Charlie on the Roof was above my expectations, I felt like I was back home in California. The rolls were delicious with generous amounts of fish. The sushi chef spoke fluent English and was open to whatever modifications I wanted. Beyond the sushi, the atmosphere was lovely with castle and beach views as well as live music on weekends. Anyhow service was awful, the sommelier was pushing for the expensive wines, not top shelf, in turkey alcohol is expensive, however, we order 2 bottles of sake, wine and a lot of food. Service was unapologetically poor. The fish was not fresh. Ingredients lacked freshness. The terrace area was loud and even the staff were so confused with the food orders and drinks. We finished with dessert and a round of whiskey; and they brought us a cake, but they refused to serve us the whisky because they were expecting another party. So we ended up @ the hotel bar upstairs which is a by far a better. Every single night during our stay we would end up upstairs, the staff is always so friendly and welcoming. The mocktails are fantastic. The Director of the Restaurant heard about our experience and offered my father and everyone his deepest apologies and we told him about the lack of experience quality. He was happy we shared our comments.

The restaurant is located on the terrace of D-Hotel Maris (one of 4 Leading Hotels of the World in Turkey). It is the signature restaurant of the hotel and prices are fairly expensive (approx 80-90€ pp) but you will quickly discover that every penny you spend is definitely worth it. I have been there for more than 15 times in the last two summers and there have not been a single experience that I have regretted... Suggested dishes: Marinated black cod, spicy tenderloin beef with sesame, salmon fillet with teriyaki sauce, grilled chilean seabass with green chili, grilled tofu salad, any of the sushi dishes...
