a glass of water with a christmas tree in it

We had a great time at the holiday themed Rec Deck the Halls. The drinks were fun and I especially loved the drink with the green light. There are a few drinks where you can take home the glass or mug as well. These are a very cute addition to my holiday drink ware and I hope to collect more in the future. I enjoyed the pizza and would get that again. We also got the pretzel which was good but I was not a fan of the marinara sauce that was with it. I would have preferred cheese. It was a busy night but we did not have a long wait for any of our drinks or food which was great. I loved the space and definitely plan on returning.

The 4th floor of the boulevard hosts their holiday pop up bar Rec dec. We have done the tour and been to the tap room but haven't been up here. A large portion of the seating area is reserved for large group parties. They offer the same beers as they do downstairs and a host of holiday cocktails. They all involve their sparkling water drinks which I haven't overly loved in the past. I'm a bourbon/whiskey drinker so I got the "not your grandmas Christmas candle" which is bourbon based and it's ok. There are lanes of shuffle board and some decoration but overall a bit gimmicky.

Boulevard Brewing is synonymous with Kansas City these days and they have done an incredible job with their new-ish tasting room and welcome center. The Rec Deck is their newest addition on the top level, that features shuffleboard, and a tasting bar. I visited for the first time over the holidays when they'd transformed into "Rec Deck the Halls" which to be honest was one of the best value holiday pop ups I went to all season long. The cover to get in was only $5 which felt like a reasonable price to enter what is usually free to walk into. Something that surprised me, was that all of the holiday drinks came with a custom glass to take home with you while supplies lasted. My mind was literally blown. I mean, yes you are paying a premium for the cocktails, but not much more than you would at any pop up and you got to keep the glass? Consider me sold. Aside from that you combine the amazing service that tends to always come with a visit to Boulevard, and a really charming space, and I'll be a repeat customer any day.

This holiday event is only available Fridays & Saturdays. Reservations needed if you have a group. My friend and I arrived around 6:50 and found seats easily. We had to get Not Your Grandma's Christmas Candle for its festive ingredients and the souvenir glass. It was our favorite drink compared to The Grinch & the Tropi- Hanukkah. The frozen margarita machine was not working so that was a bummer. It got busy and extremely loud some time after 7. Love the decor and vibe, plenty of places to take festive selfies. The cheese pizza was average the Jingle (cheese) ball was really good but the cherry tomatoes stole the show! I want to come here again but bring a crew to eat, drink & be merry playing shuffleboard!

We had the opportunity to visit the new Rec Deck addition for a Yelp Elite event and had a blast!!! First off the entertainment opportunities are endless; from the table shuffleboards, to the standing shuffleboards, to playing Foosball -- there is a ton of entertainment in one place! While visiting, we also had the opportunity to try the Creamy Cheesy Artichoke flatbread and the Charcuterie board -- both were excellent, but the flatbread was to DIE for! As for the beverages, I was recommended to try Bob's 47 Oktoberfest and the American Kolsch (since I am a fan of light beers) and both were delectable -- neither beer was super "hoppy" but both were packed with flavor. If you're not a big beer fan then they have other options as well, including their frozen Mai Tai which seemed to be a pretty big hit! I would highly recommend visiting the new Rec Deck -- I personally cannot wait to visit again and bring a few more friends along!

We LOVE the Rec Deck addition to Boulevard. The space is beautiful and can accommodate large groups. There are standing shuffle board tables and other games to play as well as the large standing shuffle board courts. I highly suggest reserving a court ahead of time if you plan on playing standing shuffle board. We joined the Monday night shuffle board league and it has been a blast. Get a group of friends and join the league! There's a food menu with flat breads, appetizers, and more! There's also all the boulevard beers and even some speciality cocktails (last Monday there was a Mai Tai Fling frozen cocktail). Definitely worth checking out and a great spot to bring out of town visitors.

They also have a décor closet with leftover centerpieces, sequin runners, etc. that you can use, which saved us a lot of money! The food is AMAZING. We went with a 3 protein buffet (rotisserie chicken, roast beef carving station, salmon) with salad, rolls, and 2 sides. It was AMAZING-- easily the best wedding food I've ever had. Another bonus with TTOG is that they offer two day-of coordinators, which I couldn't have appreciated more. A few weeks before the wedding, we met with Emad to set a timeline for the night so that everything moved along smoothly as the night progressed. I dropped all my decor off (and a list of the ones I wanted to use from their supply) the week of the wedding, and they do all of the set up and tear down for us! Everything looked perfect the night of. We don't have a single complaint about the venue, Emad or Maggie, or the bar/serving staff. If anything went wrong, Emad or Maggie took care of it and we didn't notice a thing! For the price, they offered a lot more than any other venues downtown that we looked at, and came in at our projected budget. I cannot say enough nice things about TTOG and would 100% recommend them to another couple.

We looked at over a dozen venues in the Kansas City area and just knew from the moment we walked in that this was THE space. It is truly a Kansas City gem with wood flooring, high beams with Edison bulbs, brick walls, and beautiful staircases. A huge standout for us was they only have one event per weekend, so we had the space from Friday (when we moved all of our necessities in) to 4:00 on Sunday ( when we moved back out). The wedding party truly enjoyed preparing with hair, make-up, and wardrobe on the gorgeous third floor, the cocktail hour was on the first level, and dinner and dance were on the second level. Everything was perfect. When you book the Oliver, you get the peace of mind of the owner Steve and the event coordinator Caitlin. We met with Caitlin on multiple occasions and she was amazing. They have a great bartending staff, parking attendants, and security guards, and a great working rapport with many local vendors. If I had to touch on any drawbacks, it would just be the gravel parking lots, which can be a bit of a challenge with ladies in heels or elderly persons. We were a little concerned with it being haunted house season but this was not an issue at all. Overall, we could not be more thrilled with our experience and I would give it more stars if I could! An absolute ten out of ten!

First of all, when the client contacted me and asked me to help with her daughter's wedding, I…read morereadily agreed. The Loose Mansion managers, Abbey and Loren, seemed to have an attitude issue. I wanted the wedding event to be just as memorable for the client as they... but they seemed to want to make things unnecessarily difficult. When I arrived at the scheduled time, neither Abbey nor Loren were there. No one else knew anything about any of the A/V equipment that Loose Mansion provides. Awhile later, Loren arrived. I introduced myself and was as pleasant as I could possibly be. Again, I received a "not so warm" reception. There was just a prevailing attitude of arrogance, entitlement and an unfriendliness. Because Loose Mansion was providing the video projector for the event, I asked Loren if we could plug my computer into the projector prior to the arrival of guests to make sure everything operated correctly. She told me that she probably wouldn't have time to allow me to test the hook-up because she was "so busy". I thought to myself "had you arrived at the time we had agreed upon, perhaps you would have had time to check important components like making sure the A/V would work." I was told that I would need to bring my own sound system and mics because they don't allow any "outsiders" to touch their equipment. So I came prepared with speakers, speaker stands, mixer, mics, and audio playback. As I was setting up the computer, I couldn't get the "Loose Mansion" WiFi network to work. I said something to Loren and she told me that I would have to connect to the "office network". The WiFi network was so ridiculously slow that no webpage would even load up. I thought that something must be wrong... so I connected to the network with my phone to check the speed there. Again, practically non-existent speed... so bad that nothing would work (see the screen caps from both my computer and my phone). I was afraid to say anything to Loren or ask her to reset her router for fear that I'd get another harsh response. So I just set up my own hotspot and used that. I finally did mention it to Loren and she said "Yes, it's very slow... we just tell people to download everything they need in advance." It seems ridiculous that a professional "event space" facility would have WiFi that is virtually of no use whatsoever. As the set-up for this very nice wedding event proceeded, I noticed that Loren was wearing a black skirt for the event, but with old green sneakers. I thought that she was just wearing these old green sneakers because they were comfortable during the set-up process, but surely she'd change into something more presentable for the wedding once guests started to arrive. Wrong! Later during the event, I overheard one guest mention her appearance to another guest... they were also surprised that management would allow an onsite manager to dress like this for a client's wedding event. They forgot to turn on the speakers for the ceremony, so if you were sitting in the room used for the ceremony, it sounded like all of the sound/music was coming from the room behind you (there were speakers in other rooms of the house). After the ceremony, as guests went for cocktails, we started to set up our gear for the after-dinner event. The "unused" Loose Mansion speakers were still sitting on the small stage... and when I asked Loren if we could move them aside so we could have room for our speakers, she said "No, we'll leave them right where they are!" Unbelievable! Another thing noticed was the fact that in order to lower the projection screen from the ceiling mount, Loren had to get a tall staffer who stood on top of a bucket or something and then used a plastic coat hanger to try to reach the bottom of the screen and pull it down. Tacky! My review is directed to other vendors/event planners. I've never had to deal with event space management who was NOT a team-player with the goal of wanting to create a stellar event by working TOGETHER with vendors. Instead, there was noticeable resistance. It's really too bad!

My wife and I were impressed and pleased with the professionalism of the staff and the preparation of the event space. The event manager, Loren, appeared to be everywhere and invisible at the same time, and the staff worked seamlessly with the outside vendors. Every guest that spoke to me about the venue mentioned how beautiful it is and how well everything ran. My wife and I also stayed in the Carriage House and that simplified and enhanced our experience. We love to take a morning walk, and the neighborhood was fun to explore too. One last item that I don't want to overlook is their process of event preparation. It seemed that every need, every eventuality, was anticipated and prepared for. On the front end, it seemed a little daunting, answering all those questions and choosing among so many options, but the payoff came at the reception. Everything ran smoothly and we were able to relax and enjoy our guests. The Loose Mansion team could not have been more thorough.
