We used this ferry to get to and from the Isle of Wight about a month ago with our car. When using Google Maps, it was sort of awkward finding the drop off location for cars, so we had to get out and ask someone where to go. Eventually we found the location, and we were one of the last cars to dock.
It's a pretty simple process, you drive your car in, park it, and when you're docked, you come and get your car and drive it out. You'd think it would take forever to exit, but the process was surprisingly smooth; they've got it down to a science.
I wasn't sure what to expect, but there is seating inside. You have your choice of a seat overlooking the water, or at a table. They sell snacks there, and I think there was a café that sold breakfast and lunch items, too. There was also a bar, but since we took the early morning rides, there was no one there. Unfortunately, it's similar to an airplane. If there are 10 screaming kids, people don't speak to them, and that's what you're going to have to deal with for an hour.
TIPS/SUGGESTIONS:
-Bring earplugs or music. There were screaming kids on both rides to and from the island, and that's enough to give anyone an early-morning headache. read more
