Mr Pampas is a great time for any meat lover. They have a huge selection of meats that they will…read moreprepare at your request. That is not something I realized at the time but I found later. There is also a large food bar with MANY options. I do recommend brushing up on your espanol though, it'll make the experience mucho mejor. Another cool thing is that the have a waitresses with different alcohol beverages (at additional costs). Also there was a decrease in price after a certain time but I'm not sure if this is a normal special. Now to the comparisons, the meats are cooked medium from what I could tell. Some Brazilian steak houses tend towards the medium rare side but not Pampas although you could probably ask. All the meats felt a little more fatty than some of the other steakhouses I've been to, not saying they don't have those better cuts of meat but I also never asked for them so I was eating based on requests from the other table. The food buffet was quite good and honestly I would've enjoyed eating more of the buffet if I wasn't focused on the meats. They brought out a pitcher of sangria that was really good. Overall I had a really good experience. It's comparable to a good Brazilian steakhouse and the price is really affordable. The ambiance is nice, the servers are all polite and friendly. Some of the guys serving the meats seemed a little ready to get off work but overall I had a great time. Worth checking out if you're visiting Mexicali!

This cut of meat is called Picanha, and it comes from the top part of a cow's rump. You may recognize it from your grocery store, as it's also sometimes referred to as the sirloin cap. ― thedailymeal.com What a great Brazillian BBQ spot. With over 20-years of experience, they do things well...done. Keep in mind, Mexico is a place that likes their meat well-done, which makes an American tourist, like me, sad. I'm not dinging them on that as it's part of the culture. They do have salsa and sauces for you to dip the meat. The meat selection is great, the staff is so nice and accommodating (one even speaking some English after hearing some of us speaking English), and there's some really great cuts of meat. My biggest complaint isn't the cook on the meat but the smoky dining room. My throat and eyes were absolutely burning afterward.

I'd give them a zero or negative if I could, but unfortunately that's not possible. Reasons for the one star: After we've finished our dinner, a young man came to take payment. I gave him my card and he continued to charge the card. After the screen went to the "tip" section, the kid took off, and returned demanding payment. I suppose he mistook me for being an American for an easy con. Fortunately the missus father is a banker from Mexicali and he questioned him. He said that he canceled the transaction and they he needed to take it again. He was then demanded to show the cancellation receipt that would have Ben printed out, but the kid said that no receipt was printed. He called his manager and we sorted things out. I'll still have to follow up with my bank to verify that no extra charges were placed on my card. Definitely a shame because the food was quite good.
