This is one of the best Pub's I have been to in England. The decor is lovely with a mix of cozy English charm, memorabilia from the past and sports. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. On my first visit, I had their shareable Breads and Olives. A large basket of the most delicious baguette bread, green olives and klamata olives, and a dipping sauce of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. I could not get the bread out of my mind the following days and found myself comparing it to others. It is so good you think Paul Hollywood made it himself. ( are you hiding back there Paul?). As a main course I had The Evenley Schnitzel. There is a "Big Boy" portion" and a "half as big" portion. Half a portion was perfect for me. It's chicken, Parma ham, herbs and Cornish Brie wrapped in bread crumbs. While not a traditional schnitzel, it's more of a flat chicken cordon blu. Still delicious as all get out.
On my second visit, we came for lunch. The place was busy and from what I could see from different tables and the variety of food being ordered, it was all appetizing. Once again I had the Breads & Olives. I just could not resist. Then as the main course the bacon, lettuce & tomato baguette. It came with chips and a small dressed salad. Did I mention the bread? Same bread for the sandwich and the chips were crisp. Stickey Toffee Pudding anyone? Yes please!! Once again they did not disappoint. Large portion, enough to share or go ahead and be greedy.
I hope to come and enjoy this place on my next visit to England! read more
