I was just at Red Bluff Lodge for an alligator hunt and I could not be more satisfied with the experience. Jim's lodge on the property is an outstanding hunter's heaven - comfortable, surrounded by trophies from all over Africa as well as mounts of the turkey, big whitetail bucks, and gators that they offer guests to hunt. My alligator hunt began by trailering Jim's thoughtfully outfitted boat to the Combahee River which is part of the ACE Basin. We put the boat in around dusk. Jim and Jamie are veterans of many hunts, and it shows. It took a while for the weather to get right for the gators to come out. Jamie expertly handles the spotlight looking for the glowing red eyes of the gators that are out looking for a meal. The idea is for the guys to see and stalk and get close enough to snag with a very large treble hook on a salt water fishing rig or get a crossbow bolt into a gator that has a line attached. After more tries than I'd like to admit, I got a bolt into a big boy (10'6" 285lbs). Then it became a hectic (all hell breaks loose) problem solving affair where the idea is to get as attached to the gator as possible - harpoons with big lines, a large hook and we were able to get the very resistant old boy right next to our boat so I could use the bang stick against his rather small brain. Wow - we were sweating, high fiving, and smiling big! One hell of a low country experience. I could not recommend the hunt more. Thank you Jim and Jamie! read more

A friend and I went Turkey hunting there on April 15. He got one and I passed on a jake. The family friendly atmosphere and lodge were outstanding, as was the owner Jim, whom is as knowledgeable about Turkey hunting and guns as anyone I have ever met. As we arrived to the lodge, another hunter and Jim came back from the swamp with a nice 8 foot Alligator; an exciting start! This is a friendly, safe and wonderful place to visit for those interested in hunting and the shooting sports. Jim's son was also a guide and a very well spoken and poised young man. Jim Boone and his family and staff run an incredible operation. The lodge is beautiful and the food and accommodations are top notch. Jim is incredibly knowledgeable about hunting and wildlife management, and he will work himself to the bone to put a smile on your face and get you an opportunity to harvest a trophy animal. I don't think the man sleeps during hunting season. I am a repeat client and plan on bringing family, friends, and business associates for many years to come. read more

If you ever want to hunt a big ass lizard, call the Boone's. They know where the lizards sleep. They feed you good, make sure you sleep comfortably, and are totally ready when the slaying commences!
