"The incubator " which you can rent for $160/mo for progressive non-profits comes with a conference room, Internet, kitchenette, parking space in the lot, use of phones, Facsimile, restroom etc. all in a very convenient space to set up shop for progressive non-profit organizations in the Madison community. The Jackie Macaulay Gallery is a social justice art gallery with 17 previous displays including "Willy Street in the 70's"; (my personal fav) covers the entire first floor of the Nan Cheney Community Room and is open for viewing from 9-6, Monday through Friday. There's a beautiful mural outside on the wall so the building is easy to spot coming from the west. A convenient space to set up small community meetings of less than 20 people, the Nan Cheney Community Room is offered for use for a small fee and two months advanced notice. It's convenient location on Willy Street where there are many unique stores, co op, and fun, friendly people, a beautiful little neighborhood that represents Madisonian's perfectly. Next time you're in the neighborhood, stop in and see the awesome art exhibits.

This is actually a review of the St. Vincent de Paul FOOD PANTRY at this location rather than of…read morethe executive offices. Of all the food pantries in south Madison, this is the biggest and best. They always have a generous selection of viands to choose from, including fresh produce. They are truly a godsend for the poor. The only quibble that I have with them (and it is a VERY minor one) is that some of the volunteers who assist clients in selecting items are obviously referrals from the court system doing community service as a condition of their sentencing. While they behave appropriately, they don't manifest the solicitude of true volunteers who are motivated by faith and empathy. Rather than engaging with the clients, they simply process them. It is disconcerting to be treated as a product. I suppose that the society employs them for ethical reasons. However, if they are not absolutely needed, I suggest that it disengages as a vehicle for offenders' reparations and relies exclusively on volunteers. The experience is so much more pleasant.

Truth be told this was my first time visiting any type of farm...I'm from Queens NYC so this was something I only saw on TV growing up. And let me say it was one of the best experiences of my life. It gave me a chance to see first hand how farm life really is and how dedicated you have to be for this lifestyle. So...we rolled up and was instantly greeted by Tina. She showed us the map of the USA and had us mark it with our family name and where we are from; very cool. Then once all the other families showed up she gave us a short brief of the farm's history. After that we loaded up for the hay ride to the pumpkin patch so the kids could grab a small sugar pumpkin. All the while Tina is explaining farming, GMO, and how marketing is done for the dairy business...BTW don't believe everything you read on those milk labels: I left there smarter. FYI So on to the Cows...Tina took us via the hay ride to the cow house (that's not the correct term: I'm from NYC remember). We saw all the cows waiting to get prego which are the Heifers (that term is correct) and all the mom's that get milked. We even got to milk one ourselves...I'm pretty sure that makes me a Farmer now...LOL Then we saw the baby cows; super cute and friendly. My daughter also got to feed a baby goat which is called a Kid (also a term I have correct). She also picked chicken eggs, saw some sheep, and pigs. Once again during the tour Tina does a great job keeping the children's attention while explaining a lot to us adults. Overall it was a great experience for our daughter and me as a city-slicker it was freaking amazing! It really makes you appreciate the hard work that goes into the things most of us take for granted.

Tina toured us around the farm and she is so knowable, kind and great with kids. The cows are well taken care of, the facilities are clean and every location around the farm is a great educational opportunity with visuals and hands on opportunities. This tour totally exceeded expectations, brought us into the life of being a dairy farmer, and I am so happy to have these memories with my children.
