Let me start off by saying I really wanted to like this church because it's next to my house. The worship team is pretty good and the pastor is solid. This church is very problematic when it comes to the subject of tithing. They seem to spend too much time asking for tithes and by the time I left I would say about 1/3 of the sermons were about tithing. I also went to their "Rooted" group, which is a small group for non believers and when we got to the subject of money, they had an associate pastor give a talk to all of the small groups being very manipulative about us tithing 10 percent. The problem with this is that the concept of tithing 10% of your i come comes from the Mosaic law, which was fulfilled by Jesus so it's actually irrelevant to Christians today. They take it even a step further by saying 10% of your gross income, which is just abuse of God's word and not biblical. Paul says simply to give with a cheerful heart and doesn't mention a percentage. I showed up to Revival Night to meet my wife and our two kids inside. When the host at the door denied me entry and said it was not allowed in. And that my wife would have to come out and bring me inside. How is she supposed to hear a phone l with all that noise ? On top of the fact that Real Life's cell service inside is not the best? All in all It was a huge letdown. I am very disappointed with the church. It made me upset enough to cancel all further donations with draws that we give every month. Real Life Church - Socially distanced movie night - Churches Near Me - Valencia, California

We moved to Santa Clarita area 6 years ago but continued going to our old church in Porter Ranch. After many recommendations we started going to RFC about a month ago and so far it's been amazing. Our son who is on the spectrum doesn't like change and we were worried a bit about him Switching kids programs but luckily he loves the kids room and their programming. The staff and all the volunteers are always so nice, friendly and helpful. They have donuts and coffee in the mornings and they also offer a service on Thursday nights for the folks that can't make it on the weekends. They have inside and outside seating, very nice and modern building. We just left an annual event that they do which was our first time called snowtacular which was open to all the neighbors, not just the folks from church. At the event they had bounce houses, Santa, Grinch, snow, food trucks and more. They're in middle of a series called at the movies where they show actual scenes from the movie and pastor Rusty ties his message to the movie clips. Did I mention they're also serving popcorn during the series? Come visit and hope you will find this place just as inviting and feel the Lord's presence. read more

Pastor Rusty and the worship team are amazing. It took me a minute to get used to the movie theater and rock show vibe, now I love both! The message is always profound, relatable, and applicable. One of my favorite things about RLC is the online service. I've missed church due to running late or over sleeping. I don't worry about that anymore. When I attend service with my kids, we enjoy sitting outside together. When I attend alone, I enjoy worshiping with the congregation. My family and I have been going to RLC now since July of 2015. I must say that RLC has to be one of the best churches I have ever been to. The church sermon relates to real life scenarios, and there is humor from the pastors. Its not the typical dry sermons where all they do is preach bible versus & make you fall asleep. The church is a very relaxed atmosphere, where you can come & go. You always walk away from RLC with a great feeling knowing you learned something that will help better yourself & your family. There is also a coffee shop on the premises do you can get a refreshing drink before the sermon. They have seating indoors, outdoors & in the coffee shop...and you can even watch it online from home if you are busy. We are new in this community and we were excited to come and see what the church is like, our neighbor told us about the halloween event and we thought it was a good idea. We cancelled other plans to make it to this BIG MESS of an event, do a 2 hour line (me 36 week pregnant and my 3 year old) to be told we could not go in. Poorly organized.... and where is the decency in this church? I have never been to a church that has changed my life like RLC. We lived in the midst of the rat race and hysteria in LA. We looked for a church to feel like we belonged where we were. But we never found one. I was in a bad place. I was retired with way too much time on my hands. I actually started disliking people and that was a first for me. For 10 years we searched and when we found RLC, it was home. It was a miracle for me. The people are amazing and the services really hit home each week. We even moved out here to be closer to the people that come to RLC. I really love being plugged in and showing God's love to others. The worship is amazing because it's real and totally heartfelt. Some people don't like contemporary Christian music, but that being said, if you only like hymns than maybe this worship might not be for you. But we have a talented, God loving, on fire for Christ worship group. The children's program is wonderful. My grandchildren can hardly wait to go to church when they come to see us. My daughter and her husband started watching church online with the kids every week. They love the messages and Pastor Rusty, as well as many of the pastors at our church. I wish they lived closer so they could come more often. I read a lot of the reviews and I know everyone is entitled to their opinion, but this church saved my life as far as I'm concerned. They reached me like no other church had reached me in a very long time. And for all of you who have commented on it being like a show at the staples center...that's crazy because it's nothing like that. Pastor Rusty and the other pastors have a great sense of humor, but they love the Lord like no other. They all have dedicated their lives to bring more people to know Christ. And they must be doing something right because our church is always growing. I'd like to say a little something about Pastor Rusty and how people have criticized him for being too funny or not opening his bible. People shouldn't say things like that when they have only been to our church a few times. He works very hard on his messages and they refer to a lot of bible verses. Mainly Pastor Rusty makes the verses come to life. He makes them real and relevant in today's world. It really helps me understand things in the Bible that are difficult to understand. And when he puts a comical twist on the messages, it helps us to apply them to your lives so we can remember what the verses say and mean. I love RLC and the way everyone is welcome. If you feel like you don't deserve to even walk into a church or that you feel you've done the unthinkable and you don't want people to judge you, that will never happen here at RLC. This is a great church for those people that haven't been to church in a long time. The people I have met there are very kind and friendly to everyone that enters this God loving place. They have an outdoor area for new people that want to check out church but don't want to come inside. They do great things for the community like One Million Meals and Halloween Trunk or Treat, and have served the homeless community and Special Need events. It is a bible based church that teaches how to keep Christian values in everyday life. Someone else said this and I agree, it is strange rating a church on yelp. But why not!! People want to know! RLC is a large and comfortable "Mini-Mega" church. If you are someone who likes small churches, then RLC is probably not for you. If you like medium to GIGANTIC churches, then RLC is probably a place you will want to check out. If you like coffee, then RLC is a place for you. They have a real coffee house!!! Not a fake one! Why do I like it? Because it is usually kept very dark during services and I don't like to be seen. I also like all the people that work there. I know that is a bit of a stretch, but it is true, they are all nice people. It is true... every now and then the message is recorded and played on a video. That is a turnoff to some people. But that is rare now. Also, I don't always agree with the message or how it is delivered. But in my mind, you can't always agree with everything that is said. Disclaimer: I do give them 5 stars, and No, I do not work there, but I do volunteer at RLC. I am not a paid staff person! I am writing this review as when I first started going there over 4 years ago. Only recently has my wife forced me to ..... er... ah... have I decided to volunteer my time there. The pastor is nice and they don't make me feel uncomfortable. Loved the Halloween party. The coffee shop is amazing. Usually I am against selling things in churches but this one isn't anything like that. You really have to see it yourself to see how amazing it is! Their Halloween event was a joke this year, waste of time, poorly managed. Yes it's a free event, but don't invite the public if you are not prepared for the crowds. Will never go to any of their events ever again. I saw so many kids and families waiting and not one person working the event told them there were no more tickets. I was so bummed!! I really wanted d to like this place but I'm unsure about their message and if they are very serious or deeply connected to god. Don't get me wrong, I'm used to going to big churches and small churches alike who have a deep love of God, but it felt like a show or production of some kind. Lots of jokes, superficially deep and too many things going on. I couldn't follow or build an emotional connection. Today they told us that because of today's culture we can only handle 10 minute chunks of information. So they said that they were mixing it up and that they would do 3 different people with each a different 10 minute talk about the same subject of faith. I wanted to think it was a clever-ish idea, but I walked away utterly confused!! Each person had ideas and a personal story about faith and they weren't really related and I didn't feel like I could take anything away from it. I'm a big note taker and I couldn't take any notes of value!! Once a speaker got going into their talk, got momentum and connection to their topic,their 10 minutes were up. I felt like this church tries so hard to be relatable and "real" that they take away the true force of god and what he can do in a person's life. They seemed like they were trying to be like our culture with flashing lights, smoke, big venue, and a funny and entertaining message. Jokes are fine here and there, but where is the substance and God's word? And the Bible says otherwise about being like the world. Romans 12:2 ESV Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. Part of me wants to try it again, just to see if they create anything of substance and purely focused on god. Where is God and his spirit. No one was deeply passionate in that crowd. If you want a real life church, check out North Coast a church in vista California. They have their sermons online. Great emotional messages every time and substance. Please Take notes RLC. Your kids will beg to go back, because they will not only learn about God, but have fun doing it. Pastor Rusty is an amazing speaker and very funny. Lots of ways to get plugged in.
