Hunter, the guy working that day, couldn't have been nicer and guided me through each work out station with patience (I've been out of shape the past couple of years). It's a little pricey per month but the drop in fee apparently is only $15 so I plan to come back at least once or twice a month for a great work out. Highly recommend! Lucky for me, the other studio didn't call me back until after I booked 3 privates at Fusion. After my first session, I signed up for 2 more, for a total of 5 privates while I was in town. I've had a lot of private training and private pilates classes, and Amy is one of the best. Amy is compassionate, knowledgeable and a true teacher. She was mindful of my issues and gave me so many take-aways for me to use on my own. She also used some amazing heated props that helped loosen muscles and bring awareness to specific areas. My husband teased me that I would move to Asheville to continue working with Amy. Everyone should have this kind of training.

Stephanie, the main instructor, is fantastic. She pushes you to work hard and makes sure you have good form to prevent injury. They also donate money to a local nonprofit... how's cool is that??? There's also a tango group upstairs. $5 for the dance only portion gets you into both dances. They no longer meet at Studio 4. The blues jam continues at Westville Pub on Tuesdays. A good crowd, smaller the last time I was in town due to a number of dancers returning from a weekend workshop. A friendly and dedicated group of swing dancers keep swing dancing alive in Asheville. They have a fun practice dance on Mondays from 8:30pm to 10pm at Studio 4. A small space that works well for the crowd. The instructors were fun as was the dancing after the initial class. I'll go back anytime I'm in Asheville. Check their website for swing dances happening around the area. The Monday nights are regular. They seem to have 2nd and 4th Wednesday and Fridays events at other locations. And a blues jam at the Westville Pub on Tuesdays.

I am currently enrolled in a masters degree program where they recommend you do not work to focus on school, so us students are on a budget for sure. One of my fellow classmates introduced me to this gym, and we wanted to sign up but since she is 26, they would not let her get the student discount. This is ensuring that I also will not sign up, even though I am under 25, as I think that is totally not fair! Before we found out that she cannot get the student discount, we came in on a guest pass to check out the gym. I wasn't a huge fan. For the price they charge I expected better. The basic membership is $50 a month. I do like that they have group fitness classes as well as a pool. I'd say this is worth it if you really enjoy the racquetball and tennis facilities they have, otherwise just go to any other gym that would be cheaper.

Update on previous review- Maintenance continues to…read moredecline- 1. In the weight room, many of the life fitness machines counters do not work. It is just a battery change but it does not happen. Secondly about half of the same machines have busted faces that cover certain parts of the machine. Yes...it does not change the working of the machine but it does show that the club does not care about appearance of the equipment. 2. On the tennis side- a big deal was made in the spring about how the outdoor hard courts were to be refinished to remove the cracks in them. Mind you the cracks have been there for over 7 years so this is not a new problem....as of yet there has been no fix. For the indoor court- the staff is lazy about cleaning the courts. The tennis ball fuzz is epic and only gets removed every 2 or so weeks. Removal is merely getting on a machine made for cleaning the courts but apparently that is too much to ask of the staff. In a similar vein, the automated ball machine is missing the remote that starts and stops the machine. It has been months now that this has been unavailable. I called the company that makes the ball machine and they said they could ship one in a week. But the club apparently has not made any attempts to fix the problem. Outdoor clay court maintanence has not improved. This is supposed to be a USTA (US Tennis Assoc.) premier club.....I would hate to see a non premier club.
