendly. They never nickel and dime you like some other places in the area that even charge you with an admission price. We have never been disappointed with the variety of apples or an abundance of pumpkins to pick from. They have a corn maze for which you do have to buy a ticket but it's very reasonable ($5/pp) and you get to take a hayride to the corn maze. There's always a food truck there with fried goodies and of course apple cider. There is a store there also where you can buy pre-picked apples and other goodies. Tbh - I don't think that prices at this location for hot food, apples, pumpkins or the corn maze have changed at all since we've been coming here.
