Great customer service! They will work with you to find the boots you need in just the right size. They help with the sizing and offer a return period if something isn't right. They also offer re-soling, free replacement shoelaces, and free oiling of your Red Wings shoes. They work with a local cobbler (shoe repair man) and may offer other services for high-quality footwear/boots.
I'm a believer in Red Wing shoes. My work purchased me a new pair with steel toes and Gore-Tex in February 2005. I wore them almost every day for 4 years, until they were looking pretty beat up. I saved this pair for working with cattle and visiting construction sites, though. I purchased another pair (without steel toes) which I proceeded to wear daily for 4 years.
Fast forward to 2013. . .I decided to start wearing the 2005 pair again in 2013 (needed the steel toes) and literally wore the soles right off of the boots in 2014. Red Wings re-soled my 9-year-old boots for a reasonable fee. I took this same pair in today and had them oiled, and they look almost brand new! Can I get another 6 years of service out of this pair? It's definitely looking like it.
Yes, they are pricey, but I haven't found another brand that can match Red Wings for their value, comfort, durability, and customer service.
Can you get 6 years of almost daily use from another brand, and give them an affordable "tune-up" to get even more use out of 1 pair of boots?
My 10-year-old boots protect my feet while they're taking a daily beating, and most importantly, they are as comfortable as a well-worn pair of shoes.
Full disclosure: I'm a happy customer. None of my family nor friends work for Red Wings, and neither do I. read more
