I worked with Vivien Wong to find a place to lease after coming back to Canada with my family. She was very knowledgeable, helpful and helped me find a place that exceeded what I was hoping for. Vivien spent time helping to figure out what exactly was it that I wanted and went to show me lots of good places that fit. She handled lease application very well and saved me a lot of time and headache. She also explained legal issue pertaining to rental laws in Toronto in clear an easy to understand manner. Realosophy website is incredibly useful. For me the killer feature was the School zone search. You can set alerts for a particular school zone and then see all properties that fall into catchment area. Super useful! They also provide excellent up to date information on price trends in the area. Good map that show nearby amenities etc. Give them a shot I think you will not regret it! read more

As part of my quest to buy a home, I interviewed several real estate companies. I ended up going ahead with Realosophy based on their website content and my sense that they would provide fair and thorough services. While there were some slip-ups in terms of customer service, I believe my experience may have been an isolated case. While making offers, they provide some input and occasionally were less responsive than other agents I've used in the past. However, they did follow up with seller's agents, which ultimately got me the home I wanted. Once the offer was accepted, service was good during inspections. They recommended a reputable independent home-inspector who also helped me get proper home insurance. Closing was bumpy. I was under the impression that specific details had been arranged, but found out on moving day that the situation was not as expected. As a result, the move didn't go as planned. This was was not entirely Realosophy's fault. After moving in there were some issues with the home (left-over seller's furniture and moving damage). Due to a lack of follow-up by Realosophy, I ended up solving them myself. Actually It took a while for Realosophy to follow up, but eventually they did and acknowledged the customer service issues. Purchasing a home in Toronto is a challenging task in the present sellers' market. After interviewing three realtors, John Pasalis stood out as professional, honest, and experienced. The Realosophy website was an invaluable asset as it is intuitive to use, automatically compared comparable sales, presented information on nearby schools, advised us about potential issues with the properties (such as permits that were opened but not closed), and even calculated the commute times between home listings and our work. The website allowed us to be educated consumers and have a more accurate understanding of likely sale prices. This was 'a must' for homes with bidding wars, and for homes that were listed above their market value. My wife and I had a very good experience with Realosophy. We chose them over other realtors because as an economist and a software engineer, we were looking for an analytical, data-driven approach. Our agent was Vincci Kumabe, and we found her approach to be an excellent fit for us and our approach. She was very responsive at all times, and for every viewing that she scheduled for us we found her there waiting for us when we arrived. We were first time home buyers, and she did a great job at walking us through the many processes involved in actually getting the right house for our needs in a very in-demand neighborhood (prime Riverdale). Vincci's approach was to provide clear and specific information and allow us to make our own decisions. She never dictated what we should be doing, but did provide some very helpful and valuable advice. On several occasions she was able to point out information that was missing or incorrect on the seller's home inspections. This was a valuable lesson - apparently a P.Eng and an inspector's certificate doesn't mean that a person knows the difference between a genuine wood-burning fireplace and a coal fireplace with wood stacked up beside it. For me, that eye-opening experience underscored the value of a knowledgeable guide through the process. In addition to the direct help she provided with the search, viewings, offers, and closing, she referred us to our mortgage broker, with whom we were also very pleased. Realosophy invites agents & soon to be agents for info sessions every couple of weeks to share their modus operandi, with a welcoming attitude and a declaration, that they are looking for new agents to work with! In fact - the sign up form is always present on the Careers section of their nicely designed website. That's great! Except... At the end of the session, they inform everyone that came, that in fact - in the foreseeable future (next year or so), they only really need one or two qualified candidates to join their team, and that they will get back to you if they find you qualified based on your resume (at least that's what I've been told). It makes me wonder - why not ask for resumes first, and only invite those for the information sessions who have passed the first checkpoint? Either way, I'm not quite sure whether behind it all this is way for the company to spread the word or just a lack of transparency in what should be called a group interview, but either way - it seems that a direct approach and honesty may not be one of Realosophy's main philosophies. If the owner would like to respond, I am awaiting the answer - with an open mind, and curiosity. read more
