i called this salon around 12 pm, booking a same day appointment for 1:30 pm, and upon my arrival,…read moreonly waited around 5 minutes before getting seated in one of their chairs. prior to my haircut, my hair was waist length, and afterwards, is now chest length. i asked Dina, who cut my hair, to cut off roughly 3 inches, requesting her to focus on removing dead hair/split ends. i specifically informed her that i enjoy keeping my hair long. in spite of this, a whopping minimum 6 inches was cut off. if you're someone like me who enjoys keeping their hair long, i would highly recommend getting your hair cut somewhere else. the pricing for a women's haircut is $35 before tip, which is more affordable than other salons, but this price point may come with certain sacrifices, such as not having your specific hairstyle requests fulfilled.

I asked if I can do curtain bang and showed a photo and I liked how he took the time to just review my hair and then spoke to the Google translate that my bangs may be a bit to short for it and showed me his portfolio on what else we can try. Through some yeses and head nodding we decided on a look! We went to the back for a wash and wow. I don't think I ever sat in a massage chair while getting my hair cut! That was nice! After this we went back to the chair to get started. We kept the length and did something like a wolf cut! Now I don't normally stray to far from my millennial side bangs but hey change is good right?! And in this case change was GREAT! Omg I was so happy how my lifeless hair had so much volume and how the front part of my hair framed my face perfectly! Throughout the cut he would stop and just analyze my hair and kept measuring to make sure we didn't go to short and at one point he told me to not be afraid but it's going to look like he's cutting a lot of my hair up top but it won't be much. Thankfully he gave me the warning because I was like omg will I go bald?? LOL When we were done he styled my hair and wow. I feel so light and I look so different! I had a fringe and my bangs were now split down the middle but it flowed so nicely! Leo mentioned I can come back and get a perm so I don't need to style it, I might take him up on his offer! My cut was about $48 not including tip and my fiancé's cut. But I am happy and would want to come back! I haven't had a proper cut in years and have PTSD from previous salons so I always opted for a trim I do myself at home but this visit made me feel amazing!

She was already in Taiwan for additional hair training and would respond to me, going back and forth between me and Ken. And mind you, this is before Lunar New Year, when most people would get their haircut! My day started right at opening time (10am) with a haircut. I gave him an idea of what I wanted and he just went with it. I will say this honestly: I've never liked my haircut this much. Why did it take me 40 years??? Anyway, we then had my hair washed and started with the first round of bleach around 11am, and then touch up. By 1pm, I decided to eat my lunch. I came prepared this time! Quick story: 9 years ago, I had no idea this type of hair procedure would take all day, and therefore did not bring lunch. Ken and Kristie fed me lunch! They are the best people, I swear. Anyway, after a rinse, we did another round of bleach with touch ups. I made it more difficult for Ken because I had dyed my hair a darker shade to cover my greys. I'm so sorry Ken! By 4pm it was no COLORING TIME! Ken started with the purple roots, then added the silver to the rest, with rounds of touching up. 5:30pm is when we did our last round of wash, then blow dry and a bit of styling. After a quick photo session, I was out by 6pm! I really appreciate them both for making this work, especially when I took up an entire day. Ken and Kristie are the best, and I will travel back to LA the next time I'd like my hair done again. Thank you SO much again Ken and Kristie!

Pro's: they definitely know what they're doing! I like that they think about what's best for your hair instead of just taking the money. I originally wanted to get an ombré in a very light shade. Instead of frying my hair they guided me into doing it gradually once I grow the box dye color out. They even did a test and put bleach in a thin chunk of my hair to see how fast it could lighten but it didn't. I had also asked for a textured cut like an inspo photo I showed, and they did an amazing job! I definitely see why they have great reviews. Con's: I took away one star only because each time I've come here with a 10 am appointment which is the first of the day they're already busy. They end up taking way too many clients at the same time so it really makes your appointment go by even slower. The last time I went just for a root touch up I was there from 10 am - 3 pm. They were going between clients so much that it was becoming frustrating just sitting there waiting to get your hair washed for almost one hour. I also took away one star because I feel like paying over a hundred dollars for shoulder length hair root touch up that took 5 hours is a lot. They also don't speak English very fluently so unless you speak their dialect language is definitely a barrier here. It's by appointment only. Would I come back? Highly unlikely because for me the cons outweighed the pros. Also this place is an hour away for me so to make that drive and be this frustrated every time is not worth it. But if you're in the area it's definitely worth checking out if you're in need of color guidance or a great hair cut.

I asked for a trim- long layers and curtain bangs. She originally quoted me $35, I ended up paying $46. It's been a while since my last haircut, and in between salon haircuts I usually do trims at home. I think this is a no-frills type of place. I already came in with my hair freshly washed. Personally I think the layers are a bit thick and choppier than I would have hoped, but I'm glad I was able to remove a lot of the dead and dry ends. The lack of blending between layers is more noticeable when I try to put my hair up or part it to the side. If you're looking for a straightforward haircut, this is the place to go.

New Look salon is run by a very powerful woman. She started it from the ground up! I've been…read moregetting my hair cut by Gaby since before she had her own salon. She was at Salon Blue in Hacienda Heights and, after everyone else there disappointed me, I tried Gaby out and haven't stopped seeing her since. My mom and I go. We both have fine, thin hair. My mom's tends to be frizzy and mine usually lifeless and straight. My mom gets highlights and lowlights. I usually just get a cut/style and extensions. Color: sometimes it's a hit or miss but Gaby always fixes it. She will ask and ask and ask if that is how you want it. Cut: Once, like 4 years ago, she gave my mom too many layers and she looked like a mushroom head. We told her and it never happened again and now we laugh about it. I'm always happy with my cut. Again, she will ask and ask and ask if you're happy with it. She takes her time. Styling: she doesn't rush. She puts product in your hair, asks if you're going anywhere special that day, how you want it, if you want it straight or curled or blow dried full and voluminous, etc. If you're in a rush, she will get her team to surround you and there's like three curling irons on your head and you're out quick! Fast! Extensions: I AM SO HAPPY WITH EXTENSIONS FROM NEW LOOK SALON. I've had them sewn, braided in and glued. No matter what, they've always been great! And I've always gotten a very good deal on extensions. The best extensions are here. Atmosphere: It's right across the street from king taco. Yum! It's clean and Leti is always sweeping. All that to say that Gaby does a fantastic job with her clients and that you'll probably become her friend because she is so great at keeping New Look customers happy, feeling good and feeling pretty. That's what Gaby wants - her mission is for everyone to know their beauty. Go to New Look Salon. You'll thank yourself.
