I had been to Rebel Rebel once before in early 2010 and came away satisfied with the cut I received. It was expensive (£18), but at least the quality was high and the staff seemed pleasant enough. After my second visit, I can't say the same. In fact, I won't be coming back. Without placing a reservation, I walked into Rebel Rebel while it was empty, which seemed fine to me. The senior barber was snippy with me about my lack of reservation, but begrudgingly took me on. Alarm bells. I'm not the kind of person that brings in a firm "style", like a photograph, and this seemed to irritate the barber, leading to more snippy talk about my few guidelines being "not enough to know what you want". Fair enough, but I don't feel like I've ever had this problem before, even in highly regarded barbers I've been to in the past, like the House of Lords in Toronto, Canada. Later on, another customer arrived and supplied much of the same general guidelines as me with no trouble, which I can only assume means there was a problem with me personally. After being seated, I realised I was in for quite a ride. The barber cut my hair as quickly as possible and in a very aggressive manner (complete with angry sounding deep breathing). It actually hurt me as she cut into my hair and she didn't really seem all that interested in what she was doing. In fact, listening to the radio seemed more of a concern. After more pain on the end of a hot hair straightener to my neck, the haircut was finally over and I was free to pay and leave. I was left to ponder if I'd done anything wrong. Maybe my lack of reservation was an issue. If it was, I'd have come back later on or on another day. Maybe I was snotty in some way? I don't think so. I do have a mild speech impediment and maybe this put the barber off on talking to me properly. Who knows. As I've said, I didn't have a firm style in mind and won't comment that the haircut wasn't what I wanted. I know that barbers aren't telepathic. That's fine. I took a gamble. However, my treatment by Rebel Rebel did not fit the "cool" image the place puts out. I shouldn't be sunk into the chair, hoping the haircut ends as soon as possible. I also shouldn't be treated as an outlet for someone else's frustrations. I'm a customer, not a punching bag. Maybe the barber was having a bad day. Perhaps I insulted her somehow. If so, I sincerely apologise. Just please, don't come at me with those scissors ever again. read more

Still works for me. Ok, so there's one or two things that stop me upping it to a 5 star, but these are pretty picky things, such as the volume of the music/radio, but tbh this says more about me than it does about the biz. So here I go again. Almost a year has passed since i first came in here and despite the economy flinging itself doon the toilet, the refreshing thing to note about RR is that they're prices seem to be exactly the same. Given there city centre locale, this is excellent to see. Cut again was great. Quick, nae messing about, but attention paid to what I wanted, how the cut was progressing and everything else that goes along with it. Yelp discount still applies, so the regular cut comes in at just over 14 notes. Pretty good in my books. I like it. It's one of the few places I trust when getting a mop chop. I'll return! read more

Since moving to Glasgow I'd struggled to find a good place to get my hair cut. After some bad experiences with various barbers around town, I decided to try Rebel Rebel. This place has a good rep but my last visit was a bit of a disaster. Things didn't get off to a good start, I'd made an appointment using the online booking system yet I still had to wait 20 minutes. I thought the whole point of booking an appointment was so I didn't have to wait? Appointments are meant to last 45 minutes but I was done in under 30, I presume to make up for the time wasted earlier, I wasn't impressed. The haircut itself was disappointing, he'd cut it too short and given me a skinfade despite me making clear to him at the start that I didn't want a skinfade. Rule no.1 of cutting hair, listen to what the customer wants! A haircut in here will set you back £25, yes TWENTY-FIVE POUNDS! Steep! For that money you'd expect the best haircut of your life but this was up there with the worst. The guy working at the front desk is a clown too, when my card didn't work at the first time of asking he was really rude about it. It's not something which fazes me but I know some people get embarrassed when that happens, for him to deal with it in the way he did was shocking. So I've made two trips to the salon, firstly in July 2013 and then again in December 2013. I have an appointment to return in a few days however find myself debating whether or not to commit! Don't get me wrong, both of my experiences have been great but I wouldn't call it exceptional. However the customer service certainly is amazing! I have had the lovely stylist, Gemma, both times who is now on maternity leave (Congratulations!). She is great, shows a genuine interest in you and your life and you really get to know her as more of a friend as well as a stylist. What puts me off is the price! when I first visited RR I had mousey brown hair with a bleached blonde ombre and it reached just under my shoulder blades. As RR has a rather edgy image, I was longing for a lovely natural ginger colour to my hair as I envy the colour and thought this was the best place! And I loved it! I have to say though it was more reddish than what I would have hoped for, but not bad for the first go! On top of the colour I just had a few layers cut in, a wee trim on my ends and side fringe and that was all. I was shocked when I was told that it was £110! I couldn't help but feel that for such a simple cut and colour it was a bit excessive but paid the amount on two occasions, telling myself it was because the length of my hair.. I'm not convinced anymore though and as lovely as Gemma is I can't justify £110 pounds any longer and I am considering trying the Rainbow Room in Glasgow :( read more

Very expensive for what they do. I only went twice. The first time the haircut was ok, but the second one it was simply hideous. Never went back after that. There're places all over Glasgow where you can get a better haircut for a more reasonable price. read more

Moved from barber to barber over the years due to hairdressers moving on, and was never really comfortable with someone new and not used to my hair. That was until I was recommended Rebel Rebel. What a find!!!. Bright, modern, with a real urban vibe about the place and loads of differently skilled barbers to choose from, allowing you to find the specific style or look you are going for.. Nothing is too complex or too out-there for them. The staff are 1st class, and make you feel welcomed and special as soon as you step through the door. Top Tip: The Master Barber Cut N Style with Alan, is well worth it, and very reasonable compared with other salons. Ace!!!!! read more

I've had a couple of decent haircuts from here but my last one with Stephen was not one of them. Despite me being clear about what I wanted and showing a picture I ended up leaving with what i can only describe as a bog-standard, barber shop haitcut The finished article wasn't great to begin with and since it has started growing back in it is a shapeless mess that is impossible to style. I've basically paid £20.50 for a short back and sides that any barber in Scotland could have done for 6 quid. I'm not sure I'll be back and may just stick with a proper salon rather than taking the risk with letting barbers armed with their horrendous thinning scissors loose on my hair. read more

Literally the worst haircut I have ever had. The girl asked me what sort of thing I would like and I picked out something a bit rough looking and asked her to keep my hair to "Mid neck" length. What I got was a cut that took the hair up to my ears, sleeked and she even tried to force an emo fringe into the mix, completely ignoring my request and then my questions during the cut. Avoid Rebel Rebel at all costs, or if you must go in, ask for the exact opposite of what you want, its the only way you're going to get what you really want. Overly expensive as well. read more

Unfortunately, I won't return to Rebel Rebel. First of all, I arrived on time for my appointment yet I waited almost 30 minutes before I was seen. There was no acknowledgement from the front desk that the person I'd be seeing was running a bit behind schedule. Given that it was the end of the day, I wouldn't really have been that fussed as I know schedules can easily run behind. Anyway, I waited some 20 minutes before asking how long it would be and the person manning the front desk practically scowled at me saying it'll only be another few minutes. Had they said in the first place that I would be taken a bit late, then I wouldn't have minded so much but the front desk's manner left a lot to be desired. Secondly, the person doing the trim was more interested in talking to her pal than paying attention to her customer. This was reflected in the quality of the trim I received. Had I received a decent trim, I would have given Rebel Rebel a second chance but no chance I will return. Shame, because the location is very convenient for me and their opening hours suit me too. On the whole, a pretty poor experience. read more

I thought I'd give this place a second chance. I was allocated some geezer with minimal communication skills who proceeded to cut my hair with pretty much zero chat. Got the definite impression he was less than happy and would rather be anywhere else. Much like my previous visit I was treated like a number, fleeced of my cash (without any interest in feedback) and spat out the door as quickly as possible. In my experience customer service comes very low on the list of priorities of Rebel rebel, for that reason I won't be returning. read more

First time here (And Very Last) The style and colour I got was nothing like the photo i'd taken in. I'd mentioned to the stylist (Emma) as it was getting far too short but she continued to cut, I eventually had to tell her to stop cutting and as for the colouring it went waaaaay wrong, burnt my hair and its ruined the excitement I had for going on holiday at the end of the week, absolutely gutted. It was supposed to be around £100 for a very mediocre styling. Customer service was top notch but at the end of the day we are in there for our hair and if that doesn't come out right then whats the point. They offered a reduction in cost because they knew it was just so so wrong. Oh well as they say its a lesson learned so one star for customer service and zero for hair :-( read more

Rebel Rebel (CBUK). They changed there name as the general public thought it was in conjunction with CBUK barbers in West Nile Street, therefore in Jan 10 it became Rebel Rebel. The barbers itself is moden with cuts to suit modern hair styles. Going in and asking for a number 2 short back in sides is vague, They have no know every detail of what you want your hair to be like. £13 for me is a general cut anything fancy or a style like David beckham could cost you £15-25. They have Wi-Fi access aswell as open plan layout to hang up your jacket, very easy to get to as its built onto central Station and the people are very freindly. However becasue it is in the city for what your paying you could go upto west nile street and get it for half price, however when you walk in you are greeted and treated like a star from hello and goodbye, not the general walk in take your seat...whos next sceanario which is what every man is used too. This for me is why its worth £13 for a general cut. The people actually talk to you too. Therefore in my opinion I give this 8/10 read more
