Both of my children have been taught, one piano and the other guitar at this music school. Ms…read more Catherine the owner and piano teacher has a real touch for connecting with children and has been doing this for a long time with great results. The place is located right on the border between LIC and Astoria in a safe neighborhood strip of stores. The guitar teacher has changed in the last year but the new one is much better than the old one according to my son. A really great place for children to learn a musical instrument.

Our founder, Ms.Catherine, has over 30 years experience successfully teaching kids to read and play music. Our friendly, patient staff of instructors are industry professionals and will have you singing or playing along in no time at all .. Our clean, comfortable studio is still very conveniently located 3 blocks, North of the #7 line Queensboro subway station, on Crescent Street. We are in a family friendly shopping area that is safe and only one block from Evangel Christian and P.S. 112. We have friendly and patient teachers for all the classes we offer.Younger students should start their education with piano or maybe violin, for physical reasons, it also makes learning basic music theory easier. Teens and adults are only limited by their determination and willingness to work at it. Joining a band, singing for friends or just doing it for yourself, making music is a stress buster, lowers blood pressure and boosts social skills. It's a fact, People like People who play music. There's classical Spanish guitar, acoustic folk, electric rock, jazz and pop. It's only limited by your imagination and your training, and we can provide the best start possible.

A friend told me about Astoria music and how he got his acoustic guitar repaired for a reasonable…read moreprice and in Just a few days . I decided to start playing my bass guitar again after being non active for a bunch of years and it needs a little TLC before I can slap my axe . Astoria music is really a mom and pop old school music shop that sells and service many different types of musical instruments and they have music teachers as well if you want your little one to learn an instrument or if you the adult want to start a new hobby . Very nice gent who i assume is the owner , looked over my bass and knew exactly needed to be done . A few parts had to be replaced and I didn't mind cause I do recall how nice my fender bass sounded when it was in peak shape . 3 days later it was ready and the sound is exactly what I remembered after all these years . Glad my friend told me about this music store and would recommend this place 100 percent. 4.5 stars on my yelp meter.

Not a tax because tax is already added to the "Base Amount" 2. Bass guitar I bought has already a bended headstock and warped neck. But the owner insists it is okay. And when I said "you are luthier, you know it is not". He refunded my money and told me he can change the headstock to a new one. 3. Website says they are open and will be opened 11am. Waited and wasted 2 hours in the cold outside went back the next day and told me they now open at past 1pm. Photos of my horrible experiences below.

NYC Guitar school is one stop for learning guitar, restarting guitar, singing or wanting community…read morewith other musicians (there are also ukulele, bass lessons - and a ROBUST rock band program). In addition to classes there are many events at NYC Guitar School from open mic, workshops, guest talks... SONG LAB is a great new addition to that line up - members and non-members alike can join. Song Lab is a 3 hour block - everyone involved (ALL levels of singers, bassists, rhythm guitars, lead guitars) are taught their part of the chosen song by one the amazing teachers at NYC Guitar School. By the end of the 3 hours the song is played as a group in a performance type setting. Past SONG LAB songs include Rebel Rebel, Sweet Child of Mine, Creep, My Girl. SONG LAB is an amazing way to start playing with other people, test your skills, learn new skills, learn a song you have always wanted to play in record time, meet other musicians that you will see again in either virtual or in person classes, open mics, or join in rock band. My overall experience with NYC Guitar school and their top tier teachers has been so gratifying - I highly recommend Song Lab to anyone new or seasoned - it is a lot of fun.

It's terrific, and my teacher (Josh Torvi) has helped me a lot. What I like most about Josh is his flexibility. He understands that each student needs to be taught differently. I'm an old guy, somewhat set in my ways. Josh doesn't force me to play in a certain style, learn certain songs, or insist I learn music theory. He doesn't tell me what to do. At the start of each lesson, he asks me what I want to work on. He'll gently suggest I try new things and get out of my comfort zone, but he doesn't push me when I just want to have fun and play stuff I know. That's what keeps me coming back every week.
