I ordered 3 things and only received 2. I ordered a Chinese or jasmine tea, never got it( was not charged for it). I did get a water. I ordered shrimp salad rolls, due to having pork or beef was an additional cost. Shrimp salad rolls (4) for $11, pork or beef (2) for $11. I ordered the steak beef and beef brisket pho. The noodle were cooked well. There was very little meat. The broth was very bland. I will not eat here again. read more

First time to this place since my friends say it is excellent! This restaurant is located in a strip mall behind Superstore, looks fairly new and is very clean. Lots of parking in the area. We were greeted right away and seated into a booth. The menu offers a variety of Asian dishes, not just Vietnamese. For appetizers, there is onion cake, deep fried wonton and vegetable tempura to name a few. Other entrees include pad Thai, Singapore noodle, Shanghai noodles, fried rice and stir fries. Of course there's the traditional pho/noodle soups and vermicelli bowls. We had the three color vermicelli which means you get three items - spring roll, and two kinds of grilled meat for $10.95. The portion was a good size and I find the price comparable with other restaurants. There is also a few dessert choices although we didn't order any. I am curious what the deep fried pineapple with honey sauce would taste like. Our dinner was good and I would definitely go back to try something else. read more

I've been here once before for a family get together. I was impressed at that time. My sweetheart and I were out shopping and running all our errands, nothing worse than leaving a grocery store when you're hungry. We both decided we should go grab a quick bite. I said I was making the decision and it was a surprise. We walk through the doors and it is dinner time. The place is half full and there isn't even a full roar amongst all the patrons. We get seated in a booth and start to review the menu. All the choices are hard to make because it all sounds good. My sweetheart chose lemongrass chicken stir fry with coconut rice and I had the ginger beef with coconut rice as well. Okay I'm just going to come out and say it now, this place has the best coconut rice that I've ever eaten! Now our food was spectacular but that rice brought the whole meal together in a way I never imagined! The plating is simple but portion size is deceiving, we didn't think the meal looked very big. Once we had dinner we basically had to roll ourselves out the door! Best part is it was cheap! For our meals and a pot of green tea it was $35. Sorry but that's a deal that is tough to beat. Went there with a friend Saturday evening. Service was really poor! Had to keep asking the server for stuff and wouldn't get it. So we flagged a different server & finally managed to get a little service. My friend ordered the Peach Prawns & says they were good. I had the beef/brisket soup & that was not good. Lacked flavour & was much smaller than the usual restaurants I had ordered it at. Definitely won't be coming back here. read more

A quaint little Vietnamese eatery located on the outskirts of spruce grove. While the inside of the building may not be much to look at, the food is a different story. Their wonton soup is delicious, their chicken dishes are flavourful and their green onion cakes to die for. All in all I do recommend this venue especially if you like Vietnamese. read more

Good news but more bad news. This ones right down the middle and 3 maybe too high. The Parking lot was good. Upon entering the restaurant it was little confusing as there wasn't a way to tell if it was wait to be seated or just find a spot. No greeter or sign was present. With booths and fairly high partitions it was hard to see if there were empty spots for our party size. Finally after a bit of a wait we were greeted and had to wait for a clean table. The breezeway door didn't close by itself and being winter it was freezing one side of the restaurant. One table kept getting up to close the door. The bathroom was well above average with a few $$ spent on nice large tiles and counter. A decent size menu that was easy to read and fairly well laid out. Good food that came quickly but very very small portions. I would not call the food excellent. Prices, even if they were average size portions, were 10% higher than average. The large won ton soup came in a bowl the size of an army helmet with only 8 wontons. The Ginger beef had a whopping 15 strips of beef. At the end of the meal there was zero left to take home. An odd situation to be in when ordering 6 dishes and spending $80-90 and no alcohol. Out if the 6 dishes the soup was the best with the rest not really worth mentioning. I felt I overpaid for very little and just managed to feed 4 people one plateful each. At a cost of over $20 a head it wasn't worth it. FOH could have used one more person as we waited a while between points of contact. The table next to us which was empty still had dirty dishes and they remained there for almost the entire time we were there. They didn't clear our empty dishes as we moved them to the edge of the table. This caused the table to be extremely cluttered the entire time instead at just the beginning when all plates are full. We were missing one dish for half the meal when we finally had to flag down a different server to find it. I doubt I would return even if the food had been a 5/5. read more

Had a family dinner here the other night and we were looking forward to a delicious meal together but had several frustrations and disappointments. We ordered a number of appetizers--spring rolls, both vegetable and pork kinds, green onion cakes and salad rolls. They were all quite tasty. Then we ordered the main meal -- several different entrees/dishes to share. This is where things started to go sideways. A number of different people brought things to the table--including clean plates. After three deliveries to the table and not removing any of the dirty dishes, we finally called somebody over to take the dirty dishes. The various dishes that came were very spread apart and basically each dish was finished before they brought the next item. Portion sizes were on the small size for the prices. We almost didn't have enough food for our group despite the appetizers and multiple dishes. Another frustration was that several dishes came without serving spoons/utensils. Food was fairly good flavour wise. I would probably rate service as a 2 and food as a 3 or 4 and price as a 3. The seafood stir fry sweet and sour was good but very different. It is a variety of seafood all tempura deep fried and served in a sweet and sour sauce -- wasn't quite what we thought of with a stir fry. Supposed to have squid in it but nobody recalls having any -- mostly fish, a couple shrimp and a scallop or two. read more

We live in the subdivision right across from Red Chili Leaf, so we eat here quite often--usually at least once per week. The staff has always been very nice, and even when the restaurant is packed the service is quick. The ladies recognize us now, and usually remember our order as well. This is hands down the best Asian food of any kind in Spruce Grove. I almost always get the lettuce wraps. They come with this peanut or cashew sauce that is so amazing. I have also had some of the noodle bowls and they are great as well. One of the best things about this place is the service and the speed that they are able to crank out these amazing dishes. I don't think I have ever waited longer than 20 minutes from ordering to get my food. read more

Interior was adequate and neat. Kitchen seemed clean from what was visible. Special beef noodle soup was average but noodle to broth ratio was too much. The service was the worst I've had in a long time. It took over 15 minutes for them to come take our order. We had to try to get their attention for 5 minutes in order to get spoons for our soups. Then had to ask for sprouts. And because I didn't specifically ask for basil and lime, they ONLY brought the sprouts. Would never come back. read more

Wasn't going to give any stars. To compare this to many other Vietnamese restaurants it's terrible. The service leaves much to be desired. The women are too busy counting money and using the computers. One in particular had a very sour look on her face. After taking your order the waitress disappears. The last you see her is when she gives you your food, doesn't wait to see if you want anything else. If you need anything at all, you have to walk to the front and ask . The portions are very small. Not worth the price. Certain items missing from what the menu describes the dish. I will never return. read more

The service was slow, not attentive to our simple table of two. Definitely not traditional Vietnamese cuisine. We had Pad Thai that was oily and lacked flavour. This place was recommended to me by someone I work with but I have to say, I wasn't impressed! I looked up their website and called in to make my order (ginger beef with coconut rice). The woman on the phone was very distracted so it was a confusing call, but my order was processed quickly and she said it would be ready in 20 minutes. When I arrived at the restaurant it seemed very nice and cozy inside, and was quite busy. I was greeted immediately by a friendly young man who went to find out about my order. He was probably the best part of the experience! The woman who packed my order was very rushed and unfriendly. When I sat to eat my food I found the rice was very delicious but the rest... not so much. The beef was very chewy- some of it inedible and almost tasting like soap. I also got a few enormous pieces of ginger and a piece of black plastic in my meal. Probably wouldn't go back! read more
