The entire house hunting, offering, and closing process was very easy and relatively stress-free. Her years as a realtor (and even more years as an active community member) put her in a strong position to connect people with real estate. We were particularly impressed with how Cheri handled a difficult closing. We had asked for professional cleaning as part of our offer and the seller declined. Her agent promised Cheri that she would personally make sure that the condo would be clean on inspection/closing day. Quite the opposite happened... the condo was filthy! The seller had 4 cats and it was quite obvious that little time had been spent cleaning. There were streaks on the laminate floor so we could see the seller had attempted something, but that something was not a clean property. Cheri went to bat for us with the seller's agent and held her ground on what had been promised to us by the agent, even going so far as to wait at the property while we went to closing so she could meet the seller's agent at the condo and show her. The other agent was quite put out with our standards and made no attempts to apologize or remedy the broken promise. Though Cheri warned us that the closing could be contentious, she maintained a professional demeanor that set the tone for our closing. If not for Cheri and her team, there is no doubt we would have been frazzled and flustered. They never wavered on supporting us and being in our court. To say that I was completely ignorant of everything that went into searching for a house is an understatement. I think it'd be understandable for anyone to lose patience with someone who couldn't make up her mind about what she wanted in a home or what she could afford. Scott never made me feel like a burden or like I was uneducated about the housing market. Because he knew that I was a first-time home buyer, he took extra time during our showings to point out important things to take note of that I may not have otherwise paid attention to. He also went into detail about purchase agreements and other contracts to make sure I understood what I was signing. He was always prompt in his email and text responses and made me feel totally valued as a client. I tried working with other realtors from larger firms - mostly because I got a cash incentive from my insurance company to do so - but they very much had a sales mentality or weren't willing to compromise with my expectations or timeline. I ended up foregoing a $600 cash bonus to work with Scott because the impression he left was so much better than the other realtors I tried. He was the only one who I felt I could trust completely. Not only was Scott an excellent realtor, but also he became a great friend of mine. Although I'm so excited to have bought a home, I miss talking to Scott every day and driving around like mad men to showings. They obviously knew the market very well and the staging was INCREDIBLE and instrumental in the quick sale of our house. Happy with the counsel/advice we received and the fantastic service. While Cari Ann Carter Group is at a slightly higher % for realtor fees, worth it just for the staging and high touch service. UPDATE (approximately 1.5 years later): We recently used Cari Ann Carter again for the purchase of a lot. This was a bit spontaneous and Cari Ann is a pit bull when it comes to advocating for you. We were able to put in an offer Sunday, get a counteroffer Monday and secure the property on Tuesday. She was INSTRUMENTAL in making this happen quickly and is the best negotiator ever! She set reasonable expectations for us, which we really appreciated, and was very open in feedback along the entire way. More importantly, she is a DO-er! She had 2 contractors out within 12 hours of walking the property to help us with the logistics of design, finding a contractor, etc. You want her and her amazing team on your side when you're buying or selling!
