Greg came, saw the problem, and explained that the technology has evolved somewhat since the original work was done four years ago: Now, instead of a cable, the best arborist practice is a reinforced band that goes around the leader on each end with a shock absorber in the middle of the span. That sounded good to me so we scheduled the work, and today Pinnacle's crew came to install the band. From the look of it, I'd say it is a clearly superior solution to this problem, and the cost was again reasonable. Pinnacle remains my recommended first call for any substantial tree work in central Maine.

They filled the space between the steps and the landing with polymerized sand. A lot of the sand has since washed out, and I worry that eventually it will destabilize the pavers. I called Davis over a month ago, simply asking for a return call to advise me how to repair the situation. No response. I was not confrontational. I did not demand they come out and do a repair. I simply asked for advice. I have called three times since...once every ten days or so. The receptionist is pleasant and apologetic but the staff will not return my call. I recommend finding a company that will stand behind their work even after you have paid the bill.
