I was excited to sign on in the beginning, as TVTA advertised that they would handle my resume and reel and find me jobs. They did find me a job. Unfortunately, it was one and done, though the expectation in the TVTA contract was that they would continually secure employment for me in the three year period I was under contract with the agency. As my two year contract was ending for one job they found me, I informed TVTA that I wanted to move on, and that they should begin working to secure employment. Less than two months later, I was told that no contacts wanted to hire me, and that I should renewing my contract with my existing employer or risk not having a job at all. TVTA did not take into consideration my career goals or expectations. Additionally, I wasn't provided any proof of jobs that TVTA submitted me for. My mom first discovered that the reel TVTA put together for me had the wrong name on it, and then I found out that it was being sent to hiring managers without my knowledge. In addition, the resume they redid for me had errors in it as well, and that was also marketed without my knowledge. I was so fed up that ended up putting together my own reel and resume and finding a job on my own. But since I was locked into a three year contract with TVTA, I was still obligated to pay the agency. It was pretty obvious they didn't put much of any effort into finding me a job because they knew they were going to be paid regardless. That was pretty upsetting in itself, but topping that was the rudeness and absolute unprofessionalism from TVTA when I voiced my concern about the services. I was told my behavior was "distasteful" and "ungrateful" when I vocalized how dissatisfied I was. I was also told TVTA's "record speaks for itself" though it was not helping me at the time, and I was a paying client. My concerns were largely ignored. There was little communication, coaching or checking in. From what I've experienced, TVTA is really just concerned about collecting your commission and doesn't care to help you succeed or reach your career goals once you're locked into a TVTA contract. If you desire to be in TV news and want to advance in the field, I would suggest trying it on your own - making your own reel, resume and connections. You will be better off. After I ended my contract with TVTA, I marketed myself and was able to jump nearly 80 markets. Something TVTA was not able to do for me. If you feel inclined to sign with an agency, I would not recommend TVTA. I would encourage looking elsewhere to save yourself the finances and headache.
