It always turns out so delicious on the grill that I find myself wishing I could pack some up and bring it all the way back to Los Angeles with me! My dad absolutely loves grilling whenever we come to visit, and without fail, this is the only market we buy our carne asada from. It's become a family tradition at this point, and every cookout is something we all look forward to. Beyond the amazing meat selection, the market itself is clean, organized, and easy to shop. Everything is neatly stocked, making it simple to find what you need without feeling overwhelmed. The employees are always friendly, welcoming, and happy to help, which makes the experience even better. Whether you're stopping by for their famous carne asada or just picking up groceries, this is a neighborhood market that's definitely worth visiting. It's easy to see why my family has remained loyal customers, and I'll always look forward to coming back every time I'm in Bakersfield.

It's a cool looking store with lots of great stuff. Everything is beautifully displayed. This is a great place for someone who loves the barbecue. On this day we chose some seasoned chicken thighs, and a package of seasoned chili Verde. The people are great. They are very helpful with giving you ideas on how to prepare the different meats. We wandered around and checked out the variety of products they offer. The store is laid out very nicely. On checkout, we mentioned it was our first visit there, and we got two free sausages of our choice. Can't beat that. We cooked the chicken thighs that night. They were tender and delicious. We had the chili verde day yesterday. We slow cooked it in the afternoon, and enjoyed it in the evening. This is a very comfortable place to shop and we're looking at going back. If you haven't checked out Butcher's Block, make sure you do.

I've picked up a few cuts of meat here and each time the staff has been very friendly. Today, I picked up a steak and asked for some pointers. The gentleman (I wish I got his name) was friendly and knowledgeable. About a week ago, I picked up some of their marinated chicken breast. I believe one was a garlic and herb and the other was their signature marinade. The garlic and herb was very nice and could easily be paired with any green vegetable. I asked about their signature marinade to get an idea of flavors and they stated it was like a Mexican polo flavor. I made it with some white rice and it worked out really well. The chicken breasts were so thick! You could easily filet them and double your amount. They also didn't appear to have the white lines that I see in the supermarket chicken breasts. I've read those are due to hormones in the chickens. Is it true? I don't know. They have a nice variety of cuts and if you like sausage, they have several flavors! Definitely worth checking out. The shop isn't very big but they have pretty much all the basics you would need if you're planning a BBQ or a simple meal for you and your family. Overall, the shop is clean and tidy. This is no fault of theirs, but whoever designed that parking lot, well, lets just say they didn't consider larger trucks driving through. The parking lot layout for that entire area is just wonky.

I was a bit worried after reading a review about getting meat from here but my wife and I agreed it tasted very similar to all the meat markets down south. For us this is our standard when it comes to buying meat. This place has the Best Carne Asada money can buy. In my family we call it, the Gold meat because it is very pricy but also soo worth it. We get the Asajo cuts because they're so easy to enjoy. They cook up super fast on the grill and they're soo juicy and flavorful with each bite. You cannot go wrong buying the Asajo cuts from this meat market. Come prepared to spend a lot of money but you will not be disappointed. When I'm LA we go to the one in Pico Rivera. I will definitely consider driving from Visalia over here knowing this meat market taste like the one in Pico. The customer service was real good too. Hopefully they can open one up soon in Visalia or even Fresno.
