KDC Traders has a bit of a sharper edge. They had all sorts of glass collectibles, gothic themed knick knacks (dragons galore), as well as vintage themed collectibles (Elvis, Marilyn, Betty Boop, and the like). It's not the biggest gift shop in the Dells but it's packed full of chachkies. Which, really, is what the peruse down Broadway is all about. Get to it!

The shop has a huge selection of craftsman boots, western attire, and more. The owner was on site helping customers, and a couple of staff at the front and back registers made checkout seamless. I ended up finding boots that may not have been entirely handmade here in the USA, but they were the perfect fit and exactly one of the two styles I had in mind before entering the shop. After heading back home and changing into a dress paired with those boots, I immediately received compliments on my look at the festival I attended. Being able to see staff is a plus in this day and age, and the selection made it easy to find what I needed. The shop has a genuine vibe that makes browsing fun and inspiring. My gal pal had been in here prior while browsing the Dells and suggested this spot to me when I said I need new boots, and she was right. I pass the recommendation from her through me to you! I stated that I own a business and pay for my own purchases and asked how much the skull was, only to be told that it was VERY EXPENSIVE, and still not get a price. Finally, I asked and was told that it might be over $1,500.00. so what? I could afford it. I strongly regret not buying 3 and then returning them to shut her up, but I'm not wasting money to get store credit at a place that treats me like chattel.

My issue was that aside from a "hello" that was yelled at me by someone I could not see when I entered I was never again engaged by an employee. Even though there were two of them there (with definite talk of a third one who was working in a back room) I was never asked if I needed help. Even when I was looking in glass cases I was never approached. Even when I was looking at tools and clearly comparing them - still no one approached to ask if I had questions. And the twice I had to ask for help the woman behind the counter would pointedly set down what she was doing and sigh before coming over. Apparently I was interrupting her? I understand not hovering when people are trying to shop but this was beyond that! And just a small annoyance but I purchased over $100 worth of items and never once was told about their loyalty program, despite there being signs on the cashiers space about it. Like even the most basic customer service seemed a Herculean effort for this place. I will give them another chance at some point, but I was very disappointed with the service - even though the beads are wonderful.

This is an interesting little store. It's located in Downtown Dells - which means you'll need to…read morefind some sort of street parking in order to visit. At the same time, it makes it really easy to stop by Uptown Trading when you're already downtown for something else. Look for it across the street from Macs or down the street from Swiss Maid Fudge. Inside, you'll find a treasure trove of random little trinkets. Honestly, the whole shop is trinkets - but not in a bad way. They aren't your standard "Wisconsin Dells Fare" that you'll find in most stores around town. Instead, they're different types of items that seem more like collectibles instead of garbage or "funny gifts". They have small statues (ducks, birds, horses, wolves, planes, etc.), lots of personalized name products (spoons, knives, etc.), toys for kids, stuffed animals, collectibles, cast iron figures, clocks, dream catchers, cedar boxes, and so much more. They just have a lot of decor items you could use around your home. While most of it isn't too "functional", if you want a neat reminder from the Dells that doesn't look like every other store you visited, this is a good place to shop. The prices are super reasonable too. It's surprising. I walked out with 5 items for less than $17. That's basically all of the "Bring back an item from the Dells!" shopping I had to do in one place. If you're buying larger items, they go up into the $20's or $30s, but for most of the decorative items and trinkets, you're looking at least than $6 each. Great prices - especially for a town that's known for tourism. The staff was super helpful here too. Surprisingly so. I wasn't entirely sure about some things about a couple items, and she was happy to answer any of my questions. When I was purchasing one of their trinkets, she took it out of the box and pointed out a flaw on the item - then found another box until she found one that flawless for me. She was really sweet and didn't have to take that much time for me. She was really helpful and nice. It did take awhile to get checked out (because they seem to do hand-written receipts and have an old cash register), but they DO accept credit cards, and the process was really smooth. It was generally a good store to shop in. It doesn't have a lot of the cheesy "tourist" items that most stores do, and it has a clear "small business" feel to it that makes it different than most of the mass-produced stores in the Dells. I'd definitely come back.

She then charged her purchase on another credit card. We checked it when we got back to our condo only to discover that one was put back on her bank card but still had a charge their and on her credit card. She called the owner and she said that her batch came out right. We ended up going to the shop to clear this up. She was not willing to listen or even to look at the proof we had on the phone. She was rude, we took our business to Mill House and we spent 300.00 or more there. Which one of their employees said that they did not have much selection,they had more then Quintessential Quilts had. I only gave it 1 star for you had to choose. I would not shop there again. Someone was working with a customer figuring out measurements on a quilt at the cutting table. Fifteen minutes later I was ready to check out. I waited five minutes, ignored, then asked if someone could cut fabric for me somewhere. The owner( ?) said no there is only one cutting table. This is where they were still figuring out a pattern. I waited ten more minutes, ignored, and then left . This is awful customer service. I understand helping someone with a quilt, but there were so many ways this could have been better. I'm in a group that goes there once a year. I'm out.
