After years of physical therapy, massages and everything else today I had the pleasure of getting the greatest massage ever from Richard. I've had massages but this massage was on a next level. He know what he's doing and knew exactly what my body needed. I came in with an extremely sore upper back and am leaving 50% better. I love Red Maple. Anastasia is my go to therapist and she is amazing. She does something to my fascia that is instant relief. On occasion when I need a deeper massage I book with Andrea. Just as wonderful! My boyfriend hates massages because he always finds them too weak- except with Caroline. Richard and Marion I've used once each as well and they are just as good and unique in their styles. There will be a therapist for you here and they seem to be growing- but I've seen no turnover in the 4 years I've been using their services which is always a sign of a Business I want to support- one with respected and happy staff. DO NOT BOOK HERE FOR A PRENATAL MASSAGE. I left a message on my booking notes saying I needed a prenatal massage specialist as I'm 7 months pregnant, and to please confirm this would be possible. I received a call from Richard, the RMT who explained they have a prenatal massage table with a hole in it. I'm thinking, this is so great, I haven't been able to lie on my belly for 7 months. When I arrived for the massage, the questionnaire I filled out didn't have any pregnancy related questions. I was asked to get on the table and insert my belly into a 8 inch or so tall firm foam pillow with a hole cut out of it and a tight sheet draped over top. This was not a prenatal massage table, but rather a cheaper alternative. So I try to get into a comfortable position without any instructions, and place my belly hanging into this pillow/hole and my head and neck are way down still at the normal table level. I'm basically on my hands and knees or else I'm putting my whole weight onto this pregnancy pillow. The sheet is making the hole smaller and tighter since it doesn't stretch once I put my weight on it. It seemed fine at first, so I let the RMT know I was ready to begin the massage. Not even 5 minutes into the massage I'm feeling my lower abdomen start to cramp, I realize this hole isn't big enough or maybe I just need to reposition myself because I have a sharp foam corner cutting into my uterus clearly cutting off space for my baby to move around in there. I can feel the restricted kicks. So I try to reposition myself to make sure my belly is in the right spot, thinking I must be doing something wrong here. The only other positon I could fit on this foam platform in is to hang my boobs half off the sharp edge where the pillow ends. That was quite painful as well, but at least my baby is safer I'm thinking. I'm still not comfortable at all, but trying to be polite and I SO need this massage for my back. Time keeps passing and every 5 minutes feels like forever because of how uncomfortable I am. The sheet is so tight I can feel my belly is very squished. It's also 40 degrees Celsius in this room so I had to ask for more AC or a fan to be turned on. I finally tell Richard after 5 or 6 times readjusting and saying I'm not comfortable and him not taking a hint or asking how he can help that I don't think I fit in this hole. Instead of asking me what he can do to make my experience better, he asks if I'm having twins and tells me he's almost done. This would have been a perfect opportunity for him to worry about what the hole being too small could mean for the safety of my child. Instead, he prefers to rush through the end of the massage. I assume this means we're almost done since I'm not keeping track of time, but he continues to work on my back applying more pressure to a very sore belly at this point for what felt like forever. So I opted for a plank position so that I was no longer putting weight onto my belly, but hanging it loose instead. I should have asked him to stop, I shouldn't have worried about being polite at this point, but I continued to feel pressured not to say anything because the massage was "almost done". He now tells me to flip on my back and he'll work on my legs for the next 20 mins. I tell him I'm actually not supposed to be on my back at all this late in pregnancy (he should know this), but if it's just a couple of minutes I think it could be okay. I was honestly looking for anything to relieve the pressure on my belly at this point. After leaving the clinic, my belly immediately started to hurt, kind of like the feeling you get when you've been punched in a muscle. I assume this is from so much weight leaning on my tender uterus muscle. I'm starting to fear the worst, can this procedure be unsafe? Why would they offer it if it isn't safe? So I do some research when I get home and find out that no pregnant women should be asked to lie in this position for any amount of time, and that qualified prenatal specialists will have you in a side lying position. The pregnancy tables with a hole cut out are dangerous if you're too small or if you're too big for them. If you're too small, the belly hangs down and can cause unnecessary strain on your back and ligaments in your stomach that are designed to hold baby in place. there's also my situation, being too big for the hole. Especially in this situation where there is actually a firm surface at the end of a hole, your amniotic sac gets compressed and restricts movement for your child which could be seriously harmful. I'm not in complete disbelief. I trusted these medical experts. Yes, I should have researched first, but again, I trusted these medical experts. I can't help but feel like the money made from this massage was more important to this RMT and this practice than the safety of my child. DO NOT BOOK HERE FOR A PRENATAL MASSAGE. read more

I went for my first-ever massage last week and had a really fantastic experience at Red Maple. I was booked with Caroline and when I met her, I knew I was in good hands. She was welcoming, friendly and had a calm energy. The place had a very pleasant and serene atmosphere and there was lots of natural light. I felt I could voice any questions or concerns I had, and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. I was looking for a place to accommodate a same day booking for massage. I must say I am SO happy to have came across this gem. My appointment was for 415 but I got there a half hour early because the rainy weather suuuucked. I was happily greeted by Andrea who turns out was the one taking care of me that day! She got me seated in the beautiful seating area with a glass of water while I filled out my health history form. She even took me in at 4 because she was already set up for me! I must say this was hands down THE BEST massage ive ever had in my life. Im an Esthetician so I reallllly needed it!! She worked all the tension out of all my problem areas in ways that felt like little sparklers going off on my back, so I knew whatever her magical hands were doing it was working LOL!! She was very professional, and listened to all my concerns and adressed every single one. In 1 hour all my limbs were happy as can be! Now I feel like i can work 2 weeks straight. I went for a 60-minute massage at Red Maple today on a friend's recommendation, and it was AMAZING! The clinic is spacious and relaxing with a beautiful, comfy waiting room you can sit in to drink your complimentary tea/coffee/espresso/whatever. The therapy rooms are the perfect temperature, HUGE for a massage room, with big windows providing tons of natural light. The entire place was pristine - I didn't see so much as a smudge on the wall or dust in a corner. The RMT (Anastasia) was great at answering all my questions about the massage, how I could avoid building up so much tension in my back, and afterward showed me a few different stretches I can use to that effect. She was wonderfully accommodating of my various requests for more and less pressure and more attention in specific problem areas. Another of my favorite things was the massage lotion - unscented, not at all greasy. Yay! Overall, absolutely fantastic experience - I'll be back! read more

I am a big fan of Red Maple Massage. Its location is convenient - not far at all from Broadview Station. It can be a bit difficult to spot the first time because it is on the second level, but look out for their sandwich board on the south side of the street. I regularly see Andrea and can always count on an excellent massage from her. She is attentive to my needs and ensures she focuses her massage on that, making the most of my appointment time. She is the best therapist I have had, and I have chronic back and shoulder pain so have seen quite a few! The other thing I love is that on the rare occasion I can't get a massage appointment with Andrea, I can count on getting an appointment with another great therapist. I have also seen Caroline, who also gave an excellent massage. The rooms are comfortable and they offer Thai massage. Plus they have beautiful artwork (by Caroline herself) hanging in all the rooms. I very fortunately discovered Red Maple about six months ago after the previous clinic I went to dropped the ball on an appointment. I have had about 5 massages from Anastasia who is hands down the best RMT I have ever met. I have found that many RMT's get stuck in their same old routine and as I lay there I know exactly what's coming next. If Anastasia comes across a knot or particularly tight muscle she does not move on until the problem is solved. The clinic is impeccably clean, quiet and modern. While it is brighter than some places I could care less because my eyes are closed the whole time anyways. I have been getting massage for about 15 years and this has been my best experience thus far. Highly recommended. read more

There are a couple of different massage therapists (all registered) here, and offer a few different types of service. I've had the typical Swedish massage with both Andea and Caroline, and were both great though different in style. They make you feel comfortable and are attentive to how you respond/what you want during the massage, which is so important. The pricing is transparent and pretty standard. You can pick your own therapist and book the appointment online easily. They also didn't make me feel bad for switching between the different therapist, so you can try out different people and different types of massage to see which suits you most. read more

I visited Red Maple Massage today in desperate need of a relaxing treatment by a registered therapist. After visiting Yelp and checking out the nearby options I decided to try them out. I was very happy with the service, the massage, and the general atmosphere! First of all, one thing that I truly love was the ease of booking. Red Maple Massage has a great online booking system that is easy to use and lets you see what therapists are available, at what time and on what days, and offers convenient online rescheduling should you need it. Secondly, all of their therapists are registered and their rates are competitive with other RMTs that I have visited in the GTA. As a previous reviewer mentioned, they have wonderful hours, and I was able to get a convenient appointment time with a female RMT (my preference) right away. As with most RMTs, the receipt gives you the information you need to submit a claim, but they do not do direct billing. My treatment itself was relaxing, and the therapist adjusted the pressure according to my needs. The facilities are immaculately kept, and although the bed could have been a little more comfortable, the RMT's service did the trick. All said, a great experience! There are so many nice little touches to this place; from the candle lit waiting area to the heated towels to the mints at the end. The setting is lovely, but the real reason I keep coming back is Andrea. I feel my tension start to melt away as soon as I get in the door, just from the anticipation of laying down on her table. Andrea is exquisitely skilled at what she does- not only is she is generous and thorough in the massages she gives, she goes above and beyond by sharing her empathy. Andrea always puts me at ease with her graceful communication, moving intuitively between kind conversation and friendly silences. I feel so well looked after whenever I go. I should qualify that I'm not very experienced. This place is cheaper than many in the neighbourhood, and the two therapists I've seen were very, very competent. I am in a very bad shape body pain and stiffness wise, so have been looking for a good but affordable RMT in Toronto. I was going through Yelp a couple of days ago and saw Red Maple Massage Therapy, but I thought "OK let me see if I can find other places with more reviews". I did find 3 other reputable + affordable places...but ALL the therapists were either fully booked or on a holiday break! So I thought "Oh what the heck, let's try this". Red Maple's website is so easy to browse and the booking system is AWESOME. I just picked the therapist (Anastasia) and the date & time. I literally booked around 2:00 AM, and I was on my way to my first ever massage (Swedish, on top of that) just a few hours later! The place can be a little tricky to find because there is no big sign except for the small one on the door. Red Maple is beside a restaurant (the name escapes me now). It's right across from Wong's Camera beside Broadview Station (I've been hanging around on the Danforth pretty much all my life but never saw Red Maple. It's very easy to miss!) I went there about 30 minutes earlier than my appointment (first timer). 2 flights of stairs later (worth it), I reached the simple but very beautiful, modern reception area where Anastasia greeted me. She made me feel like I have been going there for a long time and she's my regular RMT! I filled up the form, we discussed my reason to visit (pain & stiffness from my neck to toe!). Then she offered me a drink..then we were on our way to the massage room. It's a very simple but very nice, bright room. The simple decor is totally my taste..and it isn't too spa-like, nor is it clinical. Anastasia left to let me be prepared, then came back about 5/6 minutes later (she knocked) to start the massage. What followed was..I can only describe as heaven. My body just melted thanks the Anastasia's massage. It was my first massage and I don't feel comfortable with wearing so little but I was prepared and knew what a Swedish massage is, so I was fine. But even then, the draping that was done made me feel very comfortable. Anastasia is a very professional RMT, and is very good at what she does. I needed a good, deep massage to loosen up all the tight and knotted spots. For around an hour, I was like "why did I not come here sooner?!" I booked a 45 minute massage, but it was just over an hour when the treatment was over (2:08 PM instead of 1:45 PM. I guess because I was the only one there and I really was in a terrible shape, she took a few extra minutes. Anastacia later commented just how stiff and tight my muscles felt from neck to my legs! She also showed me a few streches I should do to help myself out) On top of regular neck, lower back pain & stiffness, I had some SERIOUS hamstring and glutes pain..which was a KILLER. I had informed her about this and when she was done with the massage..I took the subway to downtown then I walked from College Park Station to Yonge & Bloor and back to College Park Station, met my husband..took the streetcar, then walked around Spadina Chinatown on the same damned day. I walked more than 6 freaking hours. 2 days before going to Red Maple, I had tears in my eyes at the Yorkdale Mall because I couldn't freaking take 2 steps on my own without experiecing excruciating pain. My husband was holding my hand and helping me walk but wasn't enough. I felt like I need crutches! Fast fwd 2 days, I am walking everywhere! I still have a little bit of pain and I do need some more ice + a bit of rest, but man I feel so good!!! I can't believe there isn't more reviews on Red Maple and Anastasia (sure other therapists are just as good, but she's the only one I had and saw)! GO TO RED MAPLE MASSAGE THERAPY!!!! read more
