It's a great view of Orleans and Chatham from the water and Captain Rob provides a great telling of all the lore of the area and the sea animals, seals and sharks alike. We met our tour guide, Abbie, in front of the police station and we instantly knew this would be a great day. Abbie shared stories about the area and guided us on things to do around town. We tasted food from several local establishments, got a free sample from Eventide And finished the tour with a flight of beer from the local brewery. We found a friend in Abbie too! For $100 (cash or check only), you receive a 55-minute narrated boat tour, a bonafide Downeast feast (fish chowder, 1 lb. of steamers, 2 lobsters, corn on the cob, a baked potato, an onion, a hard-boiled egg, a large piece of blueberry cake & either coffee, tea, iced tea or water). You can purchase sodas ($2) or alcoholic beverages. We indulged in the light & tasty Cabbage Island Aide ($10), with Pinnacle blueberry vodka, pink lemonade & a splash of club soda garnished with Maine blueberries. Only cash is accepted for drinks and gift shop purchases. After finding a picnic table, either indoors or out, your server will take your drink order & bring your fish chowder. Shortly afterwards, the dinner bell will ring & you head down to the pit where the food is cooked to pick up your meal. Our delightful young server, Griffin, graciously offered to pick up our trays & bring them to our table. He remained attentive & solicitous the entire time we were there. We couldn't have asked for better service. There is a gratuity jar on each table. Tip generously! These kids do a fabulous job! We were also pleased that the two Moore brothers who have owned this family business for 38 years stopped by every table individually to ensure that all were having a good time. And at the end of the day, they stood on the dock waving as our boat left Cabbage Island. Such a gracious gesture! I'm looking forward to making this an annual event. Please be aware, though, that parking is expensive in Boothbay Harbor. There is metered street parking, if you can find an open spot, but be prepared to walk a distance to the ticket booth. The photo ops are endless here. The lobster bake for dinner was scrumptious! The owner, Todd, has a brother who is a lobster fisherman. He caught our lobsters the morning of the wedding! The corn on the cob was so sweet and the potatoes fluffy! Todd is a wonderful host and is so welcoming. I showed up a little early so we were browsing outside. Todd came right out and introduced himself and gave us a little tour and some interesting history of how his predecessors opened the Bed and Breakfast. I would've given 5 stars but we did have some "communication" issues with Todd's wife, Karen. In all fairness to her, she did admit to me on the phone that she was only involved since Todd's Mom had passed away 2 years ago. I don't think this is her "niche" and, sadly it shows. Imo, she doesn't seem like a "people person" which caused some unnecessary stress at times. However, I do have to say she is a fantastic cook! Overall, I do recommend The Mooring Bed and Breakfast.

It made our entire stay happier to have the beautiful Christmas trees and lots of decorations. Our rooms were large and comfortable, and the bathrooms were also quite large. Everything was SO comfortable. Ashley, the manager, was delightful and helpful. The location is in a quiet neighborhood that is just a few minutes walk to downtown Rockland, which was filled with nice places to shop, eat, drink, and even had a chocolate factory! We will definitely return. The breakfast was very nice with fresh ingredients and was filling without being overblown.

We went on a family kayaking trip and used Breakwater Kayak as our guide and outfitter for the…read moretrip. It was very easy to work with the staff to make the arrangements, and they made the trip happen even though they were not fully staffed for their in-season time. When we arrived the staff had taken the kayaks down to a grassy area in the park. The guide got us fitted with life vests, paddles, and spray skirts, and then it was down to the boats for some quick lessons about paddling technique. We were soon out on the water. The guide did a great level of working with our level of experience and provided clear directions about the paddle. We crossed the bay from the put in location to the Breakwater Lighthouse. While this lighthouse is accessible by walking the length of the breakwater (.8 miles) it was great fun to see it by the water. Once we got to the light, we then paddled down the length of the breakwater to a beach by the Samoset resort. The wind was blowing pretty strong from the shore, so this was a pretty good paddle. Once we got to the beach, we were able to get out of the boats for a few minutes and then we were back on the water. The next leg was a pretty good open water crossing again as we made our way back across the bay towards the shipyards. Here you get to see some of the industrial sides of the water. People who depend on the sea to make a living. There was a fishing dock where large fishing boats offload, there is the coast guard station, and then there is the marina and restaurants. Overall we were on the water for just over 3 hours. Our guide was fantastic. She was very knowledgeable about key subjects and really provided a very educational as well as enjoyable paddle. We heard stories about the lighthouses, we learned the history or the area, the lobster fishing industry and all about the ports. While Breakwater Kayak is a smaller operation than some of the others in the area, you are guaranteed to get a well-trained guide who is really wanting to make sure that you have a safe and memorable adventure.

We called last minute and were able to get a room. It was a small room, but it was clean and comfortable! We wanted to come back for a stay on our return trip from Canada but they were booked solid. The breakfast was good and vegetarian for the particular morning we were there. They make cookies each evening, but we weren't there to enjoy since we were in town. On that note it is very close and walkable to to center of town. It's just across the foot bridge. I would most definitely recommend and would return for a stay!

Just a few minute walk to downtown Booth Bay Harbor. We arrived early and were able to park our car and head into town to explore. Breakfast the next morning began with a fresh fruit plate followed by scrambled eggs with chives, sweet potatoes and cranberry orange biscuit.
