Wowza! The market sure had grown since the last time I was here! There's live music, a grassy area, a splash fountain area, and LOTS of vendors! Personal highlights include: Nigerian cuisine (kabobs and jallof), Flannel Fizz's soda (specifically lavender cream), and a really good cheese/charcuterie vendor (Milk Made) I loooved the variety of vendors! A great variety of not only the veggies, etc. that you would expect but you will find other handcrafted items, as well as made-to-order food and 20 Below Coffee. Plus you may find entertainment at times too. Very cool that if you need to pay by credit and the vendor does not take credit cards, you may purchase $1 tokens at the host booth. Gayle and I wandered into the Red River Market last Saturday. We found it to be a little on the small side, but filled with lots of happy people that gave Downtown Fargo an extra buzz. It's a Farmers Market at its core, with lots of produce, bread, and other food products. There's also a shaded area, with at least a few brands of local micro-brews available. I would have liked to see a few more local artists, but Downtown does support that too with their First Friday Art Walks and other programs. read more

The market takes place on Broadway and 2nd Ave North and runs on Saturdays (July - October) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Free parking is available during market hours in the 2nd Ave North and South parking lots and in the US Bank lot. YES! This is exactly what Fargo needed! Coming from a larger city with local farmers markets in every neighborhood I really missed the community aspect of buying local produce. The Red River Market is the absolute best way to begin your Saturday. If you're new to the city or a local you should come out and enjoy the live music, fresh produce, artisan coffee, and people watching of Fargo's finest. Aaron and Erica of Plain State flowers is a highlight and true gem. They offer the most beautiful bouquets each hand assorted by the lovely Erica herself. Be sure to get a bouquet and it will brighten up your week! read more

Great to all the people but get their early for fresh veggies. I also would like to point out no social distancing going on that for sure but you have to wear a mask and make sure you have cash on hand. They do have an ATM though. read more

Last Saturday was the new & very much improved Downtown Farmers market. Packed on the first day, what a turn out. I only have 1 (yes one) comment to make. Far too many vendor booths/tents packed in the space. In the heat it was difficult moving around. Granted I was there right at 10:00am so maybe later in the day it thinned out, however getting there when they open is the prime time. Can you move the food only booths inside Schmacher? that way you can eat out of the sun, sit down and take a rest, out of the sun. Otherwise stellar opening, it would be nice to see some additional food stalls. read more

Food was dried out, veggies wilted and small. Disappointed. Fosston is much better. The Amish veggies are huge, fresh and inexpensive.
