It's one of the few places that sells Chanel No 5 perfume - Chanel are careful as to who can trade their merchandise - 100ml £100. It had the remnants of a Black eye Friday sale that included men's shoes. I am fussy about shoes. I like proper soft leather, the touch and the smell - including leather on the soles and heels. Shoes that are strong and clench your feet - shoes that demand enthusiastic brushing and polish or as I was growing up spit and polish. Proper nails in the heels and great stitching are vital too. If it's made in China footwear or India it's not going on my feet. Period. I found a pair that were perfect. Fitted like they were especially made just for me. £200 down to £75 and wonderful and now mine. They will mould to the shape of my feet over time and will be so much better when they do. Old shoes are like old friends - comfortable to be with. These places are from another time and we must support them for as long as we can as to lose them means it feels like we lose a piece of ourselves.

I parked up outside and was able to dander in. The door wasn't locked so there was no reason for me not to go in. Upon entering I noticed a few people at the cash desk to whom I said hello and made my way to the cabinets displaying all the bridal bits and bobs. The shop assistant excused herself from her clients and came over to me and asked if I was OK, I explained that I was just having a look at the shoes and that to which she replied that I should make an appointment as she was busy. I WAS JUST LOOKING! She then handed me a business card and told me I could make an appointment over the phone. Basically, I got the feeling that I was being asked to leave. I don't understand, I was just looking and the doors were open to the public. I get it that most bridal houses make you have an appointment but if they don't want folk walking in to look at their display cabinets they should lock the bloomin' doors. Nice hair pieces and jewellery but not a very welcoming environment. Like I always say though, maybe it was just bad timing on my part or maybe they were having a bad day or maybe the service is so personal that a stranger is not even allowed within earshot of each bride to be - I dunno. I was excited for my fitting and actually went earlier than my appointment to see if they had any free appointments and it was then that I was told my dress had been sold on, and how it was my own fault, as i did not put down a deposit, but i was not told that i had to put down a deposit.The propiratar said to me in these exact words, "I'm trying to run a business, I can get you the same dress but it'll cost you twice as much." I was heartbroken and they didn't care! The propiratar of star tiara then put up an unprofessional status on Facebook regarding me, saying that some people need common sense and need to realise a deposit needs to be placed to hold a dress. She also blocked me and my family from her Facebook page. Sorry for the rant but I am still in shock. Safe to say I will never buy a wedding dress or bridesmaid dress out of there ever and I advise you don't either.

It turned out to be the best idea we'd been given, because this bridal boutique is run by the nicest, most knowledgeable, approachable and helpful women you could meet. It's a small premises, but that only serves to make it feel intimate and inviting, and not at all daunting or pretentious, but a place that you can feel comfortable in - and it's stylishly decorated and tasteful too. My friend was given as much time as she needed to try on dresses, and unlike some other places, there was no limit as to how many she was allowed to try on. In the end she chose the most beautiful Augusta Jones dress that flattered and just made her look like a princess. I would definitely recommend Laboda as a place to look for that ideal dress - they are professional, helpful and really know thier stuff.
