Cross Lake is an 8,575-acre man-made lake built in 1926 that is around 13.4 square miles. The lake…read moreis the primary water source for the City of Shreveport and is also used for many recreational activities such as boating, fishing and hunting. One of the original lakes created by the Great Raft on the Red River, Cross was completely drained by the second removal of the logjam in 1875. It was recreated for use as a water supply reservoir in 1926 when a dam was constructed at the neck of Cross Bayou. In 1989, a 1.6 mile bridge across the lake was opened. Crossing over it is impressive although taking pictures nearly impossible in a moving vehicle. I still feel like a wide eyed awestruck child going over it.

Cross Lake is a reservoir for the City of Shreveport, LA …read more.. Covers some 8K+ acres... If you're traveling on I-220 around the Shreveport-Bossier metro area then you'll hit this bridge depending on if your travels take you through Caddo Parish... Nothing special about the bridge itself cause it's simply an interstate concrete bridge...Well let me take that back, you'll notice you tend to cant(lean) toward the middle as you drive over the bridge...This is due to a hazardous materials feature they built into it...If a tanker hauling liquid was to wreck and spill it's contents the liquid is supposed to run to the center of the bridge and then drain into a retention pond at the east end of the bridge, thus protecting the water supply for Shreveport... But the other cool aspect is the views to your left if your heading West (or vice versa if you're heading East)....You can look across the lake and see the skyline of downtown Shreveport and the casinos and it's a pretty cool sight...not to mention the pleasure boaters, water skiers and sail boats you can see at certain times of the week/year... That's about all there is to say about it...it's just a cool experience in general...

It is on two sides of the AT&T building which would otherwise be very boring blank walls in a somewhat run down industrial neighborhood. Nationally renowned NEA fellowship mural artist Meg Saligman and her team worked to determine what should be painted on two sides of a 12-story building that would tell people in the next millennium who the people living in Shreveport were and what was important to them in the year 2000. 50,000 brush strokes, 1,500 gallons of paint, 2,500 paint cloths, 2,600 community painters, 4,000 community collaborators. Today, the enormous, colorful mural dramatically depicts the story of Shreveport--what is important to it, what has endured, what about it is beautiful, and what it wishes to leave for future generations. The east side of the enormous mural features 18 models, all everyday Shreveporters. It is a vibrant depiction of the cycle of life, with an infant at its center being showered with water from containers carried by a multi-ethnic cross section of the city's residents. Watching over the scene from the left is a Native American woman representing the original Louisianans. It was definitely worth detouring off I-20 to check it out. On a Monday morning, there were almost no other people around and it was quiet. Google says it's "closed" but I don't know how you close a mural. It is visible from the street and the parking lot. There is a caption at the foot of the mural pointing out the important parts. [Review 15978 overall - 56 in Louisiana - 1483 of 2021.]

Casinos, horse racing, hotels, festivals, attractions,…read morerestaurants, events, local favorites ... Welcome to Shreveport-Bossier: Louisiana's Other Side. I was transplanted here some 27 years ago and never left. I seriously enjoy what these towns have to offer. The city of Bossier City sits along the raging Red River and is the place to come if you are looking for a wild ride and a huge range of things to do. If you like the great outdoors, then there is certainly plenty to experience here, such as parks, & the largest rose garden in the United States. (Found at the Greenwood exit) Festivals!! Too many to list. You're not gonna get bored here! I love this place.

The first time anxiety kept me from doing or seeing too much. The second visit I got out more and got to know some of the places. There are a lot of hotels and casinos here. The second time I visited was during the quaran-times of 2020, so it is difficult to know of any large gathering public events being held. There are two axe throwing places here, which is amazing since there isn't one in the greater New Orleans are that I am aware of. Everything seems easily accessible. There seems to be something for everyone to do. Which is saying a lot. I look forward to coming back and seeing more that the city has to offer.

This review spans 2 visits. I never got around to posting my review for the first visit (4/03/25)…read moreso I'm going to clump them together. (2/12/26) Both visits were pretty much identical. Both in the lounge. Both tucked away against a wall to accommodate the service dog with us. Both visits included the Good Times menu and four beers. So despite the time span- prices were still the same. $103 both times. Extremely affordable for what you get. Minor differences separate the two visits. Our first visit we both ordered the filet mignon. Incredibly tender and so delicious! On the second visit he ordered the filet again and complained that it was a little gristly. The desserts were larger on our first visit and only a bite or two on the second. We tried both the cheesecake and bread pudding the first time. The bread pudding was so much better. The second visit was also my birthday so there was additional dessert. Some kind of light fluffy angel food cake with strawberries. It was Devine! On the house because the staff absolutely rocks! The lighting in the bar area is very red and terrible for Yelp photos but we improvised and adapted.

Leroy, I believe was his name. It was my partner's first time. It did not fail to impress!

She #1 had the classic spaghetti with sweet meat sauce, She #2 ordered the shrimp fettuccini Alfredo, and I went all in on the twice-baked lasagne with a house salad. Every dish was fantastic--full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and "comfort-food" in all the right ways. The crispy-crunchy Italian bread slices with the dipping sauce were a hit from the start, especially under the cozy glow of grape bunches hanging from the ceiling and the rustic Italian décor all around. It felt like stepping into a little trattoria. She #1 enjoyed a chilled Moscato, and I had a deep, rich Cabernet that paired beautifully with both our meals. We wrapped things up by sharing a slice of Italian cream cake--light, creamy, and just indulgent enough. The only (minor) letdown? No coffee available. But honestly, that didn't put a dent in the experience. Service was first-class, attentive without being overbearing, and the overall ambiance helped make our little celebration feel like something truly special. We'll be back!

They got a lot going on in there. I ordered the fried calamari and lasagna. They didn't have the wine I ordered so I took the waitress suggestion. Lambrusco. I sweet chilled red. I was disappointed in the serving size. The calamari arrived at 4:55. Cooked to perfection. So tender with a crispy batter. I didn't like the sauce. It was very sweet. The lasagna was served 5 minutes later. It was absolutely swimming in the same sweet sauce. I genuinely could not enjoy it. I took a couple bites and boxed the rest up. Scraping as much of the sauce as possible. Jason ordered the chicken parm. Served with 2 large chicken breast- it's definitely enough for 2 people. I was also disappointed in the fact that the meal didn't include a side salad. Complimentary bread was included. I've lived here for 32 years and this was my first time eating here. I don't think I've been missing out.
