My fiancé and I have been wanting to get another tattoo together for a bit. We were in town visiting family, and had a few hours to spare in between commitments. Called and asked if they took walk-ins (12:20p on a Saturday) and they said "we can't guarantee but the sooner you show up, the better chance you have!" We headed straight there. Arrived -- masks are still required but they provided them for us which was helpful as we had forgotten ours. Not a big deal at all. We showed Jennie our ideas, and she said they seemed easy enough. Gave us a price estimate, and got us both in. My fiancé went first and started at 1p and then we were both done by 4:30. Such a fun spontaneous thing and we both LOVE our ink. Jennie is very talented and has an excellent eye for black line work. Everyone else in the shop was very friendly too. Quiet, clean, easy-peasy experience. Loved it! read more

Lee is amazing at what he does. I had a small tattoo I wanted covered up ( I had tried to get it removed a year before and not only did it not work it was painful, I don't recommend laser removal!) Any way, I showed him an example of the type of sunflower I wanted & Lee turned it into something beautiful and REALISTIC! I'm so happy with his work I get lots of compliments! Tattoo Virgins! Well, at least my husband was before him and his Mom got tattoos in honor of our daughter, Teagan's passing. This review is solely based off of a 1st timers experience. The process is simple: come in for a consultation. Depending on the size and detail of your piece will determine if you put a $20/$40 deposit down for appointment. When you come, BRING CASH as they do not accept card. (In this day in age I only see the reason for this is tax purposes (if you catch my drift)) Which leads me to the price. Oh the price. Y'all tell me if I'm just frugal but their quoting scale to me is tipped on the higher side. For my husband's idea, in pics, they quoted $350+ for her name, date, and a black armband around it. So we just got the tat started this time and come back for the rest. Overall, the artists are cool and real chill. Lee and Jenny definitely put us at ease. They could give us some kind of small paper for after care instructions. But as of now, only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is because of price. Thank you Jenny and Lee! read more

Myself and and two family members recently went to Red Leaf to get matching tattoos. I currently have several small tattoos, and my mother was accompanying us to get her first tattoo. What was supposed to be a fun experience unfortunately turned into one of disappointment and regret. The shop itself is very clean and the staff members were kind and welcoming. Unfortunately, I do not feel we were given an honest rendition of what could be done with a piece the size we were requesting. The pictures speak for themselves with the stencil being what we had worked on with our artist, Jenny, and the picture on the left showing the final outcome. The piece is uneven, the lines are wobbly, and the holes within the horseshoe are nonexistent. After my sister pointed out the lack of spacing to the artist, we were given caution that the size of the tattoo would prohibit replication from the stencil. The downfall was that it was already permanently on my skin. A $60 tattoo will now turn into hundreds of dollars worth of laser removal treatments. read more

Lee Zhang has changed my mother's life. She has always had this huge scar on her leg from an unknown incident when she was an infant. It was a feature that she was super insecure about. She only ever wore jeans or maxi dresses in public. After suggesting this for years, this summer she finally got the courage to get a tattoo to cover it up. Lee had been recommended to her through a few friends so we decided to come in for a consultation. We ended up leaving with an appointment for a few months later (he was booked until then) and left a small deposit. His sister is the receptionist, and she was really nice and helpful. Lee, the artist, only does custom art and was really helpful by working with her to get the piece she wanted. The appointment was in early August and took about 4 hours to complete. They took 15 minute breaks every hour. The pain was tolerable for her but since it was in a sensitive area where a chunk of the muscle had been cut out, it was quite uncomfortable at times. I was given a seat to sit by her the entire time. Lee is a great conversationalist. He really educated me on the importance of finding an artist that suits your style and will cater to your needs. He also informed about the tattoo culture near college campuses (especially in Wilmington) and how they often don't do custom work or work that they're proud of, because they knew they'll get a new set of customers every year as new students arrive. I could see this for myself as a lot of the tattoo shops in Wilmington are pretty sketchy and have bad reviews. After the tattoo was completed, he throughly went through the steps of after care and emphasized that the first two weeks after getting a tattoo are crucial to the longevity of a tattoo. He gave my mom a few sample sized A&D ointment for her to use in the following days. He also booked a check up appointment at the end of the two-week healing process. It's been over a month since my mom got her tattoo, and I can tell she is much more confident. She has gone on quite a few shopping sprees to buy clothes she wasn't comfortable wearing before. I highly recommend going to Lee Zhang if you're looking for someone who does amazing custom work and is really proud to do what he does. read more

Lee Zhang was amazing! Getting my first tattoo I was a little nervous but it could not have been a better experience. First walk in I explained my idea to him, we sat down and he drew a basic idea of what he would design. He was very good at rearranging the piece to be more of a piece of art then just a concept. About a month before the tattoo was to start I received an email saying the design of the tattoo was ready. It did not disappoint, he explained it to me once again and worked with me to make little tweaks before finishing on the design. The day of the appointment I walked in, was once again greeted by Lee and shown the design. The size of the tattoo was larger then expected but Lee was more than willing to rework the design and make it fit my specifications. I was thrilled with the art done after. It was fairly easy (about as easy as a tattoo can be), Lee was excellent conversationalist. I would recommend going to this place to ever person I talk to and could not be more than happy with the end piece. read more

RAUNCHY EXPERIENCE, MISLEADING Four months I waited to get some letters done on my back. This particular day was suppose to be a special day for me to get tatted. I chose this place because I've had numerous family members go there. Lee quoted me a price four months prior to my appointment. I paid my deposit and throughout the months I went twice to finalize everything. Apparently there was an issue with a friend that also wanted to get tatted by the other tattoo artist. something to do with price budget. On the day of my appointment, Lee takes me aside and tells me that he was going to charge me more because of the situation that took place with my friend and the other artist. I was like WTF? I had nothing to do with that situation and it had nothing to do with my agreement with Lee. Just because we drove together means nothing. Thats like buying a piece of clothing at a clothing store and getting to the counter and have the cashier charge me more because there was a misunderstanding at another register with another customer. REALLY dude? He didn't EVEN take the time to let me know ahead of time of his mixed emotions with my friend that apparently had nothing to do with him and that it would interfere with me. I didn't care for the price difference but its the PRINCIPLE of the matter. You don't do that to a customer. A waste of my time. Way to go Lee you definitely set a good impression for your business. read more
