Way cheaper, faster and more convenient than taking the boat into a shop. Definitely go this route. Aaron knows his stuff.

Tyler's Mobile Boat & Rv Service

I rarely leave reviews, but this one needs to be said -- this was one of the most unprofessional,…read moremisleading, and frustrating experiences I've ever had with any service provider. I booked a boat repair appointment and clearly explained the issue over the phone. I was told confidently, "Yes, we handle this type of repair all the time." They explained the pricing as follows: $75 deposit to confirm the visit, and a $175 flat fee for the first diagnostic hour -- which would only be charged if no repair was done. If a repair proceeded, that $175 would be fully applied to the repair cost. I paid the deposit and scheduled the visit in good faith. At the appointment, the mechanic -- Tyler, who also identified himself as the co-owner and said his father Jeff was his partner -- showed up clearly inexperienced. Per his own words, he had been fired on the spot from his previous mechanic job. He had no idea how to diagnose the issue. Instead, he fumbled around, calling friends and his dad, and flipping through the manual. This, after I was assured over the phone that they were qualified for this exact issue. When I asked what was going on, Tyler admitted: "I can't figure it out. I'll refund you the $75 because I can't fix it." But he didn't just fail -- he left my boat in worse condition than when he arrived, with tampered and potentially damaged electrical systems. I'm now considering legal action for financial loss and emotional stress. Then came the final insult: they sent me a $750 invoice -- despite Tyler's clear promise not to charge me and to refund the deposit. I followed up and spoke with him again. He told me he'd "have accounting reach out to fix it," but no one ever followed up. After more ignored calls, I finally reached someone by phone -- whom I believe was Jeff, based on what Tyler told me (that Jeff is his father and co-owner). That person told me they would take me to court if I didn't pay. This company misrepresented their capabilities, broke their word, possibly damaged my boat, and tried to bill me for hundreds of dollars after delivering no legitimate service. Stay far away from this business. What I experienced wasn't just incompetence -- it was deceptive, disorganized, and potentially predatory.

First Review (5 stars): In the past, I have taken my prop here to be reconditioned. They were fast…read moreand reasonably priced. I have also gone to them looking for a hard to find parts, the counter staff are friendly and helpful. They happened to have what I needed. Next week, I will be taking my boat in for major repairs. I will let you know how that goes. Update (0 stars if possible): That was September of 2022. I did take my boat in for an engine replacement in October of 2022. We received our boat back in January of 2023. De-winterized and out for the 20 hour break in period in May of 2023. Two hours into the break-in, we encountered the same noises that sent it in for a new engine, back to the shop on warranty work. On June 12, we got it back and took it out to start the break-in period again. After spending 15 hours on the lake, we finally got our first 10 hours and time for the oil change. We mentioned that it smelled of burning oil and it was hesitating or stalling when putting it in gear from neutral. We were told it was normal and could be expected for the first 100 hours. I have worked on cars for most of my life, and this was news to me. In September of 2022, we finally got the 20 hours completed on the break-in and took it to a different marine specialist (due to a lack of trust with A Rock). They did the 20-hour oil change, winterized, and did a bore scope on the engine. This revealed scoring marks from the piston rings, a rusty head, and signs of oil blow-by, indicating the rings were not doing their job correctly. Again, in May, I returned it to A Rock with the photos from the other company. They took another month to change the heads and told me it was 'good to go.' Skeptically, I left their shop and went straight to the lake. Thirty minutes in, it was doing the same thing. I drove it straight back down and told them it wasn't fixed. One month to the day, I got the call that another "new" engine had been installed. An engine, come to find out, they had had in their shop since January but was told they had to order it in and that was the reason for the time delay. I took the boat straight out to the lake again, and it was still plagued with hesitation and stalling. The burning oil was gone, though. I found two spark plugs with cracked porcelain, so I replaced them, and that took care of the stalling. I have another 24 months on the warranty, so we will see how this holds up. I have hit my 20 hours of break-in and again took it elsewhere to get the oil changed. The ladies at the counter are friendly and seem to care about the issues, but I will never have them touch this engine outside of the warranty ever again. In summary, If you need something off the shelf, it's a great place to go. If you need a prop refurbished, I have had good luck. If you need them to work on your engine... Find someone else!!!

From the beginning of my interactions with this company they have dropped the ball at every step…read more They sell used motors saying they have been gone through and work perfectly. Well I got out on the water first time and not only would the engine die on me but the locking mechanism for keeping the motor lowered or lifted was not working either. Took it in for repairs and they didn't fix the mechanism, but told me the motor they sold me had a bad fuel pump. How did they not know that before selling it? Then they did eventually "fix" the mechanism but it still doesn't work. Now they tell me that part isn't covered under my 45 day warranty. So I have to take it somewhere else to get fixed. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this company to anyone.
