My daughter is new to Karate at 13 years old. We are in our first few classes and this place is well skilled with instructors but more importantly well skilled with their students. My daughter tends to be shy and the instructors have been amazing. Very professional with training but also with adapting to each students skill level and comfort. STAY CLEAR if you don't enjoy the time share, hard close, border line disrespectful sales experience. My wife and I went in for the so called free consultation which quickly turned into an assumed $45 expense to pay for as they put it, "an opportunity for us to evaluate your skills set and determine an appropriate program fit specifically for you. We'll talk pricing later." Totally not necessary as we both explained we have zero experience. An obvious sales tactic to get a financial commitment before the high pressure sales close to come later. After the session the man leading the organization explained that it would cost $155 a month for the unlimited access to train in group settings during the week. We respectfully acknowledged our appreciation for the experience and explained we would look at our budget over the week and would get back to him. He wouldn't accept the numerous "no thank you's" and asked that we close the office door. Behind closed doors now he said please don't share with the rest of the group but I'd like to offer the program for $100 a month with the same access. After giving another NO he continued to explain to me that girls are victims of rape and murder and that this is an investment unlike life insurance. This guy was a joke!! We couldn't take it anymore so we stood up and walked out and I noticed him CHECKING OUT MY WIFE'S BACKSIDE on our way out of the office. I couldn't believe this was happening. It wasn't worth the confrontation especially to a extremely macho man who acts like he's a lethal weapon. We'll never go back and I'll warn any friends, family, and other locals to stay clear of this place. read more

My 5 year old grandson has taking lessons. At Red Dragon Shou Shu for the last 3 weeks. The instructor, Shon Shifu Cardona, has been very patient and he is engaging. You seems to really care about our grandsons progress, and is very good at getting down on his level and getting our grandson to understand what he's trying to teach. If it were possible... 10 stars!!! Shun Shifu Cardona is a great man and a phenomenal marial arts instructor. The studio is an amazing, family oriented place. For a few years my son was being bullied/tormented at school and it was affecting his self-esteem. We weren't sure what to do about it (because of the way schools handle bullies these days), so I enrolled my son and I about a 1 and 1/2 years ago. Shun Shifu and the rest of the great Shifus have been absolutely wonderful/patient instructors. This is a legitimate self-defense martial art and it has helped me to become more physically fit and self-assured in todays dangerous/crazy world. I would VERY HIGHLY recommend this art form to anyone looking to practice realistic self-defence, or even to get fit while learning something new. This place is seriously the best. We had previously been at another karate studio but it quickly became out of our price range. Shou shu has become the best investment in our kids we could have made. I have had some exposure in a few different martial arts. Over 20 years ago, I had looked at a "roots" school of Moore's and was not impressed with the instructors that I met there and never had any interest in attending any of their schools. When I came across Red Dragon Shou Shu, it looked like a mix of Kung Fu and Karate. I wanted my children to learn martial arts and tried out their demo class. When I realized that it was off the line of Moore's, I almost walked out. But I paid for the demo and decided to see if it changed....and it has. The instructor, Shun Shifu Cardona, pleasantly surprised me. His confident, but kind and humble, personality is very refreshing. He is very patient with children, but stern and strict without crushing their self-esteem. Shou Shu starts out with harder style which I feel is good for beginners because they can see and feel the solid moves. As they advance, it evolves into a softer style, like a dance. Well, with my short amount of exposure to it, that's what I feel. It's not just defense. It is offense too. It is a very friendly and family oriented environment. Shun Shifu Cardona even has his little boys participating in many of the classes. If you choose this style of martial arts, I believe that you will be very pleased with this school.
