I interviewed several companies, but when I met with Bill, I immediately knew that he understood what I hoped to accomplish. I shared my ideas and he took them and kicked them all up a notch. He has a very creative eye and is tremendously knowledgeable. He was flexible and extremely responsive to any feedback I provided. I had a totally barren side yard with a glaring septic system and generator. Bill installed a wonderful curving bluestone walkway, enhanced by impressive rock and stones artfully placed, and filled in with beautiful plantings, many of which provide four season enjoyment. An area of my yard that used to make me cringe now fills me with joy each time I walk down the path. Bill replaced my standard concrete driveway with a masterpiece of pavers that is totally unique and truly captured everything that I was hoping for. And then some. I needed push piers to stabilize my home's foundation, and after getting several quotes, I chose…read moreGroundworks. Their pricing was similar to the competitors, but what set them apart was that they offered unlimited pier depth per section. Other companies had limits--for example, up to 20 feet, then an additional charge per foot after that. I'm glad I went with Groundworks because several of my piers ended up going 90 feet deep across 16 sections. With another company, that could have cost me significantly more. I also had their gutter guard system installed (similar to a French drain, though they claim it's better), along with a vapor barrier and mold treatment. I will say, if you have a serious mold issue, I'd recommend hiring a dedicated mold remediation company instead. I did have an issue with the mold spray, but after calling a couple of times, I was able to speak with a manager who surprisingly took my concerns seriously and resolved the issue. The salesman who came to my house, Randy S., was excellent--very thorough and knowledgeable. He always answered my calls and would text be back in a reasonable timeframe. One thing I didn't like was the same-day discount tactic. They present you with a price, then offer 10% off (or whatever discount they choose) if you sign that day. It puts pressure on you to make a major decision on the spot, which is difficult when you're spending over $50,000. There is a three-day cancellation window, but some people may see the discount as more of a sales tactic than a real benefit. I also want to mention the foreman on the job, Jose G. He was great--he answered all of my questions and even let me watch and learn a little while they were working. Overall, I was very pleased with the experience. Their warranty is transferable, which is a nice bonus, and hopefully I won't have any more issues going forward.
