Making Car Buying Fun Since 1931
Red River Motor Company was started by Shreveport/Bossier businessman Patton Hawkins. The same family still owns and operates the business to this day. Mr. Hawkins' son-in-law, the late Mr. Jim Fritze, was a Navy fighter pilot in WWII. His favorite claim to fame is that while in high school, he was a member of the US Coast Guard Auxiliary, NY Civil Service, US Army, and US Navy V-12 Program simultaneously. During his military career, he reached the rank of Lieutenant. He proudly served on the Midway, Coral Sea, and Roosevelt aircraft carriers. In 1953, Mr. Jim Fritze ended his military career and the next day, he joined his father-in-law at the dealership. Currently, his son, George Fritze, is the head of the Red River Chevy family. George's son and son-in-law are now partners with him in the ownership and management of the dealership. When you do business with the Red River Motor Company, you are treated as part of the Red River Chevy family.
Meet the Business Owner: George F.
George P. Fritze, owner of Red River Motor Co. in Bossier City, La., was named the 2009 TIME Magazine Dealer of the Year. Fritze, 52, was chosen to represent the Louisiana Automobile Dealers Association (LADA) in the national competition. For decades, Fritze has been deeply involved in countless civic and community organizations, such as: the American Heart Association, Red Cross, Bossier Arts Council, Boy Scouts, Louisiana State Fair, Louisiana State University's (LSU) Tiger Athletic Foundation, Junior Achievement and United Way. But he considers his work to raise $7 million to build the Sutton Children's Medical Center in Shreveport his most meaningful accomplishment, saying, "I was very proud to help bring this world-class level of care to our city."
